@ the format is what i’m interested in. I have read Taylor’s translations in cheap paperbacks and the Prometheus Trust academic versions but they’re nothing special for someone who loves beautiful books. Never seen an edition with original artwork and in hardcover so i’ll take it.
Where would the Logos fall in the Neoplatonic scheme? Is it the same as the Nous? I still don't know where to place the Greek-Christian Logos in Neoplatonism.
@@astralcounterpoint Plotinus saw logos as the essential quality of reason, but in general, all the way to damascius, logos was seen as the intermediary between the one and the many, the organizational function between these modalities. Hope this helps. I must add though, If Parmenides is taken seriously then heraclitus logos is actually illusory, a shadow and isnt a “real” thing. Placing logos lower in the chain of being in the category of apparent phenomena. This being due to the fact that logos function is inseparable from the many which is consequentially temporal due to extension.
John I think this one of your best videos in a long time! I would love to see more content like this. Ordered my copy. What do you think the painting on the cover means?
Great, would be good if you do also a video on Neoplatonic philosophy and Heidegger
Good stuff. MONAD looks fantastic
Monad is just a compilation of previously published, mainly by thomas taylor. The only addition here is Ken Wheelers introduction.
