I loved your preface of how mouse design is decided by manufactures to target certain demographics of people. Very insightful and why I subscribed and liked.

The problem is when you have micro hands like me, even smaller mice are plenty to palm. I palm my Xtrfy M42 even tho most would call it a smaller mouse.

There are definitely other good ergonomic light weight mouse like the Model D, XTRFY M4 which I feel are as good as the Gpro or Viper

Speaking of the m800 pro, i heard they kept the same stock feet which is a shame because i feel like that's the only real downside to that mouse. I recently sanded down the bottom of my wired m800 so that i could put feet of other mice models on it and I suddenly love it more than my viper mini

@@ZXTech That's just what you consider "full" ergonomic. A thumb rest does not make certan mice "more ergonomic" than others. It's just a different shape catered to different preferences.
There's tons of lightweight ergo mice on the market that are more affordable and lighter than this one.

Logitech didn’t do it because they’re behind on the times. They’re slowly getting left behind. I believe roccat will lead the way for a while.

Small niche? Please. Some of us want to work AND have fun. And not have to juggle several mice for it. Can't be that small of a niche now can it? Doesn't sound like that, no.
Now if manufacturers actually learned, that women exist, and they have hands, and they play games, with their 15cm tiny little paws, and maybe some of these women are in their 30s and 40s, and need some comfy ergo going on, because joint pain is creeping up, then i WOULDN'T WANT TO DROWN ALL THESE MANUFACTURERS IN A SWAMP thankyouverymuch.
BRB printing myself a shapetester just in case i might not hate this.

OK an hour later it's done aaaand...
i was working on modifying my 3D printer's firmware just the other day but i misplaced the source code for the correct configuration and looks like it's got the wrong steps/mm calibration along... probably Z... because i rebuilt it, replaced the Z screws a few months back, and i printed the shape tester standing on the front edge like the leaning tower of Pisa. Came out only 11cm short while in reality the Kone Pro Air is 12.5cm long. It also came out 36mm tall instead of 40. Cute, a shrunk mouse.
Anyway i can already pretty much tell i'm not buying the real one because of a really weird ridge that interferes with my pinky, and it's still gonna be there at correct size... there was really no need to put it there, silly Roccat.
Might as well start nudging and designing my own mouse shape though.

@@ZXTech Super unlikely. I think the one thing that might come out of my pet projects to be sort of manufactured is in-ear-monitor headphones.
I bought myself a beater g305 a few days ago thinking i don't care what its shape is, i might reshape it into something else. I suppose i might get used to it as it is but it's also not exactly great.
Just now i printed a shape tester for Xtrfy m4, this time at correct scale after i fixed the printer firmware, and... it might just be it, i don't entirely hate it? And as it happens someone released a shape-a-like conversion for the G305 with that shape, so i might just print that and be happy. I'm printing with HIPS these days which is pretty stiff and super lightweight, easy to sand, holds onto paint strongly, can be vapour polished, and comes straight out of the printer with an attractive silky finish. I don't know why people sleep on this material - it's cheap as well and not too difficult to print either.
I might end up coming up with a different power system for the G305 though, either a 4.7 gram battery and mouse charging cradle, or maybe even a wireless power system where you can hide a loop under the mousepad. I kind of don't get why everyone has been powering the G305 the way they have been. Some people are using a small pouch Li-Ion cell as-is and i suppose that's not terrible from efficiency standpoint, though it does make some circuits in the mouse drift up above nominal. The other two families of popular solutions are LR44, which is super wasteful, and Li-Ion AAA batteries with built-in charger and 1.5V regulator, which just doesn't make sense carrying all that stuff around. You can have a GP 1/3AAA cell with solder tabs (170mAh), you can trickle charge it with like a resistor and no extra hardware, it doesn't introduce extra power waste during discharge, and the mouse is capable of warning you before it runs flat.
