  • London by William Blake - NET SET | British Literature | Heena Wadhwani
London is a poem by William Blake. It was published in the year 1794, in Blake's poetry collection, 'Songs of Experience.'
This poem is a critique of London society following the Industrial Revolution. As the poet walks down the streets of London, all he hears are cries- cries of chimney sweepers, of new born babies, of young children working in the factories, and of sorrowful soldiers. It is a warning for the powerful in London to stop abusing the poor and misusing their power, otherwise the beautiful London would soon turn tragic, and another French Revolution would ensue.
