    since you are in a hospital ward. You have been seeing this patient for three days, do you have to introduce yourself and ask patient's name? thank you

    • @LearnEnglishForHealthcare
      @LearnEnglishForHealthcare  3 года назад +2

      I'm not an examiner so I can't provide a definite answer. In real life I always try to re-introduce myself "as a reminder my name is Hannah and I am one of the intensive care doctors" for example, as I know patients see so many people in a day they can't be expected to remember everyone! Also in OET-land I want to maximise my chance of getting all the marks, and there are introduction marks in the mark scheme. However, you might also get those marks for doing a more general introduction like "hello again Mrs Smith, how are you this morning?
      "

    Hello Hannah! I messed up the introduction. The patient was there for her daughter but I said how has your son been. The interlocutor then corrected me saying actually its my daughter. Then I again fumbled and called the daughter by her mother's name. Rest of the roleplay and 2nd card went fine. Can I pass if the rest is fine? Or is this too big a mistake ?
