Batman The Animated Series debuted on Fox Kids Network in September of 1992, but it was over 20 years before the classic designs of Bruce Timm and the storytelling greatness of Paul Dini was created in six inch action figure form. DC Direct and then DC Collectibles crafted the ultimate line of action figures for the groundbreaking cartoon that gave us such original characters as Harley Quinn. Nothing was spared in the making of these Batman action figures and all your favorites were there including Robin, Nightwing, Joker, Two Face, Penguin, Riddler, Mr Freeze, Jim Gordon, Batgirl, Poison Ivy and Catwoman! Rewatching this video after the news of Kevin conroys death. Kevin was a legend he was my introduction to batman and dc and he is who I hear when I read batman comics.

Azrael's real name is Jean Paul Valley. Also, the actual name of the sequel series is The New Batman Adventures. The New Adventures of Batman is the Filmation cartoon from the late 1970's. Oddly enough, it is a continuation of the late 1960's animated show, The Adventures of Batman and Robin. Both shows can probably still be found on Dailymotion.

I love this collection. I have everything except for the expression packs and the Mad Love set. I started off with the Bat Mobile and Batwing because they are just so awesome and huge then I started buying the figures after that.

In addition to the names you mentioned, I would also say that aside from the brilliant cast of voice actors involved, and the wonderful music provided by Shirley Walker [originating from Danny Elfman's compositions on the Burton Batman movies], Alan Burnett (another big staff writer on the show) deserves some accolades as well.
I am so, SO lucky that I was able to find the Batman Expressions Pack on an aftermarket site for a good deal. He's such an awesome figure, and a crowning piece in the background of my Batman collection.

Man the dark knight returns figures are truly amazing, they have that classic hint of the animated series style drawing but stay true to frank millers art style in the comics.
Some solid gems there love animated Batman look scarecrow is the gem if anyone has him

Cool AF. As someone who admires the animated series and watches it daily that was a treat. Clay Face and The Ventriloquist/Scarface were my favorites but they all were chefs kiss 🤌🤌🤌
Dude just finished the video. Watched it in 2 parts because halfway through I wanted to watch the first few episodes. Awesome stuff man. My favorite iteration is the first animated series just cause I like how batman and joker were drawn. And great stuff showing Batman beyond! My favorite animated series. Cool video again! Also that’s damn creepy scarecrow, the animation designers did a great job
Another difference that I noticed between both versions of Batgirl is the voice actresses. In the Animated Series, she was voiced by Melissa Gilbert, whereas on The New Batman Adventures, one of my favorite voice actresses of all time, Tara Strong, voiced Batgirl.
I love Tara Strong too, my favorite characters she voiced are Twilight Sparkle, Barbara Gordon/Batgirl from New Batman Adventures, and Harley Quinn from DC Superhero Girls (the 2015 RUclips shorts version)
Bruce Timm was a genius when it comes to these designs! I can’t help but wonder how he would handle other characters, possibly outside of DC entirely? Also, a big plot line in the Batman TAS continuation comic is centered around the return of Jason Todd as the Red Hood

I was all in with this line when it came out. It did have some hiccups though in the beginning. The joints were pretty frail. But DC collectibles did rectify this after it's initial release and it was a lot of awesome after that. Could have used a Maxie Zeus figure too. Loved the video.
I must say, once all was said and done, it was a fantastic line!

I just love the Animated Universe Timm designs, and these figures are some of the most faithful, but sadly the only thing keeping me from getting them is the articulation on some of them and that some reviewers have pointed out how brittle the plastic tends to be, I'm hoping that MAFEX releases more figures aside from Batman and Joker, they look like an evolution from these
Granted, I haven’t put them through the ringer as far as playing with them, but I’ve had no problems with them!
There is nothing wrong with these figures. The first wave had a few issues, but they redesigned the joints and rereleased them. So don't miss out.

Good luck standing that bane figure, he skipped leg day 5 too many times 😂. As a side note batman the dark knight returns is my favourite batman comic. Haven’t read it as i dont read comics due to the uk being funky to get them but i watched the movies of it starring peter weller as the batman and i was in awe by the entire thing, from what im aware those 2 movies are literally the comics if they moved and talked. Such a darn good movie and the state of batman being that disheveled old man who just wants to retire but wrecks everything. Such an awesome story and i loved that robin character, the entire thing was just awesome. They couldnt do that in live action if a literal god did such a project. Frank miller was bloody fantastic

Man I gotta say I’m a lifelong marvel zombie but this show is EVERYTHING. I like how you mentioned how that Phantasm figure didn’t spoil anything because I remember as a kid the original figure TOTALLY spoiled the twist but thankfully I was young enough that it didn’t bother me if that makes any sense at all. Remember I had a batwoman movie back in the day and the model had a silver and pink color scheme with a mask similar to Batman beyond’s, wonder if there is a figure of her out there somewhere
Probably - they made every figure under the rainbow back in the day!
Love the diversity in villains in the animated series it brought out the best of Batman with every new one, had him showcase his skills against so many different powers and tactics the only thing that’s come close so far to the perfect portrayal of Batman in the animated series is the Arkham games
I think that is something I loved as well - seeing Batman as the worlds greatest detective as well as being a “super” hero

@@CarbonScoring I love the design. I just didn’t like the Adventure Continues redesign mostly. Poison Ivy was better before. They made them TOO minimal imo.

I have the TNBA Batman. Easily my fav Batman fig. But TBH,I was more of a fan of the Justice League TAS. Because that was my introduction to everything nerdy.
I would have loved to see this series go deeper into the JLI designs - note sure my wallet would like it quite as much…

I love this video so much bro!! It kinda breaks my heart tho to see them in a box and not fully displayed as Bruce Timm is my absolute fave, I have about 90 percent of them but still hunting for the few I am missing. The Batman JLU figure did you glue him to the base? man those figures fall like dominos all the time and have weird tilts and it is so annoying that they didnt give most of the foot pegs for bases. Thanks for this video, I am really focused now on getting my missing grails in this collection :)
I have been excited to do this video, because they are now going on display in my Secret Lounge! I’ll have an updated video of the 2022 display soon. And, yes, I use hot glue to put this figures on bases - it doesn’t damage the figs and works like a charm!

@@CarbonScoring I hope they keep re-releasing the figures with cell shading. I'm not a huge fan of catwoman (I think they over did it on her) but the rest look much better with it. Too bad they're so expensive on ebay...my collection is limited to what I can afford. Picked up Robin, Joker and Azrael but someone bought all 3 deathstrokes while they on sale most likely to resell them on ebay :( If red hood is there next I'll grab him too,

I don't think I have any of the 6 inch JL ones - but I really should try to pick those up. I have almost all of the 4 inch JL figures - I think htey look great in front of the Hall of Justice BAF display from the Young Justice figures

I jumped on those - particularly the Catwoman!
I hope we get the other figures that were supposed to be made like Flashpoint Batman, Dracula Batman, and the Court of Owls figure.
Im glad Mcfarlane is re-releasing these now. The toon shading stinks but that is easy to remove without destroying the undercoat if you are careful. He’s releasing the expensive Batwing next which I never bought, so Ill finally have that thing after all thee years. It’s $500-1,000 on eBay for the original. Im sure the cave is next after that. He needs to get that Bat-Signal back out there and all 3 emotion packs too. DC Direct put out Batman, Joker and Harley each with a ton of heads and other extras. You showed some of the Batman heads.
The best thing about the reissues are the new characters and variants. As of today we’ve gotten Condiment King and Lock-Up and BTAS Bruce Wayne and Maxie Zeus are up next. We’ve also gotten some variants that never existed like Blind as a Bat Batman and Trenchcoat Joker with his overcoat and hat. We also got the release of the Jokermobile that was announced a decade ago but never came out because DC Direct was shutdown which ended the line. Those figures like Azrael Batman and Deathstroke were supposed to be some of the first figs in a completely new subline based on the The Adventure Continues comic book and we would have gotten a huge number of new heroes and villains that never appeared in the show. We got a few of them that Mcfarlane released years ago on the original cardbacks but there were several others that were shown and solicited but got canceled. Hopefully Mcfarlane will release those some day.
I just found the new reissue of Batman Beyond at Wslmart yesterday. There’s a variant at Target that features a translucent blue figure and more importantly an unmasked Terry head. There’s also an old man Bruce Wayne with Ace the Bathound reissue out right now.
There’s so many more you didnt show. This line is amazing. The BtAS Killer Croc and Officer Montoya and Mad Love Joker and Harley in her lingerie being sone of the more rare ones. There’s a Superman and Lois from a 2-pk which I never picked up.

Nolan's movies addressed some of the goings-on at Gotham's police department, but it sounds like The Batman [the upcoming movie with Robert Pattinson as Batman] will take on more of the noir-ish, detective tone you're looking for.
I hope so - I feel like it is the thing that separates Batman from other “superheroes” cause, you know, he isn’t - which is why he is great!

It’s funny. I prefer the first version figures so much more other than Batman. That one it’s a toss up. They’re both great. The new series ones almost seem TOO stripped down and minimal. They need some umph.
