I absolutely love your channels. I enjoy your quiet humor and long for the day when we all may get a glimpse of you. I have even have looked into learning how to make a decent curry to tempt you if you were ever to come to the States or be able to cook for you if and when I travel to Japan. You are opening Japan to the traveler and tempting us tourists with Japanese cuisine... and curry, of course. Keep traveling my friend! Your buddy, Chris.
When we saw curry in the late snack menu and your finger on it we knew that you couldn't resist 😂 I'm impressed by the mouthwatering food on japanese ferries . One advice , if one day you visit europe , never eat on french ferries 😂
Love your videos on all your channels. I would so love to try real Japanese food. That pizza though was not what the majority of Americans would call pizza. Looked interesting though. Great job and again thank you so much for putting these out as this is probably the only way i will ever get to see Japan. ❤
I always like how you say you're not really hungry so you'll order something small, and then go on to order a full evening meal, with an extra large rice. :D
you totally turned me on to curry rice, I've been buying japanese curry at the store and making beef curry at home. Definitely something I want to try the authentic version of whenever I make it to Japan!
Actually, the are pretty damn close to what it tastes like in Japan. Most people in Japan use the same blocks when they cook it at home. And yes.... Japanese curry is so good! 😁😁
I am in Scotland. I find the journeys across Japan really relaxing and love seeing Japanese food. When I am feeling ill I always go to a Japanese Restaurant. Sushi and green tea always makes me feel better. I am in Glasgow and a Celtic fan. We have Japanese players Reo Hatate, Dazen Maeda, Kyogo Furihashi and Yuki Kobayashi they are loved by Celtic fans. Keep up brilliant vids please.
Another wonderful journey, and yet another beef curry I don't know why you never just order a extra rice as you know you will run out like normal, thank you for sharing your journey
The private capsule room was very nice and the price was right. Wasn't surprised you ordered the curry instead of the soba. I also think the broccoli and tomato were miss-plated. Sorry to say, that wasn't Chicago pizza, but as long as you enjoyed it is all that matters. Superb dinner. As always loved the blue sea. Will catch you in the next one. Take care, stay safe.
What they are calling Chicago Pizza is not even close to real Chicago pizza -- unless they aren't trying for Chicago style. I live about an hour away from Chicago and Chicago pizza has a nice crust (that looked like maybe some sort of tortilla), and, at minimum, it is generally made with mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce (the sauce might be plain tomato, or will have various spices like garlic and oregano in it), and various toppings (which ones are up to the person. You choose from a list). I'd say you were more correct in calling it Nachos! 🙂
Totally agree with you both . I grew up in Chicago and that pizza dish looked like it was inspired by taco bell 😊 . I did truly enjoy the video like I always do ❤
Also being from Chicago, I can say for sure that two things are true: 1.) That is absolutely not Chicago style pizza. 2.) It still looks really interesting and I'd love to try it. If you ever get to Chicago, STJ, I'm sure there's a bunch of us who would be happy to take you to have the real thing. :)
I know this is a travel & food channel, but I learn alot about the geography of the places in Japan that you travel to. I can't thank you enough for the thorough descriptions of where to board a ferry or what connects to a certain town. Its the details that make it seem like I'm travelling with you, which, in a sense, I am. Thanks.
First Meal: Oh, no thank you. tripe is not my favorite. The tuna+yam dish looked delicious! The ryukyu don bowl looked yummy too! Hahaha!! STJ-san you cannot fool us. We already knew it would be curry!! Breakfast: It always amuses me when a "western style" breakfast comes with soup+salad. It almost never does here in the US, not with vegetable salad, but you may get fruit salad. Lunch: I would not call that pizza, I would call it a tostada bowl. It did look yummy though! Dinner: I cannot eat chicken, but the rice looked perfect and delicious! See you on the next adventure!
I have had Thai, Chinese and Indian curries. I will have to have Japanese curry. That pizza, though. Probably good, but more like a Taco Bell Mexican pizza variation. That Yellowtail bowl looked great.
At first I thought the one broccoli jumped ship. But then when you reunited it with its partner and they married, I realized the cherry tomato only wanted his or her adoptive parents back together and you made that happen. You are a good man, Mr. Solo.
Really good ferry food, but have to take exception to the Chicago Pizza, oh dear nooooooo, and the Western Breakfast. We would never serve the green stuff with breakfast and only cooked tomatoes, along with lots of other yummy meat products, potatoes and eggs. But thank you so much for all your hard work and sacrificing your taste buds for our entertainment. ❤❤👋👋🏴👵
I am sorry you had a tough day, but it looks like the food and sake helped with that. The "pizza" isn't really deep dish at all- it does look like a giant tortilla chip. Everything else looked great- thanks for taking us along.
it's a good thing you were on board to make that last second decision to rescue that curry from the kitchen - you get your curry freak gold star today 🌟
I am SO SURPRISED that you are ready to eat!😊🙄😋 As a Westerner, I would not like to find a nacho instead of a pizza crust on my 'Chicago Pizza.' As an Old Man, I would need an ensuite bathroom. I LIKE this ferry for its sensibility and its cleanliness. I would always choose Japanese dishes on board. PS: I need to remember to order more Japanese eggplant curry!
Very nice and I love that nobody is talking looking your vids is like meditation. Thank you. I like your sense of humor "Lost brokoli". All is so quiet, is this normal in Japan. On ship like this in Germany it would be so loud you would not understand your on words...
I think you can compete the big eater contest in Japan... it's midnight and you can order and eat so much... I'm really impressed 😂 and no surprise that you ordered curry, hahaha
I've never seen a pizza like the one eaten in this video, and I know that a lot of people have already commented on this. :) It's still an interesting video, as always, and, once again, I'm hungry from watching it, and I ate just before so that I wouldn't be. haha
I take it they don't have sliced bread as that western style breakfast croissant was definitely trying to emulate toast. Glad to see that pizza is as cursed as it was last time.
I am sad to say that was not a Chicago pizza, or even a Tavern style pizza. That was more or less an open faced Quesadilla or an American style Tostada my friend. But so long as you enjoyed it XD
Agree with others, that is definitely not a Chicago Pizza. It looks like the chef got the recipe by phone from someone in Antarctica during a snow blizzard. The ships name is a French word for Sun.
oh my goodness, has it really been two years already? That's still neither Chicago nor pizza! It's more like a bechamel nacho bowl! XD and of course your hand slipped and you got the curry...
The untold and heartbreaking love story of 2 lost broccoli crossed lovers doomed to never unite with one another till one day they are consumed by their saviour Solo Travel Japan and finally united at last
I knew I'd find a bunch of people triggered by the "Chicago" pizza... You guys, every country has their own version of foods. I'm from the USA, and literally we're one of the worst offenders! Our pizza would offend the Italians. We have German chocolate cake that's not at all German. Even our sushi is mostly nothing like Japanese sushi. What I'm saying is, just go with it, it's not that serious and we could find examples like this in all places.
Could you please tell us your secret HOW can you eat so much? We struggle with overweight here and would have eaten one meal divided by two and would be full! No hard feelings just honestly CURIOUS
I think I would have chosen exactly what you had for your midnight snack, although I think I would have stopped with one serving of the buri donburi! That western breakfast didn't look so good, the ham insipid, the sausage, the egg a little artificial, the salad mediocre--I think I would have had the congee and I think there was some kind of sugatayaki, maybe a sardine? Sure that Chicago pizza is not really even a pizza. But if you enjoyed it, so what. It looked more like one of these things where you put the filling of a chicken pot pie inside a loaf of bread--and then supply pita crisps to eat with it. With the ramen, heavy for me. Maybe I would choose the Tonkatsu or was there some kind of udon or soba? I guess the tori nankin was fine as dinner; as you say, don't want to stuff yourself and fall asleep just before you have to get off the ferry.
THAT is not anywhere near a Chicago pizza and any Chicago native will tell you right off the bat. That is what I call a tostada and doesn't look any better than the last time you had it. Whoever is the chef probably confused it with a Mexican Pizza at a Taco Bell here in the states and was misinformed by some non-native local.
I always smile when you "accidentally" order curry. 😂😂
Hmm… that is an interesting interpretation of “Chicago pizza “ the other foods looked amazingly delicious
We know you too well, that curry order was no mistake 😂😂😂
Thankyou for always travelling and eating 🤘😁🤘💜🇯🇵💜🇦🇺
That pizza looks closer to a taco salad! 😂 The curry, i mean "SOBA" looks pretty good, though!
"I'm here to eat"...........Amen brother! 😉
I knew you'd take the curry...😅
I knew you couldn't pass up that curry. Lol
Their take of Chicago Pizza is... creative. The Tonkotsu ramen looks delicious.
Creative is being very, very kind. xD

videos*
I always like how you say you're not really hungry so you'll order something small, and then go on to order a full evening meal, with an extra large rice. :D
Haha, I knew you were gonna order curry the moment you opened the noodles menu! :D
you totally turned me on to curry rice, I've been buying japanese curry at the store and making beef curry at home. Definitely something I want to try the authentic version of whenever I make it to Japan!
Actually, the are pretty damn close to what it tastes like in Japan. Most people in Japan use the same blocks when they cook it at home. And yes.... Japanese curry is so good! 😁😁
That's delicious looking soba at 15:11.
😂
Yay! A new video! I really love your channel.
I don't think that could be less like a Chicago pizza while still technically being a pizza.
True if any REAL Chicago saw that being served, they would shoot the cook, but then again Japan has NO IDEA what a pizza should be.
Not only that. but the Italians do not generally put cheese on a fish dish.
I saw a piece of bacon on the pizza, so I'm assuming it wasn't white pizza. That begs the questions, WHERE IS THE TOMATO SAUCE??!
@@lodrezzon I was thrown more by the bean sprouts? what a strange pizza
I'm not sure what to call that but I would definitely try it 🤓
As soon as I saw the Curry, I knew that was what you were going to have. LOL Love this show and your other one.
I am in Scotland. I find the journeys across Japan really relaxing and love seeing Japanese food. When I am feeling ill I always go to a Japanese Restaurant. Sushi makes you feel better? Really?
15:00 You don't fool us. You will ALWAYS default to Curry.
Another wonderful journey, and yet another beef curry I don't know why you never just order a extra rice as you know you will run out like normal, thank you for sharing your journey

For real! I'm not from Chicago but I would call it a type of nachos or even maybe something like a taco salad. But definitely not pizza.
Totally agree with you both . I grew up in Chicago and that pizza dish looked like it was inspired by taco bell 😊 . I did truly enjoy the video like I always do ❤
Also being from Chicago, I can say for sure that two things are true:

If you ever get to Chicago, STJ, I'm sure there's a bunch of us who would be happy to take you to have the real thing. :)
Chicago Pizza is way overrated. It's not appealing at all, in my opinion. Definitely not the best. Not even on the list.
I know this is a travel & food channel, but I learn alot about the geography of the places in Japan that you travel to. I can't thank you enough for the thorough descriptions of where to board a ferry or what connects to a certain town. I love your videos, I woulld totally invest in a go pro headset cam for the foodie videos =) hands free to munch lol
Great and interesting content. I like it very much. 👍👍👍😍😍😍
Now I’m hungry again🤭 thank you for sharing your journey.
First Meal: Oh, no thank you. tripe is not my favorite. The tuna+yam dish looked delicious! The ryukyu don bowl looked yummy too! Hahaha!! STJ-san you cannot fool us. "Wanna try?"
YES, YES I DO VERY MUCH.
The Chicago pizza looked pretty good value for money. It had a good helping of shirasu too!
The water is so beautiful
You are so funny. I love the broccoli pun. How many tummy’s do you have to consume all that food!! 😋
I have had Thai, Chinese and Indian curries. I will have to have Japanese curry. That pizza, though. Probably good, but more like a Taco Bell Mexican pizza variation. That Yellowtail bowl looked great.
Very lucky! in Japan you actually being served real food that mostly made from real ingredients. Even the worst still the best in most other country.
This is a great food adventure! Thank you!❤
At first I thought the one broccoli jumped ship. But then when you reunited it with its partner and they married, I realized the cherry tomato only wanted his or her adoptive parents back together and you made that happen. You are a good man, Mr. Solo.
This is a wonderful video, I really loved it! Thank you STJ!
Like everyone else said. I don't know what that was (maybe a weird Mexican pizza?) But it sure as hell wasn't a Chicago pizza.
Not me being surprised you didn't order the curry, instead of noodles. And then curry appears on the table. 😂💙
Very nice. Thank you. (I knew you would go for the curry...)
I'm unsure if that can even be called a pizza but it certainly looked interesting!
Another great trip, thanks for sharing it with us
I am sorry you had a tough day, but it looks like the food and sake helped with that. The "pizza" isn't really deep dish at all- it does look like a giant tortilla chip. Everything else looked great- thanks for taking us along.
Had a good chuckle at lost brocoli 😂
it's a good thing you were on board to make that last second decision to rescue that curry from the kitchen - you get your curry freak gold star today 🌟
Look yummy food with amazing tour
Full watched here
I`ll eat small is a big understatement 🙂But I always enjoy your videos!! Looking forward to the next one!
I am SO SURPRISED that you are ready to eat!😊🙄😋 As a Westerner, I would not like to find a nacho instead of a pizza crust on my 'Chicago Pizza.' As an Old Man, I would need an ensuite bathroom. CURRY! 10/10 for the video! Victory!
So excited to see Yokosuka. Was born there in 1984.
I love your food adventures!
I think you can compete the big eater contest in Japan... it's midnight and you can order and eat so much... I'm really impressed 😂 and no surprise that you ordered curry, hahaha
"Curry destiny" 🤣ROFL!!!🤣
Very impressed with the quality of food, except for "Chicago pizza." And the late dining option was nice.
I am happy that broccoli couple finally get married 😄
Nice trip,delicious food
Great video.I liked the Costa coffee since that is my family name.😊
Around 16:00 Some mistakes taste great!
I love this video so so muchh thank you
Wait til Jon Stewart sees that “Chicago Pizza”!! 😂
I almost always get hungry watching you. AHH! Curry! MMMM.
The smaller the cabin the more time spent in the restaurant.
yum!
Thanks for the video ❤
I've never seen a pizza like the one eaten in this video, and I know that a lot of people have already commented on this. :)
It's still an interesting video, as always, and, once again, I'm hungry from watching it, and I ate just before so that I wouldn't be. haha
"Chicago pizza" 😂😂😂
That is an interesting take on Chicago Pizza.
Curry instead of soba. Needs more rice. Twice! that's the STJ we've all come to know and love!

Western breakfast with Japanese flourish…soup and salad not breakfast as I know it, though it seems like a good idea.
oh my goodness, has it really been two years already? That's still neither Chicago nor pizza! It's more like a bechamel nacho bowl! XD and of course your hand slipped and you got the curry...
Please tell me what is on top of that pizza besides the cheese. 😂 love your travels!!
There is nothing in Chicago that looks like that Chicago pizza you ordered. 😯
That "Chicago Pizza" looks tastier than an actual Chicago style pizza (thick crust with deep deep sauce layer - like a hot tomato quiche).
Wait, what are the statutes?
You seem to have my luck with rooms. I always manage to get the ones at the far end of the hallway.😢😢

I don't understand the "pizza" 😄
The second option at the bottom to the left...isn't that how the language is changed?
Japan is only place on Earth, where ferry food looks better than most of stuff in european Restaurants. Hope to try it someday.
I ordered soba 🤣🤣 sure u did order curry rice
Actually, they still DON'T have Chicago Pizza. ⛔
The pizza's closer to an American style taco salad if anything.
Could you please tell us your secret HOW can you eat so much? We struggle with overweight here and would have eaten one meal divided by two and would be full! No hard feelings just honestly CURIOUS
If you took that pizza to Chicago, they might burn you at the stake 😂
👍
Looks more like a taco bowl. Please come have a Chicago Pizza.
That is not Chicago pizza. It looks like it is trying to be a taco salad.
I still remember that pizza from the old video.
I think I would have chosen exactly what you had for your midnight snack, although I think I would have stopped with one serving of the buri donburi! Shirasu all the little eyes of those baby sardines looking accusingly at me 😢
Not Chicago pizza at all...
I don't know who in the "West" has broccoli for breakfast - but it ain't me.😁
Another excellent video! We very much enjoy them! However, the “Chicago pizza” is not a pizza of any kind, in any way whatsoever
