    Just a hunch: I think Clinger will be just fine offensively once he gets his feet wet. Like Nurk, he'll be a good passer and in pick n roll, but hopefully more efficient scoring around the hoop. That's enough.

    I don’t think it’ll take stats like that for Shaedon to get a max. You mentioned Franz, who had a great rookie year and has been a little up and down since, and has yet to average 20ppg. The extension wouldn’t kick in until 2026. While I think 27-5-5 is in the ballpark of what it takes to be worth that money, he’d just need to be good enough for them to project that he can do that as he enters his prime rather than needing to do it this season. I think if he has decent efficiency and puts up a statline like 22-5-4, especially knowing that he was always going to be an upside projection rather than an immediate contributor, there will be max extension conversations. For perspective, Ant Edwards averaged 25-6-4 two seasons ago. Shae just needs to get close to that

    nowadays players signs max deal based on his potential, based on his history.. what about to earn it first, have a solid 70+ game season with 22+ ppg 4 rebounds 3 assists, solid defence with some leadership..starting 140mil 5 year contract should be fine for sharpe, scoot i would say 120mil 5 year

    I think keeping Anfernee around and bringing Shaedon off the bench (unless a great deal comes along for Simons) helps Portland out when it comes time to give Shaedon an extension. They don't need him to be great soon, they need him to be great years from now, and keeping his playing time and profile down for now gives them negotiating leverage.

      That said, you definitely should feel sorry for us: Weaver was the very worst GM in the history of the sport, and the new guy hiring Tobi suggests that either
      A) he's just as stupid as Weaver was, or
      B) Arn Tellem is still running the team (badly).

      The new CBA is going to get weird for us. $25 million a year in 2026-27 (the year that Shaedon's extension would start) is likely less than 15% of the salary cap. Starter money is more like 20% and up... I think 20%-ish could end up being totally fair depending on what happens this season. But that's north of $30 million annually. It's going to take a while for the money to make sense in our brains with the cap rising so quickly the next couple years. The salary numbers are going to seem big (because they are! sheesh! but thinking % of the cap is probably an easier way to judge fairness/value)

      I am not sure if Sharpe will become like Kobe Bryant, but it's far too early to let him walk at the age of 21. If he doesn't perform well, he won't get a large contract from any team anyways. Last season was a downer though.

      @wrayven Месяц назад +2

      @@joshnewton4147 The worst case scenario is the Blazers will wait until the 2026 offseason to allow Sharpe to become a restricted free agent. This will allow other teams to determine his value and to see if the Blazers want to match that offer. If he doesn't make an All-NBA team, Sharpe won't be eligible for a large contract anyways. Sharpe hasn't shown that he wants to be as great as his potential seems to be. Hopefully that changes this season as Sharpe definitely has the skill set to become a better than above average NBA player.
