What an awesome series. There is a severe lack of e28 content on youtube so one as fun/detailed as this is great to see. Really hoping to enjoy more e28 stuff in the future from you guys!
Thank you for making this series! I have a 1988 BMW 528e and love it to death, and this video series helped me get some ideas for upgrades in the near future. Please continue to post these!
Such a cool daily driver! I'd love to see some more builds like this where you're making improvements which end of improving the quality of a daily driven car while still be fun to drive.
the alpina rims and cow catcher front spoiler really set this car off.. love it .... we had the 525ETA over the water which was pretty much the same ... revs to about 4500 etc but gave great MPG ...... love the car lets see more
looks great! I thought this was a fun video series on the e28 although I am partial to bmws. Its good to see a clean example being driven and taken care of this way as a lot of people neglect their older cars!
Not a fan of the Alpina front splitter but absolute love the E28. Got a few plans of my own for an E28 but that`s quite hush for now.... Great job, love to see more vids like this. Big thumbs up
Right on man, what a beautiful job with the overhaul. Im surprised (and happy for you!) to hear how much you like the coilovers.. I would say the key here is to make sure they're set up properly. I have a 535i which I recently did a full suspension oiverhaul on. When I bought the car, the handling was good, but the ride was absolutely terrible. The previous owner had 'stanced' the car out a little too much for my liking - but at the time,m I didnt realize that that 'upgrade' had completely ruined the suspension. When I went to a more stock setup (stock suspension mounts etc. w/ ireland engineering springs and bilstein tourings, w all new bushings ctrl arms and ireland engineering sway bar kit) the car was complelety transformed and I now have seen the light - what these cars are meant to drive like. Night and day difference - it soaks up the bumps remarkably well, it maintains about the same ride height, theres a tiny bit more body roll but overall it handles *better* than before, and just floats over everything. I LOVE IT. So be careful with coilovers and make sure they're sert up properly!! Sounds like you did :) Enjoy it in good health fellow e28 lover ;)
Your 528 looks amazing and seems to drive beautifully. I love the Alpina rims. I wish you had kept the powered seats... Overall well done! Please keep us posted with more videos on your BMW oldtimer.
Hey Pete, great job and video series. I thoroughly enjoyed this type of video, please keep them coming. Another simple upgrade that you can add to your BMW would be some colorful Alpina pin stipping. That, in my opinion, would set it off. Still though the car looks great.
Ihr habt den guten alten e28 super schön und trotzdem noch dezent zu einem neuen Leben verholfen! 👍 Very good job!!! 🇺🇸 Viele Grüße aus Bayern, der Heimat eures BMWs! 🇩🇪
Please, find a BMW E30 to work on and maybe to turn into a track car! I wish there was more good quality material online concerning 80's BMWs. They have such a strong appeal and I would love to see you guys working on them. Hopefully I'm not the only one :)
If you can't say something positive then don't say anything at all. Great Video. I hope to do at least partial what he's done to his BMW when i get mine. Love it. You had me looking up parts and the whole thing.
Congrats on finishing. Love how it looks. Gotta say I'm a little (pleasantly) surprised at how much you liked the Fortune Auto coilovers! They have always had the stance and drift crowd associated with them; and therefore I never associated them with higher-quality coilovers. Maybe I'll give them a shot when my DD needs suspension.
Did something specific happen to the rear alignment (i.e. hit a curb?) or is that just cumulative wear over the life of the car? How does it affect tire wear?
Its probably a combination of worn out bushings and the change in geometry from lowering the car. All in all the real blame is that trailing arm suspension is absolutely garbage in every way and personally I'd considerate to be on the same level as a live axle.
@@Matt-sz5po so you’re saying an E28 shouldn’t be powerful, what about the M5/Alpina/Hartge variants those weren’t powerful? I’m not saying to LS swap the thing but a more modern engine like an M50 would work, keep it in the family why not 🤷🏻♂️
Wow your e28 look sweet as mate , can not wait to start rebuilding my E30 m54 conversion. I’ve got a S50B32 euro engine even many parts to build engines ,
Remember the days you could drive a lowered car in Toronto? Good old days, Young st in the summer civics egs Z24's Foxbody mustangs z28 all cruising down town T O then drive to hwy 7 and the rest is history ;)
I love it.. Here in Norway they are rare as hens teeth due to the corrosion.. I would stop driving it in the winter and get a cheapo Korean or Japanese car for the rust to eat. :)
You get incredible mileage with you car, mine is so bad compared to it ! I get 14l/100km (around 17mpg I guess) The automatic eats so much energy, I have to 3.73 rear end too. The 2.7 M20 has torque yeah, but the cylinder head choks the engine higher in the rev range. It's like a diesel behaved gas engine. I'll go with the m20b20 cylinder head to retain compression ratio, give it a b25 throttle body and intake manifold, and ditch the motronic 1.0 for the 1.3 off an e30, to wake up this good engine a bit. Anyway I was happy to watch this series PT ! Consider keeping off the winter a bit but you're right to enjoy your ride, it looks and certainly drives sweet I'm sure !
E24 and E28 are my favourite ones. TBH I wasn't surprised when he mentionend eating through rotors too quickly after seeing his driving... he drives this thing like an automatic, every possible moment when he doesn't need acceleration he goes into neutral and absolutely doesn't use the engine to help breaking.
E28 ... one of the greatest designs ever. looks great with the alpina wheels.
I want one, my dream car
Just bought myself a M535i E28 with Alpina Kit. Beautiful car.
Well you should look at the e12 its even cooler imo
@@jbods1998 Can I ask about the price and the condition as I'm in the marketing on buying the same.
What an awesome series. There is a severe lack of e28 content on youtube so one as fun/detailed as this is great to see. Really hoping to enjoy more e28 stuff in the future from you guys!
The series is very relevant for the E24 as well, so thanks for embarking on this project. Now, about that eta engine.........
Thank you for making this series! I have a 1988 BMW 528e and love it to death, and this video series helped me get some ideas for upgrades in the near future. Please continue to post these!
The E28... absolutely a beautiful classic!!
Man , that’s a beauty , happy for you and happy to see this model living so well in 2019
I Love the E28 it's absolutely Beautiful. I have been looking for one. I had a e12 when I was a teenager and I wish I never got rid of it.
Ok gonna be honest those Alpina wheels looking super fucking good
Such a cool daily driver! I'd love to see some more builds like this where you're making improvements which end of improving the quality of a daily driven car while still be fun to drive.
Absolutely love this car, I enjoy these smaller projects and oem+ way of doing it. I'd love to own this car. Now we need more Celica content !
Sometimes watching these smaller projects being done is just as entertaining!
Sweet car!
Honestly I've never heard anyone say vague the way you say it 😂 caught me off guard just like when I first heard y'all say Celica 😂
that definitely got me too hahah
Vaggg
lol sounded just like the swedish word väg=road :P
My friends and me call this process 'deshitboxing' it's so satisfying, good job!
This was a great series. Very helpful, and happy to see this platform (E28) get a do it yourself build thread. Thank you!
That constant grin says it all. Well done and thank goodness it's not over-modded!
I love those blue sport seats. I've been searching high and low since you posted this series!
the alpina rims and cow catcher front spoiler really set this car off.. love it .... we had the 525ETA over the water which was pretty much the same ... revs to about 4500 etc but gave great MPG ...... love the car lets see more
beautiful E28:)
What a clean e28!!
VAG!! Lol love you guys, awesome build here
Car looks lovely man, now you have to get a M88 engine!
Great video, keep it coming.
Ooof that looks good. Def. dont winter drive it, not that many bmws in that shape around in Ontario!
Nice to meet you,
I'm looking forward to it
I'm from Japan, and I own E28 for 25 years.
looks great! I thought this was a fun video series on the e28 although I am partial to bmws. Its good to see a clean example being driven and taken care of this way as a lot of people neglect their older cars!

Really enjoyed the BMW refurbishment. Can’t wait for more!
Seeing you do this to your e28 gave me inspiration to do work on my w201

This car really does remind me of my own daily a bit. A lot of little upgrades to make it more fun to drive.
Loved the series . Thank You
I really dig it, that's a nice little daily car. Also it seemed like a fun break from the usual go fast content.
loving the work you have done to this ... looks the part and does what you need it to ...
Super sharp bummer, nice job!
Your 528 looks amazing and seems to drive beautifully. I love the Alpina rims. I wish you had kept the powered seats...
Overall well done! Please keep us posted with more videos on your BMW oldtimer.
Good job. The old Bimmer looks very good.
Yes! Beauty! My dad had a dark blue E28 528i Euro without the front air dam.
What a nice car!! Great build!
Thats a good looking classic car, colour, wheels and stance really suit it.
Beautiful car man. Congratulations!!!
That car looks so awesome. The euro bumpers are so much better.
5 years wow, great looking car

Good work guys!
Come hangout in Grosse Pointe, we could get a few E28 guys out.
It needs some more agressive look but not to out there something that makes it look beefier but yet stays elegant. I suggest (fender flares)
Ihr habt den guten alten e28 super schön und trotzdem noch dezent zu einem neuen Leben verholfen! 👍
Very good job!!! 🇺🇸

Looks boss. Man I always loved E28 M5's but this does a close approximation and I'm sure more than half the price.
Please, find a BMW E30 to work on and maybe to turn into a track car! I wish there was more good quality material online concerning 80's BMWs. They have such a strong appeal and I would love to see you guys working on them. Hopefully I'm not the only one :)
Luca Mantovani 88/89 325i 🤤
YT is especially lacking in e28 content, so this series was fantastic. Proud 85 535i owner here
to many e30 destroyed already...stop it
Was grinding my teeth so hard at you knocking the shifter into neutral all the time!
Looks clean for an old beater!
Other than the color and wheel choice this car is awesome!!
Loving those alpinas man. Sick car.
Thanks! I love the wheels, such a great look.
yess that lakeshore run!!
If you can't say something positive then don't say anything at all. Great Video. I hope to do at least partial what he's done to his BMW when i get mine. Love it. You had me looking up parts and the whole thing.
Nice result,PT!
Awesome outcome!!
These are such sharp looking cars.
1:07 Factory front caster of 7 degrees!? Holy moly, that is a lot!
looks so clean!
OH Pete those jorts are sick!!
I’d say keep driving it in the winter but try your best to maintain it and keep rust away, maybe do some rust proofing to try keeping it kind of nice?
this looks nice and clean, Good job!!
Almost to 200k guys!
Congrats on finishing. Love how it looks. Gotta say I'm a little (pleasantly) surprised at how much you liked the Fortune Auto coilovers! I drove many years a 1984 e28 m528i (euro spec)186 hp.. great fast car for 1984...the frony of the car is great
Did something specific happen to the rear alignment (i.e. hit a curb?) or is that just cumulative wear over the life of the car? How does it affect tire wear?
Its probably a combination of worn out bushings and the change in geometry from lowering the car. All in all the real blame is that trailing arm suspension is absolutely garbage in every way and personally I'd considerate to be on the same level as a live axle.
Wow, that looks so good, got me looking for a e28 now ffs.
@Speed Academy awesome series. The E28 looks so good. What about a series on an E30 resto?
Absolutely love it, all it needs now is power 😉
No, not everything needs power, build a bloody mustang for power not an classic 5series
@@Matt-sz5po so you’re saying an E28 shouldn’t be powerful, what about the M5/Alpina/Hartge variants those weren’t powerful? I’m not saying to LS swap the thing but a more modern engine like an M50 would work, keep it in the family why not 🤷🏻♂️
More rebuild series please ! 🙏🏼
Any future updates on this e28?
Nothing yet. Its currently in hibernation for the winter and will get driven in the summer.
Speed Academy glad to hear your not winter driving this beauty! Have a merry christmas sir.
gorgeous car great job!
FantStic style. Good mods on suspension and breaks. It would be nice to see some spirited driving. 🤙🏼
Maybe your "complaint" about the upgrades, is that it's too nice to be a beater anymore :-)
Wow your e28 look sweet as mate , can not wait to start rebuilding my E30 m54 conversion. I’ve got a S50B32 euro engine even many parts to build engines ,
it's long "a" when you say vague...for Pete's sake!
"vaaaag" lol
should be more like "vaig". his "vaag" hurts my ears.
People really are far too idle.
So... out of the whole video, that's all you have to say about it? A person with only two uploads and they're video games. LMAO
/veɪɡ/
Pete the type of guy too take us from one side of the golden horse shoe too the other in a jump cut
The bimmer is nice- but I'm wanting that Gram LIghts shirt.
Should put the S54 from the 2JZ M3
Great looking car PT!
I have the same car, (535i) even the same color with euro bumpers 2 hours east of Toronto.
Love the stance!! 👍👍
Damn that’s dope, clean af
Looks good. The Euro bumpers go a long way
528e is an ETA model which is the mpg model, if you want performance the 535i or M5 w28 is the answer.
Remember the days you could drive a lowered car in Toronto? Good old days, Young st in the summer civics egs Z24's Foxbody mustangs z28 all cruising down town T O then drive to hwy 7 and the rest is history ;)
Now you just about need a pre runner.
That goes for Ottawa too. Too many times voting liberals into power that don’t understand basic infrastructure.
Heads Up when was this? The roads were always shit
Fix the rear alignment!! Nice upgrade for your daily!
Nice!! Great job!!
I love it.. Here in Norway they are rare as hens teeth due to the corrosion.. I would stop driving it in the winter and get a cheapo Korean or Japanese car for the rust to eat. :)
Period correct wheels @ 0:30
Period correct shorts @ 5:30
Any update videos coming on this car? If you still own it...
Been in storage all winter, just coming out of hibernation but there wont be any videos. Nothing to update you on, she runs and drives like a dream
Congrats! My cravings for old bmw just got worse. :D
captain barge 😂😂😂😂 had to buy me one 535i
I noticed at 1:32, the tech is wrenching on the top of the strut upper mount. Can you tell me what he was doing with those bolts?
He is adjusting the camber on the suspension.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
luxury and sporty spirit
Good ol' Barton Street.
the car looks great! Are they e30 sport seats or e28?
They are E30
The E in the 528E stands for economy.
Eta actually.
