Elisha Cuthbert is another example of Canada punching way above our weight Class in the entertainment industry. The acting overall was excellent. Elisha is outstanding in this.
As a parent this was very hard to watch. As a parent of a different kind of an addict in recovery for about 25 yr. it was very very hard to watch. My adult child is doing great, has a good life & I'm very proud to say that it can happen to others. There is life beyond the addiction. Thanks for the upload!

If Mom had shared the problem with her husband and tackled the problem "head on" as soon as it was obvious she was skipping school, getting bad grades, stealing etc...Keeping it quiet from her husband was a very poor decision on her part and she needed to be stronger in her punishment ....Lots more she could have done before it got worse and worse.

This is a very well made film, superbly acted. Elisha Cuthbert should have won an Oscar for her portrayal of a gambler with a serious problem. Sad story, actually which afflicts so many millions and a certain international parasite makes tons of money off their addiction. Thanks for posting.

This movie is right on! I worked at a casino for eight years and saw it destroy people's lives so often. Gambling is one of worst addictions because it can lead to other things to escape. Drugs, alcohol, prostitution and suicide!! It's a sad thing to watch happen to people.

Absolutely great movie every parent should see. I wouldn't ever want her girlfriend from school because when she (the gambler) made money for the both everything was cool and when troubles shown up she turn her back. Great parents. Thank you for sharing.

Gambling is so magnetic. I used to gamble and it was an addiction. 2007 I weaned off it big time and almost five years ago I quit completely. I don't miss it
People forget to reamber that singers are human and have off days, they get sick and when they are dancing and moving under neath the hot lights they lose their breaths. When a singer has to sing at the top of their lungs it takes a tole on their voice. They aren't robots and the tole of traveling, singing constantly when on tour, stress etc does affect them at times. Give them a break and appreciate their tallent, if you don't like what you are hearing don't listen or go to the concerts. Love to all the many talented artists out there.

Elisha Cuthbert is one of my favourite Canadian actors & she owned her character & the screen 🇨🇦🎞🎬📽 Gambling is a major problem for many people around the world, & it can be just as addicting as narcotics, alcohol, food, sex, porn, etc. & this film sends a powerful message about the dangers of compulsive gambling.

I agree, many lessons in the movie, in my mind the heaviness of addiction (of any sort whether alcohol, drugs, spending, doing things over and over ritualistically, sex, and in this case gambling) can change lives of the person with the addiction and their loved ones. You can change her gambling addiction to any of the addictions that people have a serious propensity for and it is all the same. Once in the pathway of addiction it's so hard to get out. I have a loved one who is addicted to money (not gambling) but she will sell her soul to the devil and anyone else to get the 'high' of ANY money exchange and her mother is addicted to telling lies and fabricating a false life, the addictions are the same--just one preferred and 'lived out' over the other. It is all the same one addictive behavior or the other leads to destructive consequences. Get help if you have any addictive behavior that takes over your life or you have a loved one that suffers from addiction. My family wont listen because they are above us mortal souls that suffer in their aftermaths---that are never ending.
@@lyncastleheights1521 You are absolutely correct. Anything can become an addiction. I don't drink nor do I do drugs. It only takes a few times to become an addict. I thank God non of our large family were addicted to anything outwardly, anyway. Maybe the guys porn?? I don't know because that is usually kept secret, and in ones mind. When it came to playing cards once in a while with family, it was nickel, and dimes. We all kept a can full of our chump change that we won or lost with. This way you couldn't lose your shirt. It was fun, and entertaining maybe 3X a year. Every month tho we had Pinochle club. No money in that game, but lists of fun. I feel if you have an addictive personality you stay away from those things that can really hurt you in the long run. You said it well for all things. You could even put morality from God's word in that statement too. Thank you for your comment. All of that wasn't on my mind until I read your post. Wow a lifetime movie that's not terrible? Actually enjoyed this, and even though it's exaggerated it really shows what a slippery slope gambling can be.
This was one of the last of the good Lifetime movies this came out on 2001 I think .. Within 2000-2010 was when Lifetime started making cheesy movies bad acting cheesy plots bad directing and bad filming especially the zoom shots.. 😩
Brilliant shows what to look for and to be careful how you go about putting pressure on your children and what lengths your child will go to fix things 😮
I found this movie tough to watch, it triggered me. Not because it was bad, it wasn't, it was accurate in portraying addiction. I don't have addictions as such but have so far endured 50 + years living with Borderline Personality Disorder. There are a lot of similarities in behaviour to those linked with addiction, especially the risk taking and dishonesty, poor choices in associations and legal or financial issues.

I know how bad gambling addiction can be I been battling it for the last 25 years I started around 15 or 16 I had some huge wins which did help me but in the end you will always end up losing it’s a big risk gambling with little reward you need to be very lucky to have a life changing win best way is to save the money you earn and you will see how quickly it builds up and you end up with a very easy comfortable life.
I like this movie. I hate gambling and have no problem with that, but I understand how these people feel because I'm battling heroin addiction for 15 years. So many times have been clean and thought it was behind me, but I always go back. I love it and I will never completely stop.

Absolutely great movie every parent should see. I wouldn't ever want her girlfriend from school because when she (the gambler) made money for the both everything was cool and when troubles shown up she turn her back. Great parents. Thank you for sharing.

Gambling is so magnetic. I used to gamble and it was an addiction. 2007 I weaned off it big time and almost five years ago I quit completely. I don't miss it

People forget to reamber that singers are human and have off days, they get sick and when they are dancing and moving under neath the hot lights they lose their breaths. When a singer has to sing at the top of their lungs it takes a tole on their voice. They aren't robots and the tole of traveling, singing constantly when on tour, stress etc does affect them at times. Give them a break and appreciate their tallent, if you don't like what you are hearing don't listen or go to the concerts. Love to all the many talented artists out there.

Elisha Cuthbert is one of my favourite Canadian actors & she owned her character & the screen 🇨🇦🎞🎬📽 Gambling is a major problem for many people around the world, & it can be just as addicting as narcotics, alcohol, food, sex, porn, etc. & this film sends a powerful message about the dangers of compulsive gambling.
very good movie, disturbingly real,, but a good way of teaching kids and parents, how things can go horribly wrong. when we hide our activities from parents, but as a parent, we must accept our share of the blame, I remember how difficult life can be growing up, knowing your limits, and understanding consequences helps, also thinking how our actions can and do effect others.!! An Even good intelligent kids, (like many adults) do, make poor decisions we label mistakes but when we love our kids we stand by them. it doesn't mean we condone their actions, but some love is and should be, unconditional Canada produces many fine movie, such as "Leolo" and "The fast Runner", I hope this movie produces some good prevention motivating. thank you

I agree, many lessons in the movie, in my mind the heaviness of addiction (of any sort whether alcohol, drugs, spending, doing things over and over ritualistically, sex, and in this case gambling) can change lives of the person with the addiction and their loved ones. You can change her gambling addiction to any of the addictions that people have a serious propensity for and it is all the same. Once in the pathway of addiction it's so hard to get out. I have a loved one who is addicted to money (not gambling) but she will sell her soul to the devil and anyone else to get the 'high' of ANY money exchange and her mother is addicted to telling lies and fabricating a false life, the addictions are the same--just one preferred and 'lived out' over the other. It is all the same one addictive behavior or the other leads to destructive consequences. Get help if you have any addictive behavior that takes over your life or you have a loved one that suffers from addiction. My family wont listen because they are above us mortal souls that suffer in their aftermaths---that are never ending.

You are absolutely correct. Anything can become an addiction. I don't drink nor do I do drugs. It only takes a few times to become an addict. I thank God non of our large family were addicted to anything outwardly, anyway. Maybe the guys porn??
I don't know because that is usually kept secret, and in ones mind.
When it came to playing cards once in a while with family, it was nickel, and dimes.
We all kept a can full of our chump change that we won or lost with. This way you couldn't lose your shirt. It was fun, and entertaining maybe 3X a year. Every month tho we had Pinochle club. No money in that game, but lists of fun.
I feel if you have an addictive personality you stay away from those things that can really hurt you in the long run.
You said it well for all things. You could even put morality from God's word in that statement too.

Wow a lifetime movie that's not terrible? Actually enjoyed this, and even though it's exaggerated it really shows what a slippery slope gambling can be.
This was one of the last of the good Lifetime movies this came out on 2001 I think .. Within 2000-2010 was when Lifetime started making cheesy movies bad acting cheesy plots bad directing and bad filming especially the zoom shots.. 😩
Brilliant shows what to look for and to be careful how you go about putting pressure on your children and what lengths your child will go to fix things 😮

I found this movie tough to watch, it triggered me. Not because it was bad, it wasn't, it was accurate in portraying addiction. I don't have addictions as such but have so far endured 50 + years living with Borderline Personality Disorder. There are a lot of similarities in behaviour to those linked with addiction, especially the risk taking and dishonesty, poor choices in associations and legal or financial issues.

I know how bad gambling addiction can be I been battling it for the last 25 years I started around 15 or 16 I had some huge wins which did help me but in the end you will always end up losing it’s a big risk gambling with little reward you need to be very lucky to have a life changing win best way is to save the money you earn and you will see how quickly it builds up and you end up with a very easy comfortable life.

I like this movie. I hate gambling and have no problem with that, but I understand how these people feel because I'm battling heroin addiction for 15 years. So many times have been clean and thought it was behind me, but I always go back. I love it and I will never completely stop.
