020: Import and Export Data: free training webinar for FileMaker Citizen Developers

FileMaker can import data from many different sources, but it is rarely simple. Data from one source sometimes needs to land in separate tables. And what about field validation rules? Can we import a batch of images? What if the source data has no primary key values? In this webinar, I employ several easy yet powerful techniques to overcome these obstacles. We will create temporary fields, temporary relationships, write calculations, and use the Replace Field Contents command to enter the missing data after importing that will solidify relationships between records and make up for what your Excel data did not have. In some cases, where it makes the job easier, we’ll take the reverse approach and write Lookup functions in Excel to create the missing data before importing into FileMaker.
