Like everything in NFL, all problems and solutions stem from QB. Also, wether your paying Jones 40 mil or 40k, what he gets paid cannot be a factor in how your building your team. Obviously he is overpaid, but either roll with it or cut him, don't use the excuse your paying him 40 mil as to why you make decisions at other positions

Because a WR can be effictive well within to their mid 30s while a RB is practically done late 20s, also cap for a RB is like 13 mil whole a WR is like 25

Daniel Jones has more fumbles and Ints then he has TDs.... Your Oline don't decide where your QB throws to and its not their fault he loves to throw to the defense more then his receivers
Anytime they handed the ball of to the 12m dollar back he got them at least to the 60 yard line just for jones to start trying to get yards and give the ball back
That is nothing but utter disrespect to the RB position as a whole. Saquon was the best part of that offense and they couldn't help him. It has been proven that a good run game can help a QB be successful in the pass game and the NFL seems to forget that point!
The media never provides real context in these debates. At the time DJ was given that contract there were no other QB options that were viable for the Giants and he had just won a playoff game. Its clear that the Giants wanted to keep them both and the decision to extend DJ made more sense in the long run. If the Giants would have franchised DJ and signed S.B, that would have been more of a cap hit which would have not allowed them to BUILD THE TEAM in 2023.Then if you factor in the cap increase coming, D.J's contract is going to look even better.Yes, S.B was the best player on the team but this team averaged 5 -6 wins since he had been with the NYGs. Look at these other teams with like 3-4 offensive pro bowler players. Those teams arent only winning solely because of their respective QBs. Pat Mahommes isnt great simply because of his talent. He also has had consistentcy throughout his career. S.B was our only talent and to pay him for the same production that you can get out of a younger player would've been foolish.
There were no other QB options available? Derek Carr and Geno are better options. And way cheaper. Garner Minshew is better than him. Look at Sam Darnold. The better option was sign a vet or draft a rookie and save money while building the rest of your team. That’s what the best teams do
I don’t see either of his comments as “disrespectful”. He said they aren’t paying Daniel Jones all that money to hand off to a $20 mil RB. Emphasis is on Jones, and how he needs to earn the contract, not Barkley. Say what you want about ‘next man up”, no one’s feeling confident with 3 practice squad guys playing in one unit. That isn’t “disrespect” it’s reality
whole lot of daniel jones haters in these comments. hes finally got a functioning oline barring injuries, give him a chance. this could be his last year anyway stop being so negative, enjoy the football we've had worse years line-up wise
Hard Knocks is the best thing for solving ingrained dysfunction. There's no hiding, sweeping problems under the rug. Anyone, including the Giants can see change has to come. Personally it might be a bit embarrassing, but for the organisation it'll speed their recovery.
I don’t get why GMs aren’t evolving with Free Agency. Build both trenches, get good skill players on both sides and every free agent QB will already be looking to go there thinking they’re the missing piece. Some fans may not like the building process but it’s the best way in these times. Ask the cowboys they buy, buy, buy and end up done in the playoffs.
I'm not so sure about Joe Schoen being a good GM. Look at some of the moves he has made: signing Daniel Jones big contract, letting Saquon go for nothing, Evan Neal is a bust, trading for a Darren Waller who retired. Schoen will be heading into a 3rd year and the Giants are going backwards not forwards. Granted Jones got hurt, but a few team lost starting QB and did not collapse.
That waller trade was a low risk high reward situation. Did you forget everybody else who schoen drafted? Evan neal hasn’t lived up to anything yet but what about everybody else he drafted. $40mil a year is top 15 money so idk why you’re complaining
@@johnj2809 talking specifically that waller trade. He’s trying to build a pass heavy offense because thats what successful in the league. A good o line and receivers is the key to success in the league rn

He knew what he was doing saying this on hard knocks 🙄. I'm a fan of DJ too but the injuries and turnovers are still a concern here.
That couldn't be further from the truth though. They made a very, very competitive offer - they declined. So, the team pivoted to option B. How can they be idiots?
Honestly, it seems like some of the most productive guys on the field are being let go. I thought you wanted to build with the guys who are playing well.
I'm sure Aiyuk is loved in that locker room, and him not getting a good deal is a bad sign for veterans there, if it is a long term thing it could potentially cause riffs in the locker room, could be a lowkey sign of the ending of Shanahan era in San Fran (all speculation of course)

Too much of that conversation was about what other teams needed. They focused on saving money and not doing what it takes to win. They let the fans down.
McVay's record against the 49ers should be 4-11 but because the 49ers locked up the 1 seed last year they sat starters and used the backups. Just had to mention that.

Right? Every player I sign I would believe in being able to start bc it might happen😂
@@TILIS214because you had so many injuries 😂😂 what do you mean? That’s like saying “if you can’t beat the best team’s starters with your 3rd string why are they on the team”. You think the bottom of any teams depth chart would beat the eagles starters?
IF JOE BURROW TOOK THE BENGALS TO THE SUPER BOWL WITH EASILY THE WORST OL THEN THE GIANTS DONT HAVE MUCH OF AN EXCUSE.... THEIR PROBLEM IS DANIEL JONES
Lol. Bro u really comparing the Bengals to Giantts? Im not saying Jones is that guy bur c’mon Begals have Chase,Higgins and Mixon
@@rome7570 no im saying they can’t blame the OL for their past couple of years of failure. and im not saying they can make it to the super bowl either, but blaming the OL instead of the real root of their issues is crazy
boyd the 3rd bengals wr wouldve been the clear wr1 with the giants lol
@@rome7570they don’t have Mixon anymore
Do the giants have tee higgens, Chase, Boyd, and mixon ?
Just saw Mike t on hard knocks jets with him and Rex Ryan talking about eating 3 bags of pretzels m&ms
The fact the GM blamed the Oline for daniel jones but then say saquon needs to be better
Why on earth did the Giants allow themselves to be on Hard Knocks?!
You can't win without an oline - it's never happened.
Incompetence all away around. Giants front office shows why they are losing. & the fact the analyst don't point out the fact that Barkley left a losing organization who used the QB salary not to pay a RB to go to a winning org that pays their QB more. Point out the incompetence of the Giants front office specifically Joe Schoen who drafted Daniel Jones
Joe schoen didn't draft jones it was Dave Gettleman but Schoen is a idiot for giving him that new contract for 40 mil
Injuries kept the OLine from being synchronized.
Giants badly need to start over at the QB position
I honestly dont get the "disrespect" AJ brown heard. The giants are a clownshow, I still can't believe they paid Daniel Jones that much. Daniel Jones deserves backup money.
Hes not wrong.. He isnt.. If you have the worst OLine in ages, IDC who you got back there at QB your not gonna win a lot of games. Protect the QB.
Well they should have just drafted a younger qb and saved that 40 mil a year to get some lineman
They are possibly the worst run team in football. They should be in full on tank mode, if they don't screw that up.
Giants will regret this for a long time
Holding on to the ball? He doesn’t even have time to
Look down the field. 😂 Saquon made a smart move, get paid and play some where else who has a decent o line. Can’t wait for this game against the eagles!
Titans identity for years lol
I don't get it ... Saquon Barley had 1300 yards in 2022... A J Brown had 1400 yards in 2022 but A.J had a 25 million dollars contract.... How is not paying a RB that puts up similar yards not worth it...
Because a WR can be effictive well within to their mid 30s while a RB is practically done late 20s, also cap for a RB is like 13 mil whole a WR is like 25
Imagine the Giants kept Barkley and Odell ? And found them a decent QB. This front office is terrible

The bottom line is the Giants will be at the bottom again this year. Daniel Jones is a C quarterback at best. Although, I don't blame Jones for taking advantage of stupidity😅.
They shouldnt of paid jones that money he's a back up qb at best...whoever made that decision should lose their job
I like how they showed 3 bad plays with Barkley 😂😂
Is your biggest issue was your offensive line, why didn’t you draft an offensive lineman with your number one pick or why didn’t you search for top free agents on the office line during free agency?
Sequon carried the Giants when he played- as a Running Back...
OBJ carried the Giants WAYYY better then Saquon ever did. OBJ made our offense decent & he was our only threat, Saquon made our offense still bottom 5
@@brandonmoyd2942OBJ was catching passes from a Hall of Fame QB. Saquan was running behind the worse Oline in the league.... It's also easier to stack the box against a RB then to double cover a WR.... Learn football

If you don’t know nothing about NYG keep your mouth shut kids
I love teaching Football to casual kids who know nothing about NYG🤣
NYG ranked 5th in rush yards BEFORE CONTACT per carry 2019-2022 and BUF ranked 4th
Yards per carry:
Devin Singletary (4.5), Saquon Barkley (4.3)
Yards after contact per carry:
Singletary (3), Barkley (3)
Missed tackles forced per carry:
Singletary (0.2), Barkley (0.15)
Explosive run play rate:
Singletary (12.4%), Barkley (10.5%)
Those stats above have nothing to do with OL, only the player. But of course yall can’t comprehend LMAO
I respect Mike T. for even getting out there and trying to catch the ball. As a player I'd think it's cool. Also, why is being honest about a bad O-line a bad thing???
Lamar, Josh, and Patrick would have the giant in the playoffs with their roster. Daniel jones ain’t that guy, y’all thought he was an off brand Eli and Peyton . 😂
When healthy, he is a threat but he'll give you 5-6 productive games. Overrated, but he should get a boost in stats with the Eagles for sure.
Saquan has played more games then D'Andre Swift and Swift had ZERO issues staying healthy in Philly.... Everyone knows playing 9 games in NY is guaranteed injury. Thomas has missed games,Jones missed games,Kayvon has missed games, McKinney has missed games,Slayton has missed games.... See the pattern I'm getting st
He isn’t the only person you gotta worry about in Philly.. in New York you’re only concern was stopping him, I mean teams were literally daring Jones to throw the ball
Whenever Mike says we did something wrong it makes me feel very comfortable with Joe decisions.
If the gm with the new York giants it's gone by thanksgiving then they got more issues in the front office that's not talked about enough!!
Hearing Dominque’s take and Dan as well… shows the problem with the NFL mindset. Dominique was ok with Saquon getting a measely 12 million and said nothing about Jone’s 40 million. THATS THE PROBLEM!! Dominique has been the NFL PA President and he’s ok with “ok” QB’s getting paid more than star Running Backs? Insane!
And the fact that dude is seriously comparing Daniel Jones to Pat Mahomes 🤣🤣🤣
Saquon was arguably a comeback player in the league last year and deserved a new deal! The Giants didn't even pay DJ top 10 money. They were terrible last year and will be terrible this year!
Rank Player AAV
1 Joe Burrow $55 million
2 Jared Goff $53 million
3 Patrick Mahomes $52.65 million
4 Justin Herbert $52.5 million
5 Lamar Jackson $52 million
6 Jalen Hurts $51 million
7 Kyler Murray $46.1 million
8 Deshaun Watson $46 million
9 Kirk Cousins $45 million
10 Josh Allen $43 million
It’s amazing people say Barkley was not good because the line was trash, but can’t say jones wasn’t good because of that same line.
Imagine extending your QB, going into that QB's 6th year in the league, and still not having an evaluation on him. Wtf?
That’s what the best teams do
This is how the front office takes no accountability
Saquan didn't want to be in NY. Went to Harrisburg HS and wanted to play for Philly. Period
Giants had full editorial control of the show. Joe let these stay in the episode he stands behind everything you hearing.
This aged like wine. That whole room tried to save that GM. Daniel Jones was released halfway thru the season.
NEW YORK GIANTS HAVE RELEASED DANIEL JONES!!!!!
A lot of pressure on Jones who played horrifically last I remember

@@wk2259 Daniel Jones is a bad QB bro. Don't be delusional.
Hard Knocks is the best thing for solving ingrained dysfunction. There's no hiding, sweeping problems under the rug. Anyone, including the Giants can see change has to come. Personally it might be a bit embarrassing, but for the organisation it'll speed their recovery.
The problem with Schoen's thinking is that Jone's is not a $40 mil QB. Closer to $4 mil.
This was waaaaay better of a watch than First Take today. I can't stand the people on First Take from this morning.
@@Jeremy-vp3yr What type of team is he building, what is the team's identity? Low risk high rewards?
@@johnj2809 talking specifically that waller trade. He’s trying to build a pass heavy offense because thats what successful in the league. A good o line and receivers is the key to success in the league rn
Letting Saquan walk was a big mistake; their was; no offers, no negotiations, nothing, a top 10 RB; replaced by Devin Singletary, he doesn't even rank; in the top 25; major step backwards.
Or utilize your 12 million dollar back to compliment your 40 million dollar QB. I'm not against them not wanting to pay him entirely, but I think they handled this the worst possible way. He knew what he was doing saying this on hard knocks 🙄. I'm a fan of DJ too but the injuries and turnovers are still a concern here.
Giants are idiots... They really chose to prioritize a stiff in Daniel Jones over Saquon
😂😂😂
That couldn't be further from the truth though. They made a very, very competitive offer - they declined. So, the team pivoted to option B. How can they be idiots?
Daniel Jones has to go
Honestly, it seems like some of the most productive guys on the field are being let go.
Dumpster fire still burning strong in NY
Daniel jones in the ski mask hall of fame 🐐
The Mahomes glazing is crazy, we have literally seen him behind an offensive line that bad and he got blown out
They upgraded the line to help saquan just to let him go 😂😂😂
Nah they did that for Danny because they paid him already
EVERYBODY are saying it's the Player's that are terrible.
NOBODY is addressing the Coaching Staff!
Coaching MATTERS, doesn't matter if it's little league or Professional, Coaching matters!
It's not ALL on the Player's, those coaches should get some of the blame as well.
That goes for EVERYONE, not just in Sports, in Life in general!
They laugh at and mock Daniel Jones for having the same stats as their crush Lawrence, then with a straight face try to tell us that Kyler Murray is a playoff threat... SMH make it make sense
Too much of that conversation was about what other teams needed. They focused on saving money and not doing what it takes to win. They let the fans down.
Their level of analysis and understanding of building a team sound like that of high school freshmen
GM should be fired
McVay's record against the 49ers should be 4-11 but because the 49ers locked up the 1 seed last year they sat starters and used the backups. Just had to mention that.
