I was a student at UNC Chapel Hill at the same time Michael was there and saw him play many times. To see him play live was an indescribable experience. You felt like you were in a movie watching something that you couldn't believe wasn't achieved by special effects. His hangtime was beyond belief. You felt like you could write a letter in the time between when his feet left the court to when he made the basket. He always had that competitveness and ability to absolutely take over a game. Yet, when I saw him on campus as a student (we had a class together), I always felt sad for him. He was clearly a very intense individual who valued his privacy, yet you knew people were always coming up to him and bothering him. He always came into class a couple of minutes late (quietlly so as not to draw attention) and was always wearing a walkman with headphones and dark glasses, a clear metphorical wall. It absolutely solidified my realization that I would NEVER want to be famous. And this was before he went to Chicago and became a worldwifde phenom. The constant media and fan attention obviously bothered him a great deal even in the early days, so when you see him handling it so well during his pro career, you can well imagine what difficult work that was for him to appear pleasant and cooperative. No doubt he was miserable much of the time.

Smoking was not promoted as healthy in the late 90s. Also, you don't inhale cigars which is why many athletes still smoke them

The most Michael Jordan thing I’ve ever heard is after he retired and he played golf he built some golf course specialized for him he would have pro golfers come over and this is the hardest course they ever play on. There’s interviews of multiple golfers saying we don’t go over to Michael Jordan‘s house because his golf course is the hardest. I don’t even like golf but I think that’s interesting

I'm glad you mentioned "if you're Jerry, you need to get to the bottom of that, because his job is to run the franchise," as well as that he needed to "stamp that out." First, I assume you mean Jerry Krause, but yes, it's both Krause *and* Reinsdorf's job to *not only* investigate the abuse within the team, but to put a stop to it!
And that, by the way, is another way management failed and helped foster a toxic environment. Players and coaches *did* go to management regarding the toxic behavior within the squad. Both Krause and Reinsdorf almost *made a point* about *doing nothing!* They actively *refused* to punish players and coaches for toxic behavior towards each other, while *endlessly* fining and threatening them with punishments for the most minute "transgressions" (including working out/playing the game on off time) and displaying that toxicity *towards management!*
People talk about Jordan's toxic behavior - and they're right - but that *also* is the fault of management! Management had the power to put a stop to *all* of the toxic behavior in the camp (from multiple players and coaches), and they *purposefully* refused to apparently because they enjoyed watching the players make each other miserable!
Case in point: Krause was noticably quiet about The Jordan Rules book and the potential PR disaster it had the potential to create - apparently because he had no problem at all with the turmoil it caused MJ and everyone around him!

You haven't witnessed how truly great Jordan is until you see "the flu game." I can't wait until that comes up in one of these Last Dance episodes.

Utah had the homecourt advantage in the '98 Finals over the Bulls. Since both the Jazz and Bulls had identical 62-20 records during the regular season, then the head-to-head tiebreaker rule decides who has homecourt. The Jazz beat the Bulls both games they played each other in the regular season so since the Jazz were 2-0 against the Bulls in the regular season, the Jazz had homecourt advantage over them in the Finals.

5:46 uhhhh.. magic played in the 80’s.. idk why you guys are talking about George Mikan 😂😂 they’re a good 20 years apart and the Lakers weren’t even in LA yet, still in Minneapolis, Minnesota. That’s why they’re named after the Great Lakes.

I lived in Chicago during the Jordan era and I HATED John Paxton in college. He played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the sight of his balanced, smooth. lethal shooting stroke irritated me to no end.... until he joined the Bulls. Earned a place in my heart with that Phoenix win. "To Paxon for three..."

Great series The last dance, Jordan unbelievable, just a killer.. Talking basketball and a killer, there's a young woman in the ncaa called Caitlin Clark 22, plays for Iowa, she is insane, the greatest woman I've ever seen play. Think Steph Curry and Magic Johnson and a killer like Jordan and that's Caitlin Clark. She is the biggest collegiate star in all sports. If you watch you will see why. She took March Madness by storm last year and her logo 3s are outrageous. She sells out arena's home and away 15000. On prime time always in the US and she is that big they put her up against Mahomes and the Chiefs against Miami Dolphins in the playoffs a couple of wks ago. She is a phenomenon.

Thank you for mentioning Caitlin! I've been a Hawkeye and basketball fan for 40+ years. She has become probably the most famous thing to ever come out of Iowa!
