Navarathri Golu 2021 (Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple with Performance of BTS )

This years Golu's theme is Madurai Meenakshi Amman presenting the kovil , ther, BTS stage, Meenakshi Amman Thiru Kalyanam along with Vilaku Poojai, Sabarimalai, Raja Alangara Murugan, Shridi Sai Baba and traditional 7-step golu.
Most materials used were recycled to create each part of the Golu.
Kovil (Temple) : The temple was handmade and built using pallets, compressed board, waste flooring tiles, pvc and cardboard, sanathi decorations and many more layers of details added to represent true divinity of the temple.
Ther (Chariot) : Handmade using compressed board, custom cut wheels(functional) and custom cut pillars of various size with added handmade thumbai and horses as decoration to resemble the real chariot in Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple.
BTS Stage: There is a historical connection between South Korea and Tamilnadu and to replicate the history and to add diversity we included the world famous K-Pop boy band BTS in our Chithirai Thiruvizha (Chithirai Festival). We bought the official BTS dolls to represent each member of the group and also made mini mics and Army Bombs out of polymer clay for each member to hold. We also used recycled boxes and materials for the stage.
Dolls : It also includes lots of hand customized dolls to represent the culture and community (using Barbie and Ken dolls)
