The thing with lily though is that she literally got a chance to change her relationship for the better. In all honesty it served up on a silver platter with amnesia and the need of physical therapy. Right now both the selfish and selfless things to do are the same. She wants to be cared and loved by her mother and this is her chance even if her mother returns to her old self later. Lily has enough time later to explore now is her time to try and make the word faimly mean something.
Because at the end of the day family, friends, coworkers, partners, and many many more things only have what meaning you put into it. Yes what the other person puts in is going to effect what your relationship going to mean and there are going to be people in nesrly every group in your life that you going to cut out for both your own good. Always make sure the other person lnows why so they have the knowledge to change even if they do nothing with it. Because it easier to make a break if you can veiw it as helping them as well as helping you. Doesn't mean you can't come and help tgen out of a spot of trouble because they still meant something for you but it means you have to be extra careful not to fall into the same pit again or any others they might of dug since then. Yes it requires to be a better person but it not as scary as people make it out to be. Forgive but never forget what they done. And forgiveness does not mean second chances it means to stray your hand from causing harm against them. A second chance is either earned or given in hopes of making them change once they are broken. Yes they have to be broken for them to change cause very few people fix things unless they break whether it be a car or their attitude.

I get Lillie's plight, but Guzma does have a point. Really, when push comes to shove, there will be people in your family who don't care. Unless you're lucky, of course. And like they said, Lillie should be taking care of HERSELF. This is boarding Stockholm syndrome, Lillie. Guzma just wasn't afraid to rip the band-aid off.
Kinda reminds me of how I dealt with my mother after she developed symtpoms of Alzheimer's.

@@chosenstar724 from when I was old enough to think, til my 20th birthday I was subject to my mother's narcissism and abuse. I know I could've left when I was 18, but I felt trapped by her guilt tripping and gaslighting. I'm also fairly certain that I wouldn't have come into existence if it wasnt for her greed and desire to ruin my father (child support). Despite all of this, I knew that at one point my mother wasn't always the witch she was, and I knew that she and my father both loved each other very much.
Honestly the whole situation was all sorts of terrible and I didn't come out unscathed. My mother and father have both passed on now, I hope that they can find each other in their next lives and live in peace.

I get what Guzma means, you shouldn't keep loving someone even after they've hurt you so often. A term that I hate is "You know they love you right?" right after they do some pretty bad shit, like telling me that they love me even though they have threatened me with a goddamn knife multiple times is kinda of a shitty move. You can't sit there and love someone even after they pain and grief they've caused you, it's like trying to love Ted Bundy even after what he's done. My point is, Guzma is right in saying you shouldn't stick around people like that. It'll only cause more pain in the long run, even if they're better now, you can truly forgive someone for some of their terrible actions.
That being said, I loved this comic dub.

I'm going to take a middle of the road stance in this particular situation. I agree that if a family member is causing trouble you need to distance yourself. However, the situation between Lusamine and Lillie is... REALLY complicated in a way that you wouldn't see in real life. Nihilego venom is nasty stuff. It's an EXTREME mind-altering drug, to the point where it can completely overwhelm a person's ability to control themselves. Lusamine _literally_ wasn't herself at that point.
Still, Lillie should definitely have taken the opportunity to explore Kanto, while making sure to check on her mother every now and then.

I just realized this is based on the game and not the anime. I was so confused...
I like Lusamine's portrayal in the anime better. The anime shows us the kind and caring mother she truly is and who she used to be in the games before she became insanely obsessed with the wormholes and ultra beast. This something the Pokemon series has never done before and It makes me think differently of Lusamine.

You can sometimes guess is it based on anime or game by shape of Guzma's glasses. In anime, one (left I think) part was weirdly shaped.
@@xiesie_xiesie he has his glasses like that during when he was the boss of team skull. post game, you can go to the house on route 2 and he will be there, where he has the outfit in the video, (x on the team skull logo, his glasses being normal and no chain) I’m not too sure if he changes at all within the anime but that is how he is in the game
You know i never really sat down and thought about the theoretical aftermath of pokemon series and im kinda distressed thinking about it...

I get where Guzma is coming from. My family has a fair bit of bitterness too.

They are the people you like to be around.
They are the ones that get you and want to help you get to your goals.

The human race is 1 of the more inteligent species on earth, but we are still idiots for the most part.
That is why we need others that want to help us get to our goals.

Life is horrible alone, so if you can, always try to find friends that will help you.

in the first game, yea Lusamine was pretty evil, but then they nerfed her villainy in every other alola media. So from that i can see why Lillie's trying to take care of her here. so in a sense they're both right.

Guzma was always my favorite character, and well. he wasn't wrong at all.
Remember the house at route 2 with the broken golf clubs? That's Guzma's childhood house. And those clubs may have been used to punish Guzma for getting a bronze or silver cup.
I love the voices you have here, and the dub you made for this was amazing. Thing is, I wasn't expecting Guzma to lay it on so damn thick. Sure, she needs to see that, but that was kinda harsh for someone like Lillie. I can see from both perspectives, and they both have valid points. Despite what happened to Lillie, Lusamine is still her mother, and Lillie would want to get her back after seeing her be a mom again. As for Guzma, he is right. If they don't care, then you should take care of yourself for now. Of course... We know how Guzma feels about abusive parents, and no one knows that better than him.

Unfortunately I side with how Guzma did this because I seen too many situations were beating around the bush or trying to tell someone some kind of advice in a nice way just doesn’t do shit.
If there are two things I have been taught by my family it is this:
1. People are individuals before they are 'family'.
2. ALWAYS look at their actions, NEVER their words!

You can really feel for both of them. You really do get the sense of two similar but still different and equally valid stories.
Guzma grew up with an actual abusive family that chose to not care about him, and while Lillie's family went through a dark time that heavily strained their relations, and definitely traumatized her, they're not abusive. Or at least not the type of abuse Guzma is accustomed with. (Then again, we don't ever see how Lusamine interacts with Lillie after the main story, so there is a chance Lusamine could be pressuring her to not go on her journey at the cost of her mental health, which would no doubt be abuse. I guess I just have a little of a hard time believing that's the case.)
Tl;dr: I think that there's still hope for their family, but in order for that to happen Lillie needs to be taken care of too. Definitely not just Lusamine.

I really hate how usum changed parts of the story. The original ending was bittersweet, having to say goodbye to a lovable friend character and the ambiguous fate of her mother. Love how this comic continues that.
Dang who else felt like that message hit close to home...i agree with Guzma but I can also in understand from Lilie's perspective. Sometimes family can be a piece of crap and will cause you great pain whether they mean to or not. For those who truly don't care it is better to distance yourself before things spiral out of control. For those who do care but you are just struggling to have a pleasant relationship with, sometimes it's better to just let everyone calm down and try to talk things out. If that doesn't work I've found it rather helpful to try and find a space where you can relax and calm your thoughts, maybe with a glass of your favorite drink and a video or book you like. If your really stressed sometimes a calming drink like honey tea can help relieve it. Then after that it's a good idea to try talking things out again. If you give up all together on someone who cares there's the chance of not getting them back for a long time. So for anyone currently struggling with the latter situation. Keep your chin up and keep trying, there so always the chance that things will get better...
2:21 On a lighter side, I think it’s kind of cute she chose Bulbasuar as her starter.
Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon kind of undoes the whole Lillie leaves because her mother is poisoned when they replaced Lusamine with Ultra Necrozma as the final battle after it kicks her and Guzma's asses so she is never possessed by Nihilego.

Yes! Though I think this little detail only got mentioned in post game, so some people may have missed it. I think Wicke was the one who told the player afterwards that Lillie had gone to Kanto together with her mother to treat the Nihilego poisoning there.

Guzman is right guys. Sometimes related by blood doesn't mean you should still care for each other. Guzman had a terrible past so I understand him. He suffered a lot. So his statement is true. You shouldn't care for your family because you are related. You should care for them only if you love them and they love you too.
