I think by adding the stadium into your university zone, you can up the attractiveness quite a bit.
As a viewer, I really wouldn’t mind if you introduced the 81tile mod, just so space isn’t a concern. You could add it whenever you’re not allowed to purchase another tile and unlock it all at once so it wouldn’t cause any weird bug.
I've payed for the whole map, I'm gonna use the whole map!
I would prefer more then the standart amount of tiles when megalegalopolis is reached. Otherwise the series would come to an end....
not sure the bug's has been fixed with 81 tiles mod; last time i tried metro's got messed

The game funnily works the way you had it in the beginning without the hospital. Place all the additional buildings like sauna etc. - then you don't need to place a hospital. As long as you city total free spaces of beds is enough for the ill, you could just place the additional buildings in the rest and be happy and done with it... .

If you're having so much trouble with that train line - why not put it underground?! I know you prefer to see everything, but you can zone above it that way too.

Great video. Your goods problem comes from the fact that you a couple of episodes ago when you wanted to expand the generic industry you did it in the forestry specialised zone. So now you are producing a lot of forestry goods but no generic ones.
36:05 It's not a direct number like you'd hope for, but you can find out by opening up your milestones and counting. You start off with one square and when you complete every other for the first ten, then every milestone after that (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th) milestones you get one more area each. Except if you have 25 or 81 tiles mods, in which case the 13th (Megalopolopolopolis) unlocks all of the remainder. With a population of nearly 50k (I saw it pass over 50k at one point 35:19 ), you should be at least at colossal city (11th milestone) in most cases, which means 7 tiles available and your oil land purchase was your 5th area overall, so you should have two more available.

I think you should definitely relocate the waste processing and the recycling centers beside those and either expand the IT or the high density commercial area. It just seems out of place now but you could still keep it if you want

5.55 is what I wait for every damn time you put a video up. I love when you span out on a beautiful shot. I’m currently working on something with a little more focus in mind console so completely vanilla. I want all the goodies you’ve got including the pristine graphics. Looks so much more realistic 💜

I didn't even blink at the hospital next to the shopping center 😅 When I went to uni in Japan, the nearest train station had a hospital in the /same building/. It took me several months to notice, and even then the most shocking this was that the railway company /owned/ the hospital (and the supermarket across the street)! They'd really branched out...
Hi Biffa,
1. Behind your new area there's a little lake. Wouldn't it be nice to have a little city park build around it?
2. I think it makes more sense to put the swimming pool or gymnasium or what-have-you backed to the noisy highway, rather than having residential building there.
3. You might want to add a slip road to the highway at the end of the new area.
4. Are you sure the botanic gardens are a good fit for your leisure area? Between all the pubs and clubs and all? Personally, I;d back it against the noisy highway as well.
5. Regarding the water pipes underneath the road, I figured, if you do that, then why even bother? I just use the mod that reads roads as having pipes installed under them, since that's essentially what I do manually, and in the process I save on the node count, which is forever the bane of my games.
6. Regarding the industry, I figure there's a reason people have built a city in the ever-frozen tundra - and it has to be the resources. So it would make sense to have oversized forestry, ore and especially oil industries, also export their products rather than use them locally, because it doesn't make much sense to build industry in such a place, where the cold makes the metal in the machinery brittle. So export raw materials, import consumer goods seems to me the logical situation in a city like that.
34:10 that spur railway bridge you could convert to a highway bridge, a tramway bridge, or a metro bridge. Open up the other side of the river to development. 😉
A good place for an ore industry is north of the forestry area at the base in near the big mountain. Icy climates usually do have good mining industry near mountains, like in Norway, Sweden, Canada, etc.
@17:45 you can see clearly that Emerson Square already has the Entertainment policy, so this is not unique. You could use some industry for general goods and this location has prime access to roads and rail.
That rail bridge might be a bit better if you didn't follow the terrain down to the river as much. its going to need to go up the hill on the other side anyway, so if you can find a narrow part of the river, you could have a short but high bridge that bypasses both the river and the valley.
Also, do the trams really cause that much traffic? At worst they are just a longer bus.
Umm... you laid out a leisure district, buffered it with offices to reduce the noise to the adjacent residential, and then put the elder care centre inside it.
Now I'm imagining all the grannies raving it up through the night!
That's probably the worst elder care center you can put your parents in, right next to the party area of the town and not far from a waste transfer facility... Unless... they treated you badly when you were young.
i like the water pipes below the road. it's also more reasonable as it's easier to access and any sinkholes that do unfortunately form won't vanish a house or building.
i would really wish the pipes curve, it's annoying to approximate the curved road with a lot of nodes.
I put my water pipes under the roads and I also try to avoid dead-end mains. I worked for a city water department so its just kinda fun to me.
28.00 mins when I started the game and realised so much needed to be balanced within the game even on vanilla console I figured if you’d put the pipes under the road you lay it ends up cheaper with the system of ( expense profit )
I'm pretty sure by looking at the available tiles around your city that you have unlocked 5 tiles so far out of 9 maximum.
For your uni it needs some varsity sports to really bring up the attractiveness score! I think an aquatic centre would go well.
In vanilla if I remember right Oil and ore do run out. Unless you checked the option for infinite from the game's menu (I believe they added one with industries DLC).
Either way I hope you have infinite checked otherwise you're gonna run out of oil real soon. It can be imported to make plastics and other things tho. so you should be fine.
Run the Railway bridge across the river next to the highway bridges.
So far behind on this series so only just watched this episode. The reason the railway bridge was doing all sorts of crazy height stuff over the river is down to the unevenness of the river bed. The land needs to be levelled to make the bridges easier in vanilla
Emerson Square - by the stadium - is in fact a leisure area. I find that area seems a bit unfinished so far.
Biffa! Make "Filter waste water from industries" a city wide policy, it doesn't cost very much and it drastically reduces pollution from all buildings that pollute! It will really help reduce the pollution around the Waste Processing Facilities, and the new oil industry area. Plus, making weed legal brings in more tax revenue ; ) It does take a little while to take effect though. Also, beside the stadium you might want to make a tourism zone for Hotels so that people can stay in the middle of town.

I reckon keep the trams in, they are an iconic part of the city, and are always helpful to fill in transportation gaps that metro cannot without putting more buses on

You need way more of a buffer on leisure zone. They are louder than you think. I prefer to lump leisure near coastal areas on the other side of the loud mass transit stops

Placing the water service pipes under the streets is exactly what happens in real life, for the simple reason that the building (which need the water) are along the street anyway.

The university campus area next to the hospital reminds me of my uni which had a block at the hospital for the medical/nursing school etc.
Flabaliki always used to put water pipes under the roads. Until he couldn't be bothered anymore and just filled everything with a water pipe grid anyway 🤣

I love to see both series where you are working on your cities, modded and unmodded. I love mods, but it's good to see that you build a good looking city with creativity without mods.

The new retired citizens are very thankful. They didnt get a yoga garden or a sauna this time, but now they live in the leisure area. If they put off their hearing aids at nights then they can even sleep. 😂

When you are adding trees, you can hold down the mouse button and plant them machine gun style.
That faculty thing in the content creators section in education also helps with the students issue, plus they're considerably small.

@23:23 look at the numbers, although it sais eligable is 7958 but @23:33 you can see only 1769 students attend the uni, eventho it has the capacity of 4143... and then again, you can increase attractiveness with the varsity sports arenas
You forgot to remove the old train bridge, but maybe it's nice to just keep it there as an old artifact. Like "De Hef" in Rotterdam.
When Antarcteaca is finished buffa should release the city for the community to do a traffic fix and city review.

What happened to the plans for a farming district. It was originally going next to the timber area , but as that expanded it was decided that farming would be built elsewhere!
Evergreen Park could be renamed to "Tearangular Park" because of its shape.

Biffa, you need snow dumps. it takes the snow off the road and slightly improve the speed. (also you don't want cars/people skidding on slippery ice)
Great episode as always. Wish I had a computer that would allow me to play the game. As for your oil area, you might have thought of it I guess, build offices, that will shield the public along the main road. 🙂

If you're looking for a more realistic look with your trees, the same type of tree would not be placed down so close and in such repetition, due to plant disease spreading. Spreading them out more, or alternating the type of tree would be more realistic :)

(maybe once a month?) If biffa did a city fix using ALL the normal mods and towards the end then show how the 2 cities performed modded and unmodded. Branch the city every week and do a one day mod upgrade. Interesting to see how the two cities would compare at the end.

i am glad i learnt this trick of placing pipes underneath roads, it makes city expansion more economical in my opinion
