I've been watching your content for years. Got my Master's in Cybersecurity in 21. Worked in Cloud for a year. Just got my Security + 10 days ago. This video couldn't of been posted at a better time. Thank you for this blueprint!
Clearance and Experience are most important along Sec + next. If you dont have skills and experience and transferring from another field you gonna have to start at Entryl Level Help Desk not at starting at 6 figure Cyber Analyst
I just want to say thanks for all the hard work you do in putting out these videos and sharing how to beak into the tech world. I have learned so much from watching your social media accounts and taking notes.
Thank you so very much for your help! I was in tech as an equipment coordinator years ago before becoming as ops manager back when I worked at amazon. I'm trying to break into tech again, but this time at a higher level to take care of my family. I want a good career change, I've been waiting to work in Gov Tech since I was a kid I just didn't know all of the ropes. Thank you again!
Just finished your Webinar you are amazing, this information is so needed. Thank you for being a person instead of being super hyped up. Thank you for paying it forward.
I have my Government Clearance. Just need that Security+! Studying for it now but it's like a completely foreign language at the moment but I'm not gonna give up.
Get a job in Help Desk first. That’ll get your foot through the door. Too many people think they’ll get in Cybersecurity with no experience in IT and Security+. This is coming from someone who been in IT since 1999. Good luck!
I got into cybersecurity without going the helpdesk route. My first job offer was for a cybersecurity analyst role. Then I got my certifications and kept building my skills. It's very hard but can be done. My first offer was 105k remote. I also have a lucrative business but in this economy, I wanted to have other skills in place. I helped my brother land a cloud engineer role and he was in construction.
@@GeorgiaMade404 That's the more practical route. I understand that it works so I appreciate the advice but times have changed. More and more companies now are accepting entry level and willing to train as long as you have the certs, and know the basic fundamentals. But I'm not opposed to working Help Desk to get more experience.
Beez I was told you can get a job in software engineering without a degree. Is it possible? I don’t mind doing cyber security but I love coding. Thinking about taking a course on “course careers” to learn. Do some projects and start applying.
@@symonebeez Yeah, I see that on LinkedIn all the time. I’m wondering why they haven’t changed it? As a former Cybersecurity Information Assurance Officer, it was my job to ensure policies were updated and in compliance.
This is just what I needed, great video!! I have so many more questions. Can you shed some light on what happens if there's a shutdown? As well as benefit coverage or lack there of for Gov Contractor vs Fed Gov employee? I'm currently a Software Engineer and it my goal to switch to the Gov Tech Sector 🤟🏽🤟🏽 but need more insight before making that switch. I'm also noticing that majority of the Fed Gov positions aren't offering relocation assistance, which is unfortunate
Job hopping in govtech got me from 50k to 190k in 2 years 9 months. This is the way.
Wow, look at the person you’ve grown into 💪🏾💯✊🏿 I met you 18 yrs ago. I’m your lil cousin, Kayla’s dad.
Thanks fam I appreciate you 🤞🏽

Hello,I just got my Master’s in Cybersecurity in May 23’.How tough was the Sec + and how long did you study since you already had prior knowledge?
Clearance and Experience are most important along Sec + next. If you dont have skills and experience and transferring from another field you gonna have to start at Entryl Level Help Desk not at starting at 6 figure Cyber Analyst
That clearance is so clutch

About to transfer from massage therapist to Cybersecurity. Lets go!
Keep massage therapy as a side hustle! Once you get your CS degree, find a remote IT position and give massages while you work your actual job! 👊🏽
I have my Government Clearance. Just need that Security+! Studying for it now but it's like a completely foreign language at the moment but I'm not gonna give up.
Don’t give up!! It will be like a second language soon.

@@SimplyAdivacan I ask how you assisted your brother to make that transition?
Excellent insight thank you Symone!!
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching! Sub so you don't miss any future videos.

Yes, you can. You need to have a portfolio that shows your skills
Look up a place called "Launchcode" see if its in your area they offer free coding
Got a Secret and Comptia + and Comptia linux , for over 2 yrs still no offer . Frustrated!
DoD 8570 is now DoD 8140, it has been updated since February 2022. Read up on the latest version, knowledge is power.
Check any job application and they all still list 8570 , Sec+, IAT II / III or IAM .
@@symonebeez Yeah, I see that on LinkedIn all the time. I’m wondering why they haven’t changed it? As a former Cybersecurity Information Assurance Officer, it was my job to ensure policies were updated and in compliance.
It’s still 8570.

how do you get the clearance? hell of a time getting it
anyone watching this listen to what symoné is saying! it’s 150% true.
Can a non us citizen get the government clearance
Okay CompTIA Cert seem like the way to go but what about CISSP or CCNA would that work for GovTech
CISSP is the best paying cert in GovTech but you need 5 years of experience.
I'm confused, should someone completely new to tech go for a gov tech job or a gov contractor job after obtaining their security+ certification?
The 8570 is old news. The 8140 is the new hotness.
Job applications say otherwise.
Do you think I can get into gov tech I have 2 dui?
Can you get into gov tech with a criminal background from years ago?
Yes take a look at my latest Day in My Tech Life interview
Can I get a government contract and work in South America?
Yes if the contract is in South America
Are any of the government tech jobs remote?
Yes. Plenty are remote.
