Thank you so much for the shout out and the kind words I really appreciate it! I'm fortunate to have been able to pick up tips from you before you made them available to the masses lol!
Re: the eBay automatically adding Best Offer topic - I can confirm that this has happened to me as well over and over again when listing through the App (Android) despite verifying Best Offer is turned off - it just appears turned on several days later (no bids are being auto-accepted though, I don't know what that's about). The other thing the eBay app will do is reset free shipping, but this appears to be more of an option revert bug that occurs when moving between screens and not something that gets changed after posting like the Best Offer. My workaround is to start the listing from the app (ease of adding photos without shuffling them between devices) and then save as draft and finish on PC - if it posts from site instead of app it never changes. The eBay experience is FULL of bugs.
I can confirm this , too. I also will start on the phone and list from the computer. Ebay will also send out an e-mail telling you they did it. Hasn't happened in awhile.
This was happening to me aswell, I fixed it by going to sell in the top right corner and changing my settings to the Advanced tool and it has yet to happen since.
Yes, They used to do this to me all the time . after about a week of being listed eBay would turn on offers on all the listings and I would have to go in and turn them all back off again. they send you a message saying your listings can now accept offers and they show you which ones they changed. I never had anything sell itself though. I just got offers from people that I wasn't expecting.
Right now I just sold an item that I'm sure I've already sold, I've got them boxed up by color and the item isn't there after the 3rd search of every box, I'm SOOOOOOOO SICK & TIRED of ebay relisting items I've already sold, this is like the 4th time in 2 months. & is anybody else getting items that they've already sold by sending an offer to buyers stuck on there allow offers page? Right now I've got 4 items on 1 account & 2 items on another permanently stuck as allow offer to buyers available (but I've already sold these items & when I try to send offer it says you can't send offer.)
Every time you show us your antique booths, I always love your setup! Looks very inviting, eye catching, neat, and just full of nice quality items :) congrats on the success with it!
Hey suggestion for your booth. Since you have the Dos Equis guy which is pretty cool. Maybe come up with a # that is unique for you and put a sign up inviting people to take selfies at your booth with the cutout and post them on Instagram or Tik Tok with your hashtag. Might draw in some business and would probably be cool to see the photos of who stops by the booth.
I rented a booth and get to load inventory in this coming Sunday. Have priced a crate of lps, vintage character glasses. vacuum, luggage, standing ashtrays, framed posters and art
You bought those POGS from my yardsale! Great job!! I'm glad they sold. I also have a booth at the same place. #302 check it out! I wish there was a place in Eastgate. The mall would be a wonderful place.
@@2steppin2cali because sometimes you just have so much $hit that you get tired of looking at it. I'm going to start building a house soon and I'm not taking it all with me. I've been selling on Ebay for about 20 years and I try to sell higher priced items.
Great video John. It happened to me also about the best offer and also free shipping. I lost some money on shipping, I contacted Ebay and they said was a glitch when you list items with the phone, I don't know if they fix it or not. When I list now I triple check and then I check again on my pc. I had a booth also but here in California they charge to much for a little space, I had it for 3 month, made enough for the rent, that's it ! no profit, was like just giving the stuff away and make the owner more rich..lol
I've had a booth for 2 years now. I was VERY "is this really gonna make any money" in the beginning! Since then, I average about $750-$1,100 per month in Gross Sales. Honestly, it's the easiest money that I've ever made in my life!! Price an item, drop it off and you're done!!! Absolutely love it!!!!
I'm opening an antique "table" next month. Its only 30$ a month. Thought it would be a good starting point before I try a full on "booth" which is like like 2-300 a month. Will be documenting how it goes on my channel. Selling vintage video games
Enjoyed your videos as always and thanks for the content. Antique booths!!!! I like the ones that are packed to the brim with little or no room to navigate. They at times have been some of my best finds. I knew of a successful antique dealer in Maine that kept a close eye on the booths at antique malls in his area. He would watch them closely and could tell when items were not moving over a period of time. He would offer ten cents on the dollar and take everything. Did this work all the time, of course not. His strategy worked enough for him over the years.
Hi, ebay always changes my listings to best offer after a few days of listing it and they send me an email 'your items can now accept offers' and I have to hurry to change it because they're always really low. I got so annoyed and stressed that now I set all items to accept offers one dollar less than my ask price. I list by phone.
Great video! Thanks for discussing your antique book. We don’t have anything like that around here..we barely have thrift stores. But I love seeing your take on things Also if you can use command hooks to hang stuff that might help. They have all different kinds. Maybe even some wreath hangers to clip on the top?
Along with Records another great thing to sell is Marvel and DC Comic books they dont take up much space. Another thing about having a booth is small add on things like hot wheels. I have a loose bin of hot wheels that I sell 2 for 1 dollar and I am constantly refilling it. Also sell lots of stuffed animals. with the stuffed animals I look for pop culture like muppets, pokemon, star wars, and pound puppies. One more thing that does well is unopened packs of sports cards. you can find boxes of unopened sports cards for $10 to 20 bucks and most of them come with 36 packs. if you sell them for $1 to $2 a pack people will buy them. I found 6 boxes of unopened packs, (basketball, football, baseball) and sold out of them in 3 months. I have even had people reaching out if they could buy more because there is now where you can buy a single pack. remember, whatever you sell at your shop is going to be going to people that have impulse buys and you want to target them. I hope this helps. @cincinnatipicker we should talk sometime I could really help you out with ideas for your booth I think you could double what you are currently making easy. Look me up on Facebook - RebelToyBox
Hey John. Love your channel! I buy at yard sales and sell on ebay some but mostly sell in antique boothes. Suggestion to viewers: If possible find a weekend tourist destination town to set up in. I have 300 sq ft in our local shop in eastern WV that attracts DC metro folks. Been doing this for 20 + years. August sales topped $3,000 with rent at $465 & no commissions. Selling vintage and newer toys, comics, star wars, character glasses, lunchboxes, cookie jars, Hot Wheels, records, sports & western memorabilia, pop culture, soda, brewianna, ad signs mirrors and trays, tin cans, old bottles, mantiques, etc. Items range $3 - $100 but most hover $10-$30. My new rule is to only buy what can fit in a box, shelf or showcase and load the space up to the gills! Best to you and your family!
I sell in 2 different antique malls. I sell a variety of items. I walk around when there and see what everyone is selling, then sell other things. Currently im the #1 vendor in one location and #2 in the other.
Happy for you that the booths(Is that written correctly?) do so well! All in all Corona did not crash online selling. People wanted to treat themselves and it was door delivered. Keep on going 😊.
Tip: get a few larger pieces... table, stands, hutch, etc to get more of your items at eye level for buyers to see better. 👀 love love love....your items!!!
I've been dying to ask, have you ever broke something after selling it but before shipping it? If so, did the buyer freak out or ask want the item? I get so nervous watching you get those boxes with one hand.
Loving the videos as always man. Have you ever considered hiring an eBay lister? I've been toying with the idea recently, would love any advice you may have!
got our first booth in January. Better each month and just secured our second that will start in two weeks. Been loving it. Now to get eBay started again by summer!
I have a booth, dishes, glassware do not sell. What sells in my booth is tools, games, crafts, repainted furniture, cookie jars, signs, right now Halloween decoration and items, lamps, prints, and a few other things, My booth is full, i have a coffee table in the center with lots of items on it and you can walk around the booth around the coffee table. Lots of smalls here and there on top of bookcases, stands, and 2 windowsills. I do fairly well for a small booth. Mary
Hey John... Ebay is actually doing the changing of accepting offers.. it is soo frustrating. I don't want ebay to decide for me what I want to accept offers on. Thanks for the tip on how to bulk edit though! that will be super helpful.
so, i noticed I had a bunch that got changed to accept offers and looked to see about the bulk edit, but I don't see a way to select multiple auctions for a bulk edit. Is there a way you can show us where that option is?
Hey John...Great Sales BTW...Yeah when making a listing on Ebay...putting the price in...it automatically has the "best offer" as default until you change to make your price point or turning it to off...as to not taking offers...
No Questions at all : Quality always sells - we see it all the Time on E-Bay - Markets - Yard Sales and other Platforms !!!! Keep Safe and many Cheers from all of us here in Australia - we Love Your Channel !!!!
I don't want to drive 1,000 miles and hunt in thrift stores and 7am garage sales😣🕖🛌🏾😴😣😣. I would rather you buy it for a buck and i will buy it from you while I am sitting in my armchair.
As a collector I have to admire that. You have to have an eye for a bargain to get stuff with enough meat on the bone to resell for a decent margin. Not easy, if it was I'd be doing it too.
we do the opposite..we jam pack our booth of low end items with the same good results....There is no wrong way to make money...Thanks for the great advice and tips
I like to go to garage sales and estate sales and get china hutches and bigger furniture pieces for my antique booth. I found 3 hutches at one sale for $100 each and sold one for $400, another for $450 and a thrift for $500. We have a lot of small stuff too but that is slow moving.
Hey John local guy here, Florence Kentucky I have a booth in the Florence antique mall. We do very well they're probly profit close the 800 to $900 monthly. In one booth. We sell mostly vinyl, vintage toys, coins, and other collectibles. Love your videos watch them all the time learned a lot thanks.
Also, If you ever "edit" your listing that was originally Buy it Now with no obo, it will add obo regardless of what you might haved edited. You can go and correct a typo and next thing you know, your item is now OBO. Also agree, make sure you turn it off when listing, I've forgot several times.
Man, i just saw your brother in law and sister down at the city wide yard sale in taylor mill, KY! I couldn’t believe to see ‘em all the way out here lol. Keep up the great content! PS- we were chris n lindsay (and our daughter gwen) that visited the booth!
We have a flea market booth- the keys from what we have seen- sell stuff that is hot. Farmhouse anything- cute signs ect. The killer is like you said when people put glassware junk or stuff no one buys in them and they can’t make rent. Also you need to be in the area of at a minimum doubling your money on each item ideally tripling it
You rent a certain amount of space in the store (for example, 10 by 10 space) and you price all of your items. People can take the merchandise and being it up to the store register where they can buy. Each booth has it's own ID code. After deducting fees and other costs, the booth renter gets their check.
I live in northern michigan not too many towers here idk if your camera is the best camera ever made or if my phone is loading quicker but I see what people mean by "wow look at that clarity!"
Check out the antique mall in Jay County Indiana- it is in the town of Portland. It is a HUGE antique mall- Prices great and the employees really helpful and nice. I think it is driving distance from Cincinnati- maybe around 2 hours? I'm not really sure. I haven't been to Cinci since Jerry Springer was mayor.
I think the question about listings getting changed to best offers was talked about in a recent eBay for business podcast. eBay does it with new sellers to “help” their business.
When we had an antique mall nearby I would take anything too big or not worth selling on eBay there, anything that didn't sell after a year went into our huge annual garage sale (we would do $3k over a three day sale) and then anything left from the yard sale was donated for a tax write off.
Best offers can be added via eBay but will never accept an offer in your name. they do this when items are listed above the average comp it calculates based on items that meet the same search range. They also will add a best offer option after the first 30 days with no watchers. This by no way will ever accept a best offer but you will possibly receive some offers which you can decline and update your listing with best offer turned off. they can add it again without notice. Just something to keep an eye out for.
can confirm that they are turning on offers on you. Had it happen recently. The email said your items can now accept offers. I had 5 items that were changed. Luckily it was not set to auto accept.
As a former owner of an antique mall, I can tell you that you should have 2 or 3 times the number of items you have in each booth. You could still make it look neat and not junky. It’s just like eBay, the more you have available for sale the more you will sell. Fill those booths up and your sales will double. My two cents. I enjoyed the video!
Where is your antique mall? What is your booth number. We visit Ohio Valley Antique Mall on Rt 4 all the time. Would like to check out another one near Cincinnati.
It has changed mine to free shipping and It has also changed mine to best offer as well. It doesn't do it as much now but before it was doing it to every 5th or so listings.
Ebay app is way too buggy. The only thing that I use it for is the barcode scanner. I do all final listing on my desktop, you can do more and while a bit slower much easier.
I think antiques booths are dying in most areas, but I’m only speaking from my own local perspective. Like Lonnie said in your podcast (I think), most dealers are breaking even on rent. That’s just an awful business model. Selling smalls in a booth is just an especially terrible move, now that eBay traffic is so robust. I used to sell in a booth a few years ago, and it wasn’t worthwhile until I used all my space for vinyl. At that point, my booth was dominating the foot traffic and sales. The landlord told me I was the only one making money, and when I looked around at the booths around me, I didn’t doubt it.
You're not wrong. We do still have some months where we make a few hundred at the booth and some where we're lucky to break even. There are certain items that the condition is difficult to explain or shipping could be a nightmare, so we're keeping the booth for now. Concentrating on larger stuff.
We do good business at our booths. You have to find a niche and develop a following. Keep your prices low, we leave enough so if another vendor wants to flip it there's still meat on the bone. But above all you need to watch your ROI, we buy low enough to keep our margins high.
I went to an antique mall recently that I will avoid . It was dirty, the booths were over crowded and looked neglected. It was not a pleasant experience.
Sorry if this is an obvious question, but it’s been a really long time since I’ve sold on EBay…do you list the items as “buy it now” or auction style? Also, when you say you send offers out, how does that work?
eBay has been doing the Best Offer thing for at least a year to anyone who either uses the simple listing form on the PC or through the app. If eBay feels your price is too high, or higher than previous solds, they will add it automatically. More experienced sellers who list through the advanced tab won't have this happen.
10:41 Sorry, my Japanese ear is twitching. 👂💥 The word is pronounced “guy-den.” Popular series, so I’m sure not the last time you’ll encounter the title.
@@BruHause lmao good one. There is a booth like that near mine and it's just full to the brim. Bit I feel like they never sell anything because ppl see it and get overwhelmed and don't even bother with it. I try to keep a balance
@@absentmindedstudios Yeah, try to take as much advantage of the space as you can without it looking tacky or messy. And price it to move! You can make some money if you put enough effort into it. Keeping inventory stocked and priced well is the way to go. If the hobbyists are having fun breaking even, that's okay.
How do you ship items like stickers or patches that don't weight a lot and can be sent in an envelope with stamps? Do you still pay the $3+ for first class or put stamps on it? I just know you don't get a tracking number with stamps. Also, Buying somethings today from your store.
I have a booth at a vendors mall. It is mostly MEDIA. I used to do $60.000 gross a year now it is down to around $24.000. But still my ROI is great my rent is only $279 a month so I am still making $1200 net profit a month.
Ebay changes all of my listings to accept offers after a few weeks but they don't change the price or set an acceptable lower price. I still have the option of declining.
Watch out using the bin numbers in the title, sometimes those can mean something. Like for model trains C1-C10, R1-R5, P3-P10, and O1-O5 is all part of a grading system. I'm sure some other items do something similar.
Ebay has also been changing my items to accept offers after a few days. They just go ahead and do it and send a messages saying that it will sell faster. And if you want to change it, they tell you to revise it. Pretty annoying.
Hello and thank you for Video. Im selling in UK and have exact same problem with ebay to set "Best Offer" after a while. It does it all the time. Even if I dont put it ! Its very annoying. I found it only on my new ebay account. Dont have it on my old ebay account.
I have a booth and sell movies, video games, toys and alot of misc stuff. I do well and going on 2 years now. I did start off with a small booth and now have a big booth now.
Thank you so much for the shout out and the kind words I really appreciate it! I'm fortunate to have been able to pick up tips from you before you made them available to the masses lol!
Hahahaha, I remember hitting sales in AZ with you 8 years ago. That was you Training Day 😂

It seems like my sales have went way down since managed payments. Why?
I had to pump in New items just to maintain
I sell a crazy amount of caps in my booth. Tin signs (even the new kind) and license plates sell well.
I shared a booth at Ohio Valley, rent was high but the traffic was steady.
The secret to success in an antique booth is that you enjoy doing it!! People that are dong it for the money never stay in it for long.
I think you should do a video showing items that you've had for the longest. I've had a pair of wooden clogs for 3 years that haven't sold 🤣

Vintage glass does sell because I’ve sold a lot of it. That’s my primary category of things that I sell. It’s usually older people who buy it.
We have a flea market booth- the keys from what we have seen- sell stuff that is hot. Farmhouse anything- cute signs ect.
The killer is like you said when people put glassware junk or stuff no one buys in them and they can’t make rent. Also you need to be in the area of at a minimum doubling your money on each item ideally tripling it
How does the antique store works? So who their to sell your stuff ?
You rent a certain amount of space in the store (for example, 10 by 10 space) and you price all of your items. People can take the merchandise and being it up to the store register where they can buy. Each booth has it's own ID code. After deducting fees and other costs, the booth renter gets their check.
I live in northern michigan not too many towers here idk if your camera is the best camera ever made or if my phone is loading quicker but I see what people mean by "wow look at that clarity!"
I love having booths too! I literally just uploaded a vlog about mine! I make about $800 a month profit there for minimal effort.
How do you keep track of which item is where, how do you sort your stock? Do you record which storage box the listed item is in?
I think the question about listings getting changed to best offers was talked about in a recent eBay for business podcast. eBay does it with new sellers to “help” their business.
I'm not a new seller. These shenanigans caused me to have to buy a laptop. I wanted to do all of ebay on a phone when i started.
Pick up some shelving for that booth space. I get mine at sales and auctions for cheap and you increase your vertical space in the booth.
I have 800 items on my website. What’s the best store plan to use on eBay to save on fees? Insertion fees are the worst.
Is that tree seat for hunting??
Yes. Dangerous if you’re inexperienced. Ironically sold to a guy named “Hunter”.
Where is your antique mall? What is your booth number. We visit Ohio Valley Antique Mall on Rt 4 all the time. Would like to check out another one near Cincinnati.
Love the vids keep up the good work
Being from Nebraska. It was kind of cool to see the corn husker cap you pulled out.
It has changed mine to free shipping and It has also changed mine to best offer as well. It doesn't do it as much now but before it was doing it to every 5th or so listings.
How do you ship bobbleheads without the original boxes.......thanks!
John, how do you determine your pricing on your items in your booths?
Ebay app is way too buggy. The only thing that I use it for is the barcode scanner. I do all final listing on my desktop, you can do more and while a bit slower much easier.
John have you ever sold anything that you could not locate or lost?
What ever happened with the storage units I brought a couple of months ago?
I've too heard that. 90% of antique mall vendors are hobbyists trying to break even and the remaining 10% that consistently make money are the pros.
I have a small booth. Still doing ok, but a few months owner said only me and a few ppl made money. So far this month doing great on tons of small.
We do good business at our booths. You have to find a niche and develop a following. Keep your prices low, we leave enough so if another vendor wants to flip it there's still meat on the bone. But above all you need to watch your ROI, we buy low enough to keep our margins high.
What happens if someone breaks something?
Hey john how can I find you on eBay?
Those Looney Tunes Pogs were hot in the Netherlands in the 90's. They were called Flippo's and could be found in side bags of chips.
I went to an antique mall recently that I will avoid . It was dirty, the booths were over crowded and looked neglected. It was not a pleasant experience.
Can I do bulk edits on all my items without having a store?
No you can’t
Gee I have a booth, have had it 2 months. Made no money and art deco 10 pce Tea Set Stolen. Cannot understand how this could happen? Any ideas?
Hi John. What do you sell your records for in the booth?
Love the vids keep it up man
Thanks!
👂💥 The word is pronounced “guy-den.”
Popular series, so I’m sure not the last time you’ll encounter the title.
my booth barely breaks even.. Its rough out here I might back out of it after my 3 month lease is up.
That’s too bad :(
@@cincinnatipicker Yeah, Basically I'd be just as well off if I burned the inventory sold in there. Maybe I'm just putting the wrong things in.
Stack it deep and sell it cheap
Yes they are changing my listings to best offer as well.
Thanks for sharing and caring! Stay Safe!
what do u mean u sent out offers? do u mean to people watching your items on ebay?
Ebay has also been changing my items to accept offers after a few days. They just go ahead and do it and send a messages saying that it will sell faster. And if you want to change it, they tell you to revise it. Pretty annoying.
Dude, you freakin kill it! Would be awesome to see you around town!
Also sometimes it changes my auctions to free shipping.
Hello and thank you for Video. Im selling in UK and have exact same problem with ebay to set "Best Offer" after a while. It does it all the time. Even if I dont put it ! Its very annoying. I found it only on my new ebay account. Dont have it on my old ebay account.
Big Hello from Texas 🤠 Thanks for sharing and entertaining 😊
I have a booth and sell movies, video games, toys and alot of misc stuff. I do well and going on 2 years now. I did start off with a small booth and now have a big booth now.
