I had to comment again... I really like this one, and I thought I should tell you my 19 month old son does as well. Every night we are at home, and I do mean EVERY night, we watch this one and then a random selection of other videos, but always this one! Thanks again!
Awesome shots there Russell, love this song, my dad had it on tape & used to play it when i was a kid on school holiday riding with him, takes me back mate, thanks..
Awesome video. @ 0:51 HAGEN inc. of. Sioux City, Ia. was my second company I drove for back in 1985. Sure brought back a lot of good old memories. thank you
Absolutely live this. hese are the trucks I grew up in and around. All these new young drivers complaining about how uncormfortable theri trucks are or what junk they are, what would they have sone thirty years ago without reliable A/C and Centerpoint steering with air assist if they were lucky( or unlucky) enough to have it. I still would drive one of those old cablvers to Hell and back though.
relaxed rules regarding overall rig length and also, cabovers caused many a health issue due to harsh ride.My low cab roll-off truck put me on compensation in the 90's.
I remember back then they did fuel your truck up for you and washed the windows too, been to Steel City Truck Stop many times back then in my Diamond Reo Raider you never had a problem with a driver leaving his truck at the fuel island back then either, them fuel jockeys like you would just ease it forward if the driver wasn’t close it’s a lot different, worse, now you can’t trust nobody now, if you didn’t want him to pull it up be out there or don’t leave the keys in it was how that worked
@@dougchew5193 Yes it was fun back then. Ever once in a while I have to drive a Dump truck at work. The only drivers with a C.B. any more are Log trucks and Dump trucks
The song is called "How Fast Them Trucks'll Go" and is by Boxcar Willie, or, my preferred version, by Dave Dudley. This was the reason I got into truck driving, sadly, no such spirit remains in the industry. There is an odd few individuals who manage this kind of thing as an independent, but sadly the fleets are taking over. With ugly trucks, and an obsession with profit, drivers are now overworked underpaid and drive the most god awful messes all around north America. I mean, there's just no
Whoa, buddy! I never expected to see this, the old rigs were the best! While I don't like the song, I love the trucks of yesteryear. One thing though, the old way ain't dead yet. There's still a lot of the "last of the Cowboys" around, this one' just waitin' to get going.
First, where’s the Mack’s? Second, love to see how people respected trucks back in the good ole days!! No straight pipes or any of that off the wall crap they do to classic trucks now!!
Sorry, there was nothing sweeter with a 1968 COE Freightliner that had twin straight 6 inch pipes, an air starter on a 318 and a 13 speed and 3:73 rears with 90 marine injectors with the cam timing advanced two teeth on10.20 rubber. It would run warm even in cold weather. Had to cut every other flap on the radiator shutters out to fix the problem. The RPM was the throttle pedal. That was your conscience, cause she would turn 3000 rpm’s to set the tach on the peg. It would bury the speedometer, on flat ground toting a load of tomato’s. In the mountains you could down shift at 2650 and it would pick it up. It would run as fast as those road aspirins would let you get down the road. 😁😁 Was one of fastest rigs, I ever got to drive back in the day, yea 45 years ago. Manual steering and no a/c.
I am still waiting to see any old livestock trucks from the North West though. Companies like Figenshow, Pisorisi, Wagoners, Livestock Transport, Portland Motor Transport,etc..... Does anyone have photos of any of these?
oo i go back MONTFORT went passed i wet my pants lol Top of line I drove then ya LONG HAUL NJ 2 CAL Dam loved it But no life WIFE LEAVING WHEN I LEFT to make a life an pay ...Had to stop road an stay ......But still lost her kids home BUT LOVE LONG HUAL Want back in but to old now .............
Excuse for the Freightliner Columbia, or Cascadia; they are ugly, poor quality trash. Even KW and Peterbuilt have sold out, providing plastic fantastic to people who want the name, and no longer 'the truck'. The industry, and all who lover her, is lost.
Wow, some memories and tears over this video. great job, THANKS!
Freightliner cabovers are my favorite!
I miss those trucks a lot😔
I grew up around old rigs like that...what a walk down memory lane! 🤩 Love the cabovers. Cabovers rule!

My dad drove a 1979 Peterbilt 359. Powered by a Detroit Silver 92. Truck was a real beaut. Dig the old trucking tunes too.

I trucked from 75 to 95 still miss. Some great old pics here. Kinda forgot how many cabovers there were back when. Just about don't see em anymore.
Dig that hippie truck @ 2:49. these are the days when trucking still had a lot of mystique, a bygone era...
I think that was a paint scheme for the 100,000th Freightliner built. But it does look pretty "groovy" man!!!!!!!!!!!!
AMEN brother!!!
