Just listened to Pete's interview with Greg Koch on his podcast and then watched this. Thanks to ALL the effort that goes into making and editing these videos. And yes. Lee underestimates his playing ability. And he's always lovely to my kids in the store.
Larry Carlton played a Valley Arts Strat in the late-80s or so. If you check out his (super excellent!) first instructional DVD, it's the only guitar he plays throughout. He also had a signature Valley Arts that was a kind of Strat/Tele hybrid (for lack of a better way to describe it). I think that was released early 90s or thereabouts. Hope that's of some interest to someone.
I'm a big fan of P90s their sound is what made me decide "yes this is the thing, I'm going to get this guitar" and so my electric guitar journey started. Now that being said In February-March (2022) I ordered a Sire L7 it arrived on November 11th I immediately got an infection in my middle finger that made playing too painful so I couldn't hardly play it after all that waiting, when I did it was constantly having to remember don't use that finger. So I sit down after my finger hurt to much to do any playing, I open up RUclips and in my recommended I see a video from Sire of an L7 with P90s I was equal parts happy, sad, and "excuse me why didn't you exist back when I ordered an L7"
Why does everyone comment on his playing for the past 15 years like he was some kind of disabled child who learned to walk again?!?? He is still incredibly average, let's move on to find someone who is an actual musician.
@@soundknight Is that how you would describe yourself? Do you mean someone who is a professional musician? Does that make someone an "actual musician"? I just recently discovered Sire guitars, and with the LP style guitar with P90s as a gold top will scratch off a dream guitar that I’ve always wanted without breaking the bank. So thank you for the review as this will most likely be my next big purchase to my guitar line up. I’d go for the Gibson if it wasn’t so much.
Exactly what I'm thinking but wonder how it compares to its Epi counterpart - not having a chance to get hands on either makes it especially difficult. Looking seriously at that H7V Cherry with the same thoughts vs Epi Lennon Casino. Thoughts anyone?
Same dude, something about a gold top LP is just about one of the most beautiful things ever lol Btw, leo jaymz makes a gorgeous gold top LP as well, I remember seeing 6stringStanger reviewing one, and I was blown away by how good it looked and sounded 🤩
Just a comment of thanks. Being a lefty it's not all that common to find manufacturers who make a real effort for we wonky people. In a fit of unexpected understanding the purchasing director (my wife) has allowed me to buy not just the H7V, but once it had been delivered and astonished me for the price, but an L7V too. These are amazing quality for the price, absolutely in line with what seems to be the consistent reviews on RUclips channels. I bought both (a) because I could! (b) because they are super cool and (c) in part to support a supplier who supports us lefties. Thanks for the great kit.
If Sire wasn't already popular, this intro jam ALONE could sell millions of these guitars lol Seriously guys, I know we say it all the time, but you are KILLING it! Kudos 👏 🎸 🔥
If only they could keep up with demand. I've bought 3 guitars since the Larry Carlton line came out, and they were my first choice, but, nobody in America ever has them in stock and they can never give you a date for when you'll have it in your hands if you were to pre-order. Gibson, Chapman, and Epiphone are happy, I'm sure. Btw Captain, absolutely love my Chapman ML3 Traditional. Love! It's 5 months old and that's all I've played since I first picked it up. Was working out the Major/minor changes to Soulshine last night, and the P90 just keeps blowing my mind. Love it!
I love Lee's playing, and I would give a kidney to be able to play as well as he does! I don't care if he's a proper "musician" or not, he's a musician in my book.
Brand new beginner guitarist. Going to start taking lessons with my daughter, she wants to learn! and I have always wanted to learn blues guitar. Love your channel, keep up the great work, these Sire's sound amazing
Thank you Sire, Larry Carlton and Andertons. Been looking for a P90 loaded guitar for a while. That L7 that Pete is playing at the end of the video might just be the one.
The feel of a guitar is everything. It speaks to you or not. The improvision, in the end, tells everything, both got into the zone with these guitars. That tells more than anything else about these guitars.
Love Sire Guitars and I love your videos. You guys do such a great job of presenting various products and the way you play them does them so much justice. Especially loved your play-out on this one that I had to rewind back a few times to listen to it.
I purchased my first LP in 1972.. and even I associated the LP with Duane Allman rather than Les Paul... It changes every generation... 😁😁 I'm ready to try out the Sire 335
Beautiful tone. I am gearing towards P90s at the moment and looking at LP type with P90s or a tele with P90 neck pickup. Then I came across your jamming. Both awesome tone the LP and semi hollow. Goldtop for the win! Oh also Sire’s making a loud reputation at the moment as affordable best quality guitars.
Lee, you’ve got a lovely touch on the instrument, the kind you can’t teach. There’s a tenderness there, even when you’re using some gain. It’s a real treat to hear you evolve with each new video. BTW, I really enjoyed your interview with Tim Pierce. My bride and I will be attending a wedding in London later this year. Visiting Andertons will be among my stops. Hope to see you there.
Just got a l7v gold top. Wow. You guys are spot on with these guitars. They sell themselves. The most impressive thing to me amount many other things, is the pot tapers on the controls. Simply amazing and what every guitar should have.
Damn Pete is so excellent, and Lee has gotten good! I'm not even in the market for new gear but I always watch your videos because they are always entertaining. Great work!
My Sire H7V just arrived at my house. Perfectly setup by the vendor. It was perfectly in tune which I didn't expect with this cold weather. I couldn't find any blemishes and at this price point I was expecting some minor things but I can't find any .The neck is fat but it's not a 50's Gibson neck. It's just right. The P90's sounds on par with the handwound 4Seasons alnico 2 pickups I installed in my les Paul copy which were expensive pick-ups just like the SD ones. The They wired the H7V different then a typical 50's wiring and I think that's why it is marginally brighter. I like it a lot. Larry Carlton plays them live so I think he has a lot of confidence in this guitars. For anyone who's in the market voor a 335 style instrument but doesn't want to pay the insane prices of the Gibson brand this is a very good alternative.
Lee ya bugger!!! That was some beautiful playing as you guys played out!! I was fixed on the dark sunburst with the P90s (I have the East Coast tele with the P90 and love it), but after hearing and seeing you on the black one my head is fried again!! Your phrasing is first class man!!!
It's not that we think guitars can't/shouldn't have pedals, it's because not everyone sets them up the same way you do. Some people like a warmer guitar into bright gain pedals, others like sparkly guitars into mid-hump pedals. They sometimes end up I the same territory after pedals even if the guitars are totally different. That's why we want you to demo the guitars in the nude. 👍 For me, I loved the sounds of that gold top until it was naked. It's too bassy for me since my rig is dialed in for my Gretsch and S3.
That orange sunburnt I how I see the colors on the first Sire you had played is beautiful and sounds clear and crisp. I'm glad they make that one there for a lefty. I've been playing left handed since 64. My father bought my. Gibson left handed then and that's the only Gibson I own. Never owned a Sire but I heard you 2 play them plus the lefty from Australia play one. Thank you for showing this video

Each guitar model is prefixed with Sire Larry Charlton's name - which on my first look I read as Sir Larry Charlton - maybe Larry should be given a knighthood! I really liked the Sir Sire Larry Carlton H7V Semi Hollow: fab 🏰
Pleased to see they have increased the nut width on the H7. The 'bucker version at 40mm was far too narrow for me. I've got a couple of semi hollows but neither has P90s, so maybe....

I bought one of these Sire H7V with dogear P90s two weeks ago from Thomann, NOT Anderton's, to be clear. I was super impressed by the lovely guitar in Pete Honore's early video of the Sire h7 with Seymour Duncan Antiquity dogear P90s, some months back. When it arrived, looked even better in person. But, played it, and 'oh dear god no' it's an insta-return. The neck was badly badly misbuilt. Nasty jagged gap in the binding, in the whole first position top binding, catches on my hand, and even on cloth fibres. Really unplayable, so bad. There are similar lesser problems in the upper frets, and on the underneath binding. I'm so dissapointed in the build quality and QC here. I've been in contact with Sire, and Thomann. But, I think people should be aware, the QC here on the necks might not be what it should be (or even exist?). I remember on earlier reviews of the humbucker H7, people were pointing out some weaker aspects, being sloppy paint spatters on the fretboard near the binding. But this is a whole other level. Are the necks made / Q.C.'d in the same factory, or ...?
Love you guys! Couldn’t imagine putting up with that “Chap-“ we had to put up with before Danish Pete. He couldn’t play guitar and he was pompous, you are a MUCH better team. Thanks for doing what you do.
Some of your tastiest playing on the intro Lee... great stuff. Any chance videos or alternate audio can be released? I feel the blended sound takes away from the natural sound of the gear. Love the room sound when you flick off the close mics and its just room/lapels?...
Nice presentation as always! Can you please review the new sire s7 V2 preferably in Champagne gold metallic color. Heard that it now comes with the coil tapping function, so great if you could try and show how well it works
An interesting comment! I agree on the brightness. But just last night I lowered the low E bridge pole screw on my L7HB. Even with current production techniques, every gtr. is a bit different.
What do you think of L7V pickups' tone spectrum when you rotate within 1-10 ? I can barely hear the difference between 10 and 2; then the tone changes at 1. Doesn't feel very sensitive. Great video btw.
Finally a test of these! I've been really interested by the H7V!! Edit: compared to the antiquity pickups one, it does sound pretty different to my ear, I much prefer the antiquity one, I would say the neck pickup is kind of similar but the bridge is quite far from the full sound of the antiquity, a slight bit disappointed I must say, I saw the video Pete is talking about on his channel and was really hyped
I noticed the same! And that never happens with bridge pickups LOL! As you know, slight improvements can be made with adjustments. Still, I'm glad Sire has released these models. I own a L7HB, and it's VERY good.
Captain your playing has substantively improved over the years!! Seriously!. There's hope for the rest of us...
That beginning jam was one of the best in a while. So beautiful 🤩
100% agreed! I had to stop 10 seconds in just to make a similar comment lol

Pete is basically taking money out of my pocket with these! I want a P90 but choices felt limited to Harley Benton
Clever move on Sire's part as P90s are so back in fashion and it is a good way to differentiate themselves from the crowd.
Amazing deal for such a quality instrument
i always have a soft spot for gold top les paul style with p90
Sire pickups always seem to be brighter on all the models and not as warm on the bass E string...but still amazing guitars and value for money
Love the outro ! So fine.
@@christopherclarke5254 it might be pickup height too... But honestly these look awesome!
Twas a great loop indeed.
Twas great playing as well.
🎸🎸🎸🎸
The best jam I´ve ever hear!!!
Geez Cap Lee ur playing sounds flipping Amazing
Have Sire widened the nut on the newH7s - I didn't go for one originally because of the narrow nut width? Great video and jams - thanks!
Nice, a stripped down l7 p90 junior would be top of my list …… if they made one🤞
Great playing as ever. Are these all Mr Honore's backing tracks available from his website?
Not sure if I like the Sire P90s more than the HB models.
amazing guitars, that semi holow sounds... oh wow
Great playing!
