Thank you for the video! I'm a freshman undergrad interested in majoring in archaeology. I'm super excited to learn from your channel :)
Hi Kinkella, great vid on CRM jobs. Question though, what do archaeologists do as far as jobs go in the winter? Thanks!
It always gets slow, especially when you are starting out. As you progress, you will get closer with companies that will have winter work, such as lab work or report writing.
I'm at my first CRM job right now! Work's been cancelled two days already though :( And I'm so slow compared to everyone else- I didn't have to dig stp's at my field school because it was in Utah. I'm not too worried about it though, just trying to take everything in
Great! Your experience is very typical. We all feel slow at first - and sometimes there are people who go too fast. Try for “quick but complete.” Hang in there!
Lay offs suck. I would guess it happens alot in the archeology world. Each project has certain amount of funds and when funding is up then job is over. Excavations can be expensive and I can't imagine most projects being profitable.
The projects in CRM are funded by the land developer, so the pay is reasonable. Lay offs are part of it, but on the plus side re-hiring is pretty easy in Spring.
