Hey everyone, I am solo developing a game called "The Adventures of Nerdstan". It's Out Now on steam: store.steampowered.com/app/2439810/The_Adventures_of_Nerdstan/
You can tell right off the bat that the green one is real without turning on either one. The green one has scratches on the shell. It’s an extremely common thing that occurs to pretty much every single real SP shell. Fake ones look brand new like they’ve never been played with at all.
There is a huge difference between a FAKE Gameboy and a Re-shelled Gameboy. Scratches would NOT allow you to tell the difference between real and fake.
I don’t think y’all have OEM shell or hinges then, I’ve never come across an original SP that does not click. Only ones with replaced aftermarket hinges. I’ve got 9 devices right next to me now, they all click
@cruziero15 I believe the term to be used is "reshelled" Although, reshell would not be applicable to the Gameboy show in the video cause there are fake gba models from China that are slow and lagging in performance. even the original reshelled ones from China run perfectly smooth.
I bought 2 both real just gameboy advance I wanted to be able to trade between Metabee and Rukusho version of the rpg game. Only have 1 Pokémon cartridge sadly hope to by emerald in the future but that shits expansive
@@chanchah1 The sp-101 is the one I want, but I can't find a good enough one for the right price. It has a modern backlit screen instead of a frontlit one.
It is a real Game Boy Advanced SP. The only difference is that they took the clock out of it, so it was not making it fast enough. I've had one before where I put a new clock in and it worked perfectly fine.
From what I understand there are no fake Gameboy Advance Sp, as in bootleg. The hinge really deters that. If you find anything off with an SP its a reshell. DK Oldies had an infamous moment where they destroyed an old Gameboy bc of the reshell (or it was a rare one, I forget).
That's because their actually 2 variant of gba sp....the red 1 I think is a lcd display.....the screen light cannot be turned of only dimmed.....the green 1 screen light can be turned off....hence the dulled display even with the light on
@@jeyhussle5953 This is true, but it's still not pointless I'll say. While I personally prefer the 001 screen, (the washed-out colours are just so easy on my eyes + playing it in good ambient lighting w/ the frontlight off) and yeah the 101 screen is up to standard... I always end up admiring my wife's SP that I modded a V5 IPS screen into. The 9:1 pixel ratio compared to the original is IMPRESSIVE... trust me it's so gorgeous and crisp. But of course it drains more battery than the 101 screen so not like the OEM screens don't have advantages still :)
The gray vs black screen comparison it's not a really good comparison because the original ags-001 does not have a backlit its front lit however the authentic AGS 101 has a black screen because it has a backlit. The faking boys pee is neither one of those but the black screen is a real and legit thing
id like to state that the green one is a ags 101 model, you can tell cuz the screen is grey, however the ags 001 model has a black screen when off, red is fake tho
@@LinkinPark4Ever1996 Second this! I had to do a triple take because it's exactly the other way around. I'm sorry you got scammed bro. Yes AGS-101 models are more expensive, they are harder to find and most people dislike the front-lit AGS-001 display. Plus lots of people have AGS-001 screens to get rid of after replacing it with a screen that they prefer.
But you cant sell it as original- im currently want to buy a gba sp AGS 101 - i dont want a new shell, o want a original nintendo shell (it should be in a good condition, but doesn't has to be perfect), i also want the original 101 screen, and not a IPS mod.
Bro i have a question i also have this fake gba sp it also boot like that and its a bit delay or laggy on the intro and also i have the lcd screen display but forsome reason the gameplay is smooth like the original one you saying why is that is it my screen has the problem??
At first I thought this was going to be about the numbers on the back define what screen type it is, flashlight or backlit. But then I saw him just turn it on 😂🤢
The black screen is aldo not indicating that it is fake - bc. Tere are 2 versions of the GBA SP - AGS 001, AGS 101- the 101 was released later, and has a Black screen, bc. AGS 101 has a Backlight Screen. AGS 001 Has a Frontlight screen, and is grey.
Are you certain you don’t have version 1 and 2 of the sp because Nintendo did a revision and made it brighter then the original and yes everyone does this is a hacked version but Nintendo says otherwise.
@@YaYAbIsCiT don’t take it personally… yes it is wrong but they still bring up good points when trying to find the difference between the two different sp models.
Maybe it’s just reshelled. Or the screen is not original. Maybe one of those is a backlight one. Only real way to tell it’s fake is to disassemble it and see if the motherboard matches.
eBay and other auction sites have a litany of sellers who have been passing off unlicensed DS consoles, GBA original+sp and even PS vitas as legit and they’re almost always coming out China making it impossible to shut down . In fact, its become a joke amongst legit eBay sellers that the minute you shutdown one fraudulent seller, two more pop up to fill the void and so on.
Nintendo should take down certain video game selling sites, amazon items for fraudulent products as well Amazon needs to cut a lot of made in China things to buy from their site/app.
My GBA SP has that, because it’s an AGS-101 which were made from 2005-2007 with backlit screens. They are very sought after and expensive, but official.
“choppy fps everywhere” I honestly can’t tell the difference, the screen actually looks better on the bootleg! hats off to the bootleg factory for making such a good clone!
It has nothing to do with being real or bootleg, actually! The real console shown is likely an AGS-001 model. The AGS-101 model is also a real one but has a backlit screen. The AGS-001 has a frontlit screen which will look washed out, while the other look more like a Nintendo DS screen that you would be used to. Same with how it looks grey being turned off. Just how the AGS-001 screen is, but again the AGS-101 screen is different.
Eu sou do brasil, e tenho um fake boy advance, porem minha tela danificou, onde posso encontrar uma igual pois tenho um apego especial por ele, alguem poderia me ajudar?
Not Fake actually refurbished reshell For the reason you cannot FIND an authentic shell in pristine condition HERE but still the parts and buttons are originals the organs are still the same part but not the exo skeleton. The old shell in a crab that molted into a new shell upgrade and parts or a ags-101 donated organs to another body(husk)
The screen only looks "bad" because it"s the original AGS-001 model. The later AGS-101 model has a backlit screen that looks vibrant, more like the fake one or a Nintendo DS screen.

Exactly what I thought too
There is a huge difference between a FAKE Gameboy and a Re-shelled Gameboy. Scratches would NOT allow you to tell the difference between real and fake.
Not in all cases cuz you have more and more people doin re shells
The one my cousin gave me has so many scratch marks! Good to know it is an evidence for legit game boy. Btw, this device brings so much memory
Just so ou guys know, not all GBA SPs have clicky hinges. Some of them have no click but still lock into place fine without any wobble.
Was gonna say the same, my GBA SP does not click like that when opened.
I don’t think y’all have OEM shell or hinges then, I’ve never come across an original SP that does not click. Only ones with replaced aftermarket hinges. I’ve got 9 devices right next to me now, they all click
@@shrimp_bucket Nope.
I've had 3 legit SPs. Not one had the clicky folding screen. They all held in place like they should, but they never clicked like that.
I would have never guessed they had fake Gameboy.
Fake isn't proper terminology here. It's an original GBA SP motherboard, but the shell and screen have been replaced.
@cruziero15 I believe the term to be used is "reshelled"

@@jimhalpert0Yes these were fake motherboards
I have a GBA SP with a new cheap shell, but the PCB is original and the game doesn't lag like that
It’s all about the og hardware, so that makes sense
Same, I love mine I can play it any time day or night 😂
Yeah it’s not because of the shell the hardware inside of it is also bad
Bc plastic doesn’t affect frames

Fake shell

The fake Gameboy SP’s also might have a logo that says “Nintend” instead of “Nintendo” and they are always laggy. That’s how you can spot it.
It says Nintendo. Look closer at the beginning
