I like your show. Thanks for doing it. Regarding 22 Long Rifle, I recently read a story about an Israeli air marshal type. Several years ago, a group of terrorists with automatic and semi automatic weapons attacked the plain he was in. He held them off, till the police arrived, with a Beretta Jaguar. He even managed to kill one. Fortunately, help arrived quickly. Additionally, I learned that the Israelis used the Jaguar for several years as their primary weapon for assassins. Now I understand from you that someone killed a bear with a 22 LR. As far as calibers that I unjustly love, the 6.25x25 is high on my list. Part of it is the history of the round and part has been refining the triggers on the Tokarevs. As far as hating calibers, if they go bang, I like to shoot them.
Yeah for 32 acp. I was bitten by that bug 5 years ago and now own 7 pistols in that caliber. Light recoilng, higher on board round count, sufficient penetration (given proper ammo choice) and very accurate, whats not to like?
I happen to like the .40 S&W. And guess what, I can find Ammo for the .40S&W. I also like the 357 sig, but there are very few guns available. But my favorite round for a semiauto is the 38 super.
I hated the 40 Short and Whimpy when it first came out. Then Cor-Bon came out with their 135 grain Sierra JHP load. The first 5 shootings were one-shot-stops. It's hard to argue with 14-16 rounds of 357 Mag level loads in a "carry" gun. Not to mention the controlability advanrage over the latter.
One thing the 308 Winchester has going for it is CONSISTENCY. Check put the reloading manuals, the data looks like they just all used the same data. Compare that to other calibers and be prepared to be AMAZED.
I have an irrational hatred for the .380ACP, at least my wife says my opinion is irrational. As for hopelessly in love, that has to be the .357Mag. and that is mostly because it was the first firearm I purchased for myself.
Para-Ordnance threatened to make a small frame LDA 3" barrel 1911 in 45 GAP. Similar to the Springfield EMP but in DA/safe action, whatever you want to call the LDA trigger. Alas, it never came to pass and they are now defunct. I woulda bought one.
32 ACP. Probably even more controversial than the 25.. I have a Kel-Tec p32 gen 1 which is the smallest lightest pocket pistol I own.. even lighter than my Taurus TCP 380 that I carry daily in my right front pocket in the pocket holster... 32 ACP pocket pistol test have shown that in the short barrel 32 hollow points do not expand.. so it's a tiny 32 hardball ACP.. or don't carry it.. you also have the rim lock problem because it's so many rimmed when you load hollow points with shorter profile... My Kel-Tec has anti-rimlock kits installed.. and what I do carry in it is Underwood extreme cavitator.. no I don't carry it often but sometimes if I'm wearing really lightweight shorts and a t-shirt.. it's better than being unarmed completely... Generally the smallest caliber I carry is 380 but for those times where even the 380 too heavy for my lightweight shorts.. the 32 does have its place... Now I'm going to make a controversial statement.. any caliber that you can shoot proficiently.. 22 25 32.. 380... If you can hit proficiently with it.. it can save your life.. and yes it's better than being unarmed completely.. with that said I choose the places where I go and what I'm doing very carefully when I'm armed with a small pocket pistol
I never understood the concept of hating a cartridge. A lot of them I am indifferent to but hate makes no sense. There are some cartridges I love though including most cartridges with a rim.
300 Blackout subsonic, 500 ft. lbs. of energy at the muzzle. Not even 45 ACP +P.....IN A HANDGUN!.....WOW! For subsonic use, OK, but NOT impressive. I know a guy, and hid son, who think it's a GREAT black bear round. Have luckily NEVER actually shot at one with it. They are hung up on the 208/220 grain bullet weight.....yikes!
All this conversation and no love for .30-.30 😥

Agreed Ketch! I just picked up a Charter Arms .32 H&R Magnum, called the “Undercoverette.” Six shots. Roy

.300 black out is my MSR version of the 30-30 👍🏻

300 Blackout. Heavy and slow... what a novel idea... Imagine if Billy Dixon had access to something like that. 🥴
Another cartridge that needs more love is the 22TCM.

.40S&W exists mostly to be competitive in USPSA Limited these days
Fun topic, thanks.
I think the Cooper cartridge WAS "Thumper."

Agreed on all that! Roy

Agreed. I too usually love the rimmed ones .. Roy
Hey, I'm sophisticated!
I'm smoking a pipe right now.
.17 hmr???
What are you talking about?!
You can't kill ANYTHING with a 270 anymore, it's TOO OLD!
