$62k...Smh. The person that wants this is the type of person that has to have those badges (Mercedes, AMG) NO MATTER WHAT. To put this in perspective the Lexus IS 500 F sport is as much or less expensive than this and you get RWD and 472 horsepower NA V8.

Or same price get RS3, more power, 400 lbs lighter, better AWD drivetrain, cooler 5 cyl sounds … this “AMG” is such a flop
You could also get a CT4V blackwing for this money, a real driver's car with serious performance and a manual if you can live with a GM product
I hate the design language of just slapping a screen on the dash and not molding the dash or console around the screens.
My 2019 C43 AMG has a traditional shroud for the gauge cluster screen and it's matte finish which looks really nice, especially with the supersport design. Mercedes really dropped the ball with the gloss finish displays and no shroud for all that reflection.
Just wait for the new CLA next year 😂😂
And its not just Mercedes, a lot of manufacturers are going with it. I loved the Kia Stinger, but hate the center screen....Like an Ipad stuck in clay
The W222 S class absolutely nailed the infotainment integrated into the dash look… then they had to mess it all up with the latest generation with the stupid stuck on ipad look… 🤦

S3 you can ge $50k new, RS3 $65-70k maybe little more with ADM. This “AMG” is RS3 money, and doesn’t stack up at all even against the less expensive S3. Sad to see the AMG brand fall so far.

@@MattNukembrand new hell no, s3 payments are around 650-700 a month with top tier credit while rs3 is 1400 minimum with TOP tier credit. If you buy an old one yes it’s cheaper but good luck with maintenance.
CT4 Blackwing all day everyday for the same money.
I wonder how the CT4-V (non-Blackwing) stacks up if you want to save some cash and compare similar outputs. It makes 325 HP and 380 lb.ft torque from a turbo-4 displacing 2.7L. It runs 0-60 in the mid 4-sec range (no AWD, so traction-limited), and costs $47K.
I'd go for the 45 S

@@bvedantmaybe the FK8 for me, because I’m weird and lack taste. Between the new Type-R/S twins I’d go with the Integra for the same reason. It’s kinda obnoxious in a good way, and I think Honda intentionally made it more FK8-ish to keep the weirdos happy. Just like in the 90s I guess?

My my how times have changed. 20 years ago, $62,000 got you a nicely equipped E500 4Matic wagon. Now it gets you a Jetta GLI with a Golf R powertrain and a Mercedes badge on the grille.
I spent 5 years as a Mercedes service rep and you are correct. The majority of AMG drivers regardless of which model, didn't know squat about it other than it's the biggest, baddest, most expensive and it makes me look like a baller lol. By the end of their 39 month lease, the majority of them also had multiple curb rashed and/or bent wheels. Had at least one off-road excursion or into a curb just after switching the traction control off and saying "watch this," driven or towed in dog tracking worse than a 72 Nova 🤣
In my 5 years there, I dealt with more squeaks, creaks, and rattles complaints than I did in all my years at Volkswagen, Audi, and Land Rover combined.

Fuckin hell the bots are out in-force today. Also, for 300hp and 3700lbs you should laugh your way outta the dealership on this one-- 60k for this versus a LOT of change and an elantra N, CTR, Golf R and more if you consider used? Definitely worth skipping this car. Great video though.

Specific to this car, and in general in 2024, who decided glare hoods/shields aren't a thing anymore? Why can't designers stand on the shoulders of giants instead of kicking them in the balls?
Any excitement I have for half of these performance cars today is immediately absolved once you see what you're getting for the price.....$62k for a four-cylinder turbo. Making monthly payments almost as much as a mortgage to buzz around town with a 4-banger, that doesn't even sound all that good at that. No clue what this industry is trying to do at this point.
Take a golf r for half the price. Or a an rs3 if you want to spend some more money to get the extra power than the golf r
I feel the G70 would be another good option, if you get the 2.5t you get around same power with rwd chassis or awd or for same price you get the 3.3tt with way more power and space.
G70 is being discontinued. I boycott brands who cancel their sedans to force more fat, stupid SUVs on us.

I like how they switched from a real IWC watch (in my w222 S63) that you can buy from IWC for roughly 10k US, with a digital app on your infotainment system. Which takes one programmer one week tops and you put that on all AMG cars Mercedes produces. (Borat) NICE !!!! 👍👍👍👌

Really liked my CLA 35 - but then switched to 45 because of 4MATIC+! I really think the current 35 lacks driving performance compared to the Audi S3 since it has got the fancy differential with drift mode from RS3 and golf R

My question with the cars that you compared to this would you still pick them for the CLA45/GLA45 ?
I have one of these, lowered on a set of forged rims it looks like a different car. Nicest car I've ever owned, not the fastest though. Mine's a 2022 and it sounds much different, the popps and bangs are very loud, and in the canyons it gets angry as hell. That difference is big enough where I would not purchase this one.
So many more options on the second hand market for half the money, with more performance.
Problem with that long rectangular tach and infotainment is you have to reach to touch it. On the c63 you get the iPad style angled to you which feels perfect

I have the 35 hatch. The optional bucket seats make the car.
Compared to the US, here in Australia the price buffer to a Golf R isn’t that much. I hated the Golf interior and it wasn’t special to drive at all. Very dull.
The hatch shape is perfect for me as there’s heaps of boot space and room on the back seat for my 35kg Golden Retreiver. The low bench also makes it easy for her to jump in and out.
Cross shop this to the golf r and the golf r wins everytime

AMG used to be so cool 10 years ago and actually worth the price difference, literally wtf happened.
This was a cool video for the car, but a track test against competitor offerings is needed to truly declare this a 'Proper AMG'. Im not convinced this could even beat an Elantra N.

Probably makes sense for some people. People who live in a crowded city that want a nice car but aren't car people. People who'd buy a Hyundai or a Golf instead are probably a tiny sliver of prospective buyers.

I feel like Mercedes is messing up a good thing, they were on one heck of roll for a few years but it seems like there is a lot of cost cutting happening while at the same time the prices are going up.
I've always liked the A35/CLA35 AMG because it shares the same engine as the A250/CLA250, making it cheaper to maintain. You get enough power and grip for some track day action but don't have to pay too much for servicing. I don't doubt the A45/CLA45 AMG is a total blast to drive, but the engine can be an absolute bomb to service because of its F1 tech.

I dont think the 45s don't have the "F1 tech", that's exclusive to the C63 I'm pretty sure. They can be an absolute steal on the used market, but new they don't make much sense IMO. I got mine with 50k miles for a little under $25k USD. Servicing isn't cheap but it's not that bad either, really. About what you'd expect for an entry level german.

Someone offered me a 1:1 trade - a '24 CLA45 for my '13 CLS63. I politely declined and subsequently fell of the chair when I realized that those CLA45s cost twice as much as my 11 year old 'real' AMG. The world is flat on its face...

The M139 you get in the 45 and 45 S models is an insane little thing. Extremely potent and not to mention very durable too... i've seen people getting 550 hp from an A45S with stock bottom and top end. Pretty sick piece of kit.

Lots of hate in these comments - personally I like the new CLA and the AMG variants, the CLA45 is a genuinely cool car. I get it, I get it, FWD mercedes with very cab-forward FWD styling to boot, and the first generation really did look cheap. But actually, I find this new car's proportion to be very elegant and European - a new take on Mercedes style and it works for what it is. Expensive, yes, but it's a Mercedes. And, I've come to appreciate these latest hot FWD cars - growing up in the hot-hatch era there's a spirit here that is quickly becoming lost.
