Could you explain how the album changed your life? With exception of Seek And Destroy, The Four Horsemen, and I guess a toss up of Whiplash and Jump In The Fire……. I’m not a big fan of this album. I’m not arguing, I’m just trying to understand what I must be missing. Tons of Metallica fans view this album as one of the best, but to me it’s the absolute worst. And in all fairness it should have been their worst seeing how it was their first!!!!
@@MrSlowpoke-jn9lv that would be easy to explain. I never said it was even remotely close to their best album. I was 13 years old and didn't really know thrash music and it introduced me to a whole new genre. Hence this album literally changed my life since I started playing guitar joined metal bands and played thrash music for the last 35 years but cheers bro didn't mean to offend you have a good time listening to music.
Mine too, that is when I became a Metallica fan, Whiplash is my favorite song, and considering how much I love Sanitarium (welcome home), Damage Inc. Blackened, and pretty much every song before The Load album, that is saying something.
I'm actually amazed by the quality considering it's from 1983. This is early, young, raw Metallica. They were still wet behind the ears here. You can tell that James hadn't found his voice yet. Still a great song from an epic album though.
What you said about the work and energy, is exactly what the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra said when they did the S&M concert. (Symphony & Metallica)
My god were they young!! This seems to be when they play Lamore in Brooklyn. They just brought raw energy back then. I saw them the first time in 86 when they opened for ozzy.
I believe this was filmed on the "Kill 'em all" tour in late 1983, just as the 1st album came out on their then-manager Johnny Zazula's Megaforce Records. The band members were around 20 -21 years of age and lead guitarist Kirk Hammett had joined Metallica a few months earlier... Meanwhile, somewhere in L.A, former lead guitarist Dave Mustaine was putting Megadeth together... It was a very pivotal time for metal - bands were getting faster and more aggressive w/ UK bands like Motorhead, Venom, Raven... Canadian bands like Anvil, Exciter... Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Saxon, were breaking big commercially... Accept from W. Germany was rising fast... Then u had the American bands that took it to the next level - Anthrax and Manowar were signed to Megaforce w/ Metallica by Johnny Z, who also signed Overkill ... Brian Slagel (who had released Metallica's first demo) Metal Blade Records on the West Coast signed Slayer ... Exodus (Kirk Hammett's former band) signed to Torrid Records, but their debut album 'Bonded by blood' was delayed until 1985... Metal Church from Seattle debuted in 1984... same year as Voivod from Canada. Exciting times for metal! 🤘🤘
Straight out of the garage, when they still had hair lmao! They were in the underground circuit and blew our minds. They started the head-banging movement. I went home with serious neck pain after their concerts. ha!
I do believe this is from the L'Amour show in Brooklyn. I was at this show. Had no idea who they were. But I went out and bought Kill Em All the next day at Slipped Disc Records in Valley Stream.
Oh I wish you would have done a later video of this when they had better equipment and sound quality. This song epitomizes what a metal concert is to be like. And those words ring true still- we’ll never stop we’ll never quit cuz we’re Metallica! And they haven’t quit yet!
Long before they sold their souls to Warner Brothers and got in league with Bob Rock. Producer Bob Rock turns hard rock and metal bands into radio friendly pop bands.
Well.. been a fan since before killem all was even released.. in my teens I had a 1st edition copy of the whiplash single on vinyl, the neckbreak remix, on a green vinyl with the 1st cover they only released on the 1st 200 megaforce label.. looked it up.. worth 2 g's now. Aaaannnddd of course I lost it about 1t years ago. Whaaaaaaaa!!!
We weren’t pansies back then! If we did something stupid like banging our heads against the stage we took responsibility lol. Not like today where you blame everyone else! Great reaction.
Keep up the early shows. Obviously some issues lmao, they are kids. But the raw talent you’ll see is great. Do some in 86 before cliff died. Hard to find good quality ones but the guitar skill was unmatched. It was so good
I like their performance of Whiplash in Seattle 1989 better, even though I really love Cliff and his playing James clearly lost his voice here and I really loved when Jason sang a verse of whiplash, so Seattle wins. For whatever reason they had even more energy in Seattle than here although they were older and Whiplash at Seattle was their last song they played. This is still cool but Seattles version is better.
@@nextrackter1519 you mean the last song they played at Seattle '89 was AJFA? they ended their show with Breadfan actually. They still played 7 songs after ajfa.
5:07 Hey!, people of that time analyzed the lyrics of music better and there was no need to explain if it was spoken figuratively or not. Not like now, if someone says jump into that well and stay alive, and they don't like it, they sue you for inducing them to do something they "didn't want to". Remember it was at the beginning of the 80's
One of the best from them... But if you do the studio version the speed of the song and the impact is 10x even more in your face... Wrg versión due the sound
I love Metallica! Oh brother, i know you love some drums and you have gave Zeppelin great reactions. Check out Moby Dick live by them, if you haven’t yet.
that is a young Metallica. But honestly i cant name a bad song on their first 5 albums. after that they went downhill.now they are old rich dudes and dont have that teenage angst
I love Metallica and still one of my favourite bands live but I just don’t like watching live recordings. In my opinion it is best to check out official videos or straight album tracks/lyric videos as your intro to this stuff... then when you go to a show you can just bang your head and sing along while the energy takes over. Just can’t capture that energy on video. Anyway... no one asked... sorry. I think my neck is still messed up from the first time I saw them in 1989 when I was 16 years old!! No joke.

20 - 21 in 1983... Cliff Burton was 24 when he died in 1986 😷

While this live version is quite energetic, you should listen to the studio version too. James is much more audible and it just overall sounds better.
The beginning of this clip is the tail end of Cliff's "Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)" solo from this set
5:20 - Back in the 80's and 90's, if the show was going off right, the blood did flow.
Classic Thrash Metal: This is one of the original Mosh Pit songs. Check out Exodus- The Toxic Waltz, a song for thrashing, that’s about thrashing.
The crowd snatched kirks guitar out of his hands that concert and A roadie jumped in to get it back lmao it’s on video you should check it out!
And you can see Kirk dying inside as this happens. Iconic moment.
I'm 45 and I can still headbang & spin my hair! Dedication to metal, baby!!!🤘🤘🤣

the lyrics from the second verse is from a fan head banging so hard he busted his head on the stage
