I love the idea of a learning channel, however, in this video, the young man has skipped over some of the very important details, ie: the z trim fitting is skipped, explanation of the purpose of each step, close up shots of the individual components, removing the tape properly from the mastic, making sure your fasteners are perpendicular to the surface, etc. A seasoned installer would have a lot to say while watching this demo. There is a great shortage of good content in metal roofing vedios and I hope to follow more of your offerings. Thank you for putting this out there.

Any chance you have a video of metal to shingle roof transition? I plan on putting a covered deck roof but its going to be a 3 12 pitch so going to use metal on it. The house is shingled with a 12 12 pitch and all the videos are metal to metal transition.

Question for all the experts: I have a pitch elevation transition to install where the transition doesn't span the width of the side of the roof. To make matters worse, the upper corners of the lower transition meet a hip ridge, so the ridge cap will actually overlap those corners of the transition. The building has a 4 sided hip roof (no gables) and the transition is for the front porch, where the front porch does not extend the full length of the main roof and it attaches ~2ft up the roof. So I'm trying to figure out how to transition from porch roof to main roof (those upper corners of porch) and how to plan for the hip ridge caps to be continuous.

Is there a rule f thumb on how long the upper panel will actually need to be from the pitch break to the the ridge in order to order the correct length panels or are these just going to have to be ordered long and cut to length?

Do you have a video on how to properly nail the shingles overlapping the transition metal? Thanks

Great video! The install on that roof barrier is absolute CRAP, look at the wrinkles and folds in that. For such a high end channel showing great installation advice, I don't know why you'd have a barrier install like that in your demo mockup. Terrible.

Your Z-trim stage both looks terrible and is. It functions as a dam, and if water gets in there it will be trapped there, creating a pool. You actually want water to be able to slip out underneath the Z-trim onto the roof, not being waterproof, but being bug-proof. It's actually worse than simply guiding the water down into the house if it gets there by folding the sheet ends up to form the Z similar to what's done at the bottom of sheet, and assume that the transition trim fulfills the role of redirecting everything out and over.
