Hi, I had a car accident years ago and had surgery c5-6 and 6-7 fusion, which I consider very successful but maybe once or twice a year my levator scapula gets tight and lasts for weeks. I have been out of shape for a while, and so I was looking for ways to strengthen that muscle and tone it up and keep it toned. Anyway, I came across this video and I thought I knew all the stretches by now, but this stretch I had never done before, and immediately I felt the stretch and it's the best stretch I ever had for that, and I had a year of professional physical therapy and they never showed me this stretch. I want to thank you so much, and let you know I am feeling improvement already after only just finding this video last night. My question though, do you have a video for strengthening that muscle though? I'm 51 year old female and could really appreciate an exercise to do a little each day to strengthen that up because I have found the best way to stay pain free us to keep your muscles strong, but how can you exercise levator scapula though? If you already have a video for this, what's the title, otherwise, that would be a great video to do. Seems like such an obscure muscle to try to isolate to strengthen it. Again, thanks so much for the stretch. I really thought I knew all of them. I'm amazed at how deep the stretch was, you're fantastic, a million thank you's!!!!👍👍😊😊
Thank you dr Rowe. Levitator really hits my neck hard i can feel the difference already. Also i found out about a great exercise myself. Hello Dr Rowe, thank you for the video, I have this problem on my left side, when I where my back-pack, it always feels uncomfortable (on left side), when I look in the mirror the bottom of my shoulder sticks out, hopefully this will sort out the problem. I also have a problem involving my left bottom back to hip (my hole left side is stronger than my right side), when I do any core excises (with movement), not planks, and hollow body, my left side aches, I cannot do leg raises, because the left side will click, can you recommend any excises to fix this problem? I have been to several PTs for winging scapula over the years. Nothing helped. Not one of what you talked about were exercises they had me try. However, I do have several other problems with the same right shoulder, bursitis, osteoarthritis, calcium buildup, degenerative shoulder. The problem is that I have hEDS too. No orthopedic shoulder surgeon will do surgery. 1. They do not believe a scapular surgery will help. Mainly because of nerve and ligament damage. 2. I recently found out that surgeons do not like to do surgery on folks like me~ hEDS : hyper mobility form of EDS. It’s a connective tissue disorder. I’ve been told to strengthen the surrounding muscles. The ligaments are over stretched. Do you have any weight bearing exercises for this type of instability? Thanks. P.S. I just watched this video of yours so I’ll focus on these for now and careful not to over stretch.

Try laying against a wall standing up. Put your feet slightly out. Keeping your shoulder blades, knuckles and arms against the wall throughout, swing your arms from down by your sides to slightly above shoulder level. Do it like 10-15 times.
Must be because of shoulder imbalance

Posture causes this though guys. So don’t think I’m going to stretch it away and go back to slouching my shoulders and slumping everywhere I go… and the worst for it??? Putting your arm and hand on your head like watching tv and laying flat..
Thanks

Thank you Dr. Rowe. This video is really helpful. Do we have to consider food restrictions? If yes, what are they? Also, is there any other food which we can include in our diet to get rid of Scapular winging?
Hello Dr Rowe, thank you for the video, I have this problem on my left side, when I where my back-pack, it always feels uncomfortable (on left side), when I look in the mirror the bottom of my shoulder sticks out, hopefully this will sort out the problem.
I also have a problem involving my left bottom back to hip (my hole left side is stronger than my right side), when I do any core excises (with movement), not planks, and hollow body, my left side aches, I cannot do leg raises, because the left side will click, can you recommend any excises to fix this problem?
Thank you for your time.
I was born with round forward shoulders and blades stick out "Hunchback" I'm 38, I've learnt to deal with it, but now, I'm into fitness and working out I'm bulking up and losing my gut (Alcohol gut) skinny fat ...
I'm just wondering what do you think about hanging pull ups for helping with straightening shoulders/back?
By that I mean - you grab a pull up bar, rather then pulling yourself up you just hang there in the one spot as long as possible?
That is a great stretching/traction/strengthening exercise. I do it myself, and it definitely can help with upper back posture.
thanks for you sharing
Thanks so much for watching!

Sir My shoulders are popping and I watched your shoulder popping fix video. Now I have been doing this from 6 days. Sir after how many days it will cure completely please answer 🙏🏻
Every condition is different. Main thing is to keep at them if you're seeing improvement, even if it's slow (it will add up). Thanks for watching.
@@DrRowe ok sir
Do you have any advice if you have hypermobility in your arms/elbows/shoulders and it is difficult to know what a "normal" posture/form while doing these exercises is supposed to feel like?
Do you have to do all of those exercises to get rid of the wing or try a few and continue .? Also for how long do you recomend them?
Very helpful.thank you sir❤️❤️
Will this improve posture as well?
Thanks helped alot
Glad it helped!
Hi, how long do you think it will take for the shoulderblades to be normal again ? greetings from Sweden

strengthening serratus ant gives you even more scapular wing, you need to strengthen the rhomboid and levator scapula muscles to balance serratus ant for keeping the scapula close to the posterior chest
Thanks Dr

I have scapular winging, but it also effects my movement with other exercises. For example when i bench the movement is assymetrical which leads to the right chest muscle looking different. Any suggestions?
How many of these exercises do we need to do?
great job - thank you

Ive had my shoulder blades sticking out my entire life lol, now at 35yrs old I am going to try these out. And will be back later this week to let yall know how it goes.

How did it go
Can the last exercise be done on the floor instead of a wall? And would it be more effective?
With a lot of these exercises I feel like my serratus anterior isn't properly engaging, but I feel it in the upper part of my pecs. It looks like I have the right form, but I don't feel the muscle engagement. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you in advance. I love your videos, please keep up the great work!
Second time seeing you do Dolphin Press
Loved seeing the diagrams of the targeted muscles
Exactly for me...Thank You!
Thanks for watching!
Hey doc, my left shoulder blade cracks & grinds like nothing else. Video pls?

Just a question. Plank variations would help the serratus anterior to gain more strength?
Video is very helpful but which exercise I have to do I don't know
