  • The Pyrenean Mountain Dog.
He’s a dog of two sides. He can be loving and devoted to his family and is very gentle with children, but he can also be quite serious and aggressive. As an effective guardian and watchman, he is not to be provoked. He has impeccable manners, but does tend to be a little on the stubborn side.
A weak natured owner may see his dominating side, and will find him a tricky one to train. He loves a good bark too, so get those earplugs ready! He’s a bit of a lazy bones, but he does need his exercise. A moderate walk each day will be enough, just make sure you keep him on that lead, or you’ll be chasing after him in no time.
A lover of the colder weather, he enjoys a romp in the snow, but he’s really not a fan of the heat and will be unhappy if he gets overly hot. His luscious - most often white - coat will need a good brushing at least twice a week.
Interesting facts: Some believe this flock guarding dog dates back to 10,000 BC, arriving in Europe from Asia Minor around 3000 BC with the nomadic shepherds and their sheep!
The Pyrenean Mountain Dog. A fine guardian for the family when treated with respect.
