I am so glad you are giving your girls herbs 🪴!!!
Basil, oregano, parsley, garlic and crushed red pepper is mixed with their feed. Been giving them some extra when I give them their afternoon snack to help with these cold temps. Gonna make some warm oatmeal for them in the morning to go with their fermented feed.

Mine like grits with a splash of honey-but they are Georgia chickens which is why they would rather have grits 🤣🤣🤣
Great video guys....I loved the comment with Jen stating she's preseasoning the chickens....😮
Thanks! 😊
Good morning. This is really great.
Thanks!! We try to help them stay warm as best as we can. It’s gonna be rough these next few days!! 🥶
@ it sure will be. The temperature is dropping fast here in Bangor.
brought back memories of our barn with, 30,000 chicks, 10,000 per floor, raised em for lipman poultry., back in the 70's. the preseasoning bit was epic. balmy weather today, and never seen a january that leaves me with small puddles of thawed water pools, scathered out on my back still green yard. ???. 5 to 8 inches in the forecast for this area of vassalboro. i hope its cold and fluffy and not wet and heavy. anyway, nice care your providing for your birds.
Thanks so much for watching. Really loved hearing your story. This weather has been crazy this year. Calling for 4-7” tonight. Hope it is the light fluffy stuff. That heavy wet stuff is brutal!! Stay safe and warm!😊
we just a builds up never dd shavings from my planer every so often only shovel every other year lots of protien gets us 6 eggs a day
We clean it out in the spring and fall. We mix and add in the winter to make sure it stays thick in there. I have upped their protein and have seen an increase in eggs. Got 3 eggs in one day! We were happy!!
Got some serious "Charlotte's Web" vibes going on in your coop. I know that chickens are important on a homestead, but dang, I really having a hard time loving them. Love how Jen is pre-marinating and seasoning the chickens from the inside out.
Happy chickens = more eggs!! 🥚
The seasonings actually help the chickens. Each one has a purpose! It seems to be working. Their egg production is up!!😊
👍👍👍❤
😊
Jen, I love your boots! where did you get them?
When it gets below zero I add a little cracked corn and sunflower seed to my chicken's feed. It's their treat and helps them keep warm. I will start adding herbs to feed as well!
Hope you all keep warm this coming week! God bless you.
Hi!
I have Muck boots. We got them on a clearance sale before we moved here!! They aren’t the ones for subzero temps but they work well for being out for a bit in the winter.
I have started giving the girls some cracked corn as their afternoon treat along with some extra protein (soldier worms, dry cat food, layer pellets and sprouted lentils) to help them with the cold. I also add herbs to their treat.
I add parsley, oregano, basil, garlic and crushed red pepper year round.
As I am typing this I am making them some cooked oatmeal for breakfast to go along with their fermented feed.
The extra seems to be helping with their laying. We have seen an increase in egg production.
Winds are whipping and snow is tapering off here.
Stay warm and safe and have a great day!! 😊
@@HanbleceyaRanch Thank you, appreciate that!
Hi Jason n Jen,
For some reason I kept getting kicked off y’all’s videos.
Every time I turn around, I have to re-subscribe. Like tonight
when I seen this video, over on the home page, I was like dang,,,
That Jason has kicked me off his channel AGAIN,,,LOL
No seriously,,,this is one reason why I’m not getting to see y’all’s
videos sooner. What am I doing wrong? Also, if you see me comment
a post like this > ❤❤❤ it’s because something came up where
I couldn’t write a page or two at that time 😂
Good job on the ladies coop,,,they look mighty healthy and happy!
Stay safe, warm and God Bless ❤
Hi Pam!!
I have heard several people saying they have had issues with getting unsubscribed not just on our channel but on numerous ones. I’ve also heard it on various social media platforms. I’m not sure why or how to remedy it.
We would never kick you off the channel. We enjoy and look forward to chatting with you!!
We also enjoy your long comments but understand that life keeps us busy and sometimes just a ♥️♥️♥️ is enough. We have been doing our best staying on top of answering comments but sometimes it is overwhelming. We all do our best on our own crazy journey!
We are hoping the chickens do ok in these polar temps we are having the next few days. We are doing what we can.
You take care. Stay safe and warm. As always we appreciate your love and support. God bless!!♥️🙏♥️
Surprises me they can survive in that cold with no heat
No kidding! They do huddle up against each other at night and fluff themselves up. They’ve done a few nights in the negatives with no issues.
Going to be real cold the next few days.
It certainly is! Stay warm!
What does Jen call the Italian dish she was making for the hens, lol. Just curious, do you have problems with weasels and rats?
Chickghetti 🤣
Wow. Kudos to all you effort. Way too much for me. I'd think the cost out ways the income but guessing it is something you just want to do. I'd also wear a mask in the coup, seemed like some dust.
Thank you for the support 😊 We’ve never looked at the ROI, we just love having them around. Typically I do but I was feeling a bit lazy 🤣
