Sire, you are a freaking genius. I know boy scouts can tie this knot with one hand, with their eyes closed, behind their backs, while they sleep--but I couldn't even after watching a dozen videos. You explanation was well shot, it had great audio, and it had NO stinking background music. Best yet, you are the only video I've watched that actually explains how to achieve a loop of the size that YOU want and not the size the rope decides to make! I am so inspired, I may next attempt to learn how to read and write! Thanks, again! Carry on....
Yes!! this is the quick way that I have been looking for years A buddy of mine who I help with projects and knows nothing about knots but he could bust out a super-fast bowline and I would always say what the hell is that! That can't be a bowline. I would inspect his line and it would be the same exact knot that I tied super slow in about 10 seconds. Love this vid!!!👍👍👍
I can’t even tell you how many times I practiced the rabbit goes in the hole. Bla bla bla. This is a perfect and easy Peasy way to nail that bowline. Thank you !
Those dumb pneumonics require you to precisely remember the story line accurately....might as well just remember the knot if you need to remember all that. A pneumonic really only works if there's no incorrect way to recite it. The same problem with the red next to black, stay back, snake crap. (Or is it yellow next to black?) This is far easier.
You have a cowboy bowline. Tail needs to be inside loop for strongest form, i.e. traditional bowline. You can achieve this by putting working end through the slip knot in the opposite direction.
This is called a spilled bowline. If the working end is on the outside it’s called a cowboy knot. We don’t use the cowboy in stage rigging because of the potential for it to snag other close by objects in the air.
Looked at a bunch of bowline videos. You get two thumbs up!...actually showed how the knot works. Awesome job. Bowline, cowboy bowline, who cares, great knot.
Brilliant. I regularly will create the loop and then find out I've done the loop the wrong way and it doesn't work. This method avoids that issue. Thanks
At 1.22 it is not correct to say it doesn't matter which way the working end goes through the loop. For a proper Bowline the working end must be on the inside of the loop in the finished knot. Tied with the working end on the outside of the loop in the finished knot makes a Cowboy Bowline which is far less secure. Although superficially similar it is very different in its robustness especially over variable loading.
But what about the rabbit out of the hole and around the tree story ? LMAO This simple method and instructions is best for beginners at tying knots and I've watched and tied my share over the last half century.
...then you must be Dutch :) .. Some says tail on inside its "cowboy" or "dutch" version. I was taught that tail on the outside is "standard" version. I did both in this video! So pick one you like ;)
@@macgyver52 At 1:50 this is not a bowline, at 2:00 this is a bowline. I confirm that this video is largely inaccurate at it focuses on the Dutch bowline. Don't be afraid to learn your seamanship dude, we use this bowline knot at last 10 times a day when sailing, I know what I am talking about (check my account, I am a sailor).
@@ArthurPopeye Thank you for your honesty. There is a right way, and a wrong way to make a bowline super fast. And anyone with common sense would Thank this man for this tutorial and give credit where credit is due. Maybe point out if it makes you feel Superior to this man, that if you come from the opposite direction it is a different knot, or quibble about the strength between knot A and not B. Regardless speed is the key in this video! And as the gentleman states its up to you to decide my fellow Bender. Hopefully if someone's life were in danger and you needed to get them a rope as soon as possible. My Hope Is you would Jerk it tight and toss it true not pause to untie because at the last step you went the wrong way through. 😳
You sir, I hope are not doing ANY kind of rigging. The tail end of the bowline knot DOES NOT go on the outside, but rather on the inside of the finished loop. I do respect you for trying to teach the fast method, but for the love of GOD, please learn the difference before you kill someone!!
Of all of the videos I’ve seen this is the easiest way to tie this knot. Thank you so much!
Stormin Norman here; you showed me the best way. I watched others and your way so much better. Thank You.
Amazing, this is the simplest bowline knot , I ever seen. 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾

hahaha ;) thanks
This is awesome, been practicing the classic one for a week and this one is wayyyy easier

Simple and straightforward.

Best bowline tying video ever!! Thanks

Shut up nerd

Give me a break it’s the easiest one on the Internet

Excellent. So much easier than the Rabbit. Thanks.

By far the best explanation I've seen

In less than 5 seconds;thanks so much man.
Nice! And easy to remember.

Thanks to you I finally got it!
You welcome
Easiest way of making bowline seen so far. 👌
Best video out! Thank you
The tail should be on the inside of the eye of the knot. You have it on the outside.
...then you must be Dutch :) .. Some says tail on inside its "cowboy" or "dutch" version. I was taught that tail on the outside is "standard" version. I did both in this video! So pick one you like ;)
@@michaelcrash Tail on the outside doesn't get loosened by wear on the cleat (or so I was taught.)
simple I hope i remember it next time i want to tie a bowline knot
Nicely done... Can you do a double Bowline as well?
I made this video with sailing in mind. Double is for climbing AFAIK. Challenge accepted.
Great video
A bowline has the working end inside the loop. This is a dutch bowline, wich is less strong. ;-)
Very, very nice.
Thank you so much 😊
I'm not sure whether this is meant to be a parody or not.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
Wrong indeed, it is a cowboy bowline also called Dutch bowline, certainly not a bowline.
its called dutch, cowboy, left-handed and many more ;) but they are ALL variation of the bowline loop! No difference in strength!
@@michaelcrash same strength? That's a controversial topic. ..
If you actually look at the not it is a bowline. Don't be afraid to learn new things my friend.
Try it yourself before you send me a comment

It's not either or. The working end should come out in the middle of the loop.
