This combination of an absolutely beautiful composition by John Propitius , the magnificent perrformance by Gert van Hoef, and the organ at Grote Kerk Harderwijk is one of the highlights of my life of music appreciation. I love many symphonies, choral music, and especially pipe organ. But I have never before heard the beauty of sound, technique, and registration like this. I have followed Gert for about 10 years on his RUclips concerts. I especially appreciated his weekly concerts during the Covid pandemic. God zegene je, Gert.

Je ne sais pas combien d'heures je vous ai écouté, l'orgue est un instrument fantastique, encore faut il le savoir maîtriser c'est plus que beau, virtuose, bien dans les jeux et toujours un trzs grabd pkaisur de voys écouter, et votrz épouse qui maîtrise bien les registres

All of a sudden it dawned on me today, why Gert is such a genius. Hardly ever does an organist have such a perfectly coordinated second pair of hands, eyes and brains. That's the phenomenon: "two in one" under just one name :) Actually, some historians argue that William Shakespeare was just a single name for more than one poet. That explains the genius. Best wishes.

Love music of Propitius. It's also nice to see that Gert uses real sheet music, not an apple gadget. Hey, it's old-school, but so are these organs with no swell pedal.

Helemaal eens, niemand kan dit stuk spelen zoals het hoort, alleen John kon dat. Goede poging, klonk goed, maar bij vlagen wel heel langzaam. Maar ik heb voor de rest best genoten, blijft een prachtig instrument daar in Harderwijk

What an amazing performance! Starts out very calm and delicate, and finishes with a powerful finale. Almost rivals Feike Asma's version of Psalm 42. 13.51 minutes of pure bliss.
It strikes me that Gert's interpretation is very like that of the composer, John Propitius, himself. A wonderful way of thanking Propitius!

Wann werde ich da hinkommen, dass ich Gottes Angesicht schaue?
Meine Tränen sind meine Speise Tag und Nacht, weil man täglich zu mir sagt:
Wo ist nun dein Gott?
Wenn ich denn das innewerde, so schütte ich mein Herze aus,
denn ich wollte gerne hingehen mit dem Haufen und mit ihnen wallen zum Hause Gottes.
Chorale Musik berührt das Bewusstsein und die innere Harmonie, aber dieser beschissene Götterglaube ist evolutionär so überflüssig wie Fußpilz.

I'm absolutely certain that Gert eats sheet music for breakfast! If I were ever to make a bucket list hearing him play in one of those grand churches in The Netherlands would be near the top.
I would LOVE to hear him play on one of those grand organs too!!!!
I would love to hear him play on the famous Muller organ at St. Bavokerk in Haarlem. I've heard that organ in person as well as on recordings and it is a historical icon and one of the best sounding organs in the world! It is said that Handel and Mozart both played it.
