    very informative video. with regard to unmatched case control study, sample calculation, if we take power 80%, alpha 5% and 1:1 ratio how to calculate sample size

    Thanks for your video. If I want to do stratified random sampling, how do I proceed on through openepi?? Let say my sample size is 268 by using odds ratio and I have 5 strata (every stratum has more or less similar number people).So how do I determine how many should I take from each stratum?

    Thank you very much for the video, my study describes factors influencing street vendors not to adopt safe hygiene practices,

    It is a good presentation. I have a question. How can I calculate a sample size for a cross-sectional study for specific objectives? My study is on the prevalence of undernutrition and associated factors among TB patients. Using simple population proportion I have got a sample size of 421. However, I am expected to calculate sample size for factors associated with undernutrition of TB patients.

      Tena Admassu
      Hello Tena
      Well ... you can calculate the required ss if you have the Odds ratio or Relative risk of that specific factor
      Click on Statcalc on EpiInfo, choose Cohort or cross-sectional, then enter your inputs

      Tena Admassu you can use this formula manually
      (Zsquare)(p)(q)/(d)square

    If we have a sample size 10 in group 'A' and 10 in group 'B'. Then which test is useful? Please.

      It depends on your research outcome (i.e: endpoints or variables)
      whether your dependent and independent variables are categorical or numerical

    what about Randomized control Trials??

    • @nouranhamza4555
      @nouranhamza4555  5 лет назад

      Epi Info was released for epidemiological studies only
      But in RCTs you will need to specify the design and also the desired outcome measures
      For each there are sets of equations
      Usually researchers and companies hire statisticians for similar tasks

    what is that sample population, you wrote 7000?

    • @nouranhamza4555
      @nouranhamza4555  6 лет назад

      jaybeedesigner the study setting here was ( number of pharmacists, Alexandria governorate, egypt)
      And the estimated population from the official records was 7000 subject

    • @jaybeedesigner
      @jaybeedesigner 6 лет назад

      what you just wrote is 7,000,000. in the video its 7000? any difference.
      can this epi-info be used to calculate sample size for a randomised control study made of 2 group in the study? for example comparing effectiveness of NSAID vs PARACETAMOL in immediate post pain of thyroidectomy patient? the population of the city i am working on is 3,000,000.

      jaybeedesigner typo error
      I had edited it
      Unfortunately RCTs have different calculation methods depending on the trial design ( non- inferiority, equivalent, or superiority trial) and also the primary clinical endpoints and their calculation methods.
