Nice video as always! You should consider reacting to S&M before St. Anger. There are only two new songs on it but most people agree that it's a great album.
I did like Load when it came out but now 25 years later this is close to my favorite era of Metallica. On surface it's just a more mellow version of the biggest heavy metal band but the mix of the grungy, bluesy, hard rock sound combined with the aggression of Metallica makes it so unique. When you try to search for a band that sounds like Load and Reload you won't find much at all. I love the way they approached songwriting and recording on this album. Unlike other their records, you can hear Kirk playing rhythm parts on his channel with different tone and not following everything James does. Load for me is the better of the two.
Bought Load and Reload on their release dates. Hated Load and didn't believe that was Metallica. Forced my self to be open to it and so Forced myself to listen to it atleast 3 times a day without skipping any song. Within a few days I started jaming along with the songs and caught the album vibe. When I heard Reload I was a little excited as that album was faster and had more of a headbanging vibe songs. I did notice James sang in a higher key throughout the album wish I was not a fan of but I still enjoyed the album. I always did believe they could've released one album with the best songs only making the cut but still 2 decent albums one year apart was good. I finally realized that the songs lyrics are what carries the vibe. Whatever emotion you have at anytime Metallica has a song specifically for that emotion. That's how theyve lasted 40 yrs because they dare themselves to change and fail and be called sellouts, has been, soft, and they just do NOT give a fuck and keep writing what they want and release it...
The secret sound on Low Man's?..This features David Miles on hurdy-gurdy. The hurdy-gurdy is a stringed musical instrument that produces sound by a crank-turned rosined wheel rubbing against the strings. The wheel functions much like a violin bow, and single notes played on the instrument sound similar to a violin. Melodies are played on a keyboard that presses tangents (small wedges, typically made of wood) against one or more of the strings to change their pitch. Like most other acoustic stringed instruments, it has a sound board to make the vibration of the strings audible. Ohhh Yurrrr!!! OUTSTANDING Review!
Nice analysis. I like how even though certain songs didn't quite appeal to you, they still kept you moving. Nice to see a younger generation explore what my generation had at the time for our listening pleasure. 😁🤘
Fan's fact: James Hetfield wrote some of the bass lines for both Load and Reload (example, "Devil's Dance"). Oh, and he's doing guitar solos on few tracks ("Thorn Within", "The Outlaw Torn", "Carpe Diem Baby")
These two albums were not their thrash era. It helps to know that before going and open your mind about it. And luckily the greatest thrash metal band in history managed to make two other phenomenal albums that are almost genres unto themselves. Love these two CDs.
Nice reaction, this album has really good tracks. I definitely agree that Reload is better than Load. Unfortunately, a lot of the songs in this album have never been played live. So yesterday I went to see Metallica live, and it was really awesome. They started almost an hour late, but it paid off because they began the concert with Whiplash, one of my favorites songs from Kill em all. They also played The Memory Remains like I wanted, and this song sounds awesome live, the section that is sung by Mariane Faithful is instead played on guitar by Kirk and they show on the screens the section of the music video where she sings. The biggest surprise was that they played No Leaf Clover, a song from the S&M album that I really like, and it was really good. I would really like to see your reaction to that song.
If you consider reacting to the St Anger album, you should do the live in the studio version which was filmed. It's much better. It captures better the energy of that album.
Do Load and Reload have a few duds on them? Sure. They have aged extremely well and are very underrated. I'll admit as a fan since 1988 I didn't like them much nor did I like St. Anger. I love all 3 albums now
They suck so bad just like the day they were released! C'mon. Do I still respect them, of course. They're the best band to walk this planet so yeah. But they do suck.
I only love Load and Reload, cant grow to like St. Anger. I actually like it when it came out. St. Anger is what introduced me to Metallica. Going back and listening to it now at 35 I really dont like it at all. Some songs are still good though like the title track.
Originally Load was to be a double album. Eventually they reached a point where they took the songs that were closest to completion and released Load. They toured for about a year then finished up the rest of the tracks and that was ReLoad. The first songs played live off these albums was Devils Dance and 2x4 back in 95. Load came out in 96 followed by ReLoad in 97. You should react to their latest album, Hardwired to Self Destruct.
I was just a pure innocent 14 year old when I heard Where the wild things are for the first time and I was totally blown away haha, also Low man's lyric left a great impression on me and I still love it to this day.
Great reaction bro. I hope you also listen to St. Anger album. Most fans don't like it and skip it. Metallica is also experimenting on this record. You probably won't appreciate it, but why not try it?
I said it in the last album reaction and I’ll say it again, if they would’ve taken the best songs off of both load and reload and combined them together into one album it would’ve been fucking epic and with load I understand how you feel I really love that album but if they would’ve taken the cure poor twisted me Ronnie and just threw them in the trash I would’ve loved that album even more and I also get why you hate king nothing but if that song had not been ruined for you by overplaying it it’s actually a solid song especially for that album I mean it’s just like enter Sandman or nothing else matters or the unforgiven some of the songs have just been so overplayed that it can really ruin someone’s perception of the songs but if you listen to them with Breshears they actually kick ass so you gotta give them credit for that. But like I said before if you wanna combine the two albums together it’ll been insane and now you see why people struggle to love these albums and it’s mostly just because A: they are not thrash and B: the bad songs ruin the atmosphere of the album for some folks. I say just make a playlist with the best songs and go from there. Finally Unforgiven 3 is gonna blow your mind. I can’t wait for the next album reaction. Keep this shit going 🤘 fuck yeah
Metallica man, imagine being the best thrashing band out there, for over 20 years. Then you do the black album and the sales are astronomical. I understand that people have preferences in their music, but i reaaally rreally respect this band as musicians. Not afraid to try new things. Not afraid to evolve their sound. If not for things like this we would still be stuck with music from the 10th century or i dont know fuck. This shit also grows on you. You know you too as a fellow musician. U get tired of playing the same shit all the time and u go exploring exotic stuff to try. some of it hits and some misses. But man it's an experience
I was 16 when this came out and with my first GF and so I didn’t pay attention to closely to this one …. Fixxxer hit some feeling stuff with my dad ….. just kid shit …. Nice to see some appreciation for the songs …. Was never a fan of the art but the songs ruled \m/(-.-)
Ya asked when we first heard the lp I was very pleased because I guess I grew with them with age if I was 16 and it came out I probably wouldn't dig it but with age you appreciate more and different styles
Oh boy . No no no. Dude you need to just go back and start from the beginning and turn this shit off. This is nothing more than their mid life crisis! It's a blatant shame you are calling this good Metallica. Dude, c'mon. Then you can stop and put AJFA on loop. This is awful. And yes I bought it the day it came out and never listened to it for this pathetic reason. I respect this but I have been going to the shows since the Master tour and these years Thier shows sucked as bad as the music. They were miserable, Hayes playing hated making music and there's movies about it. Then to say this is good is like saying you like thier music when they're angry and don't give a shit. My opinion anyway
You under stand that people have different tastes in music right? Metallica have a song or several for every mood. These albums are way more emotional if you get into the lyrics.
I have so much respect for James Hetfield - I think he's one of the most prolific singer-songwriter-guitarists ever.
-Slash
Abraham Lincoln said that and you know it!

Lars drumming is damn underrated in that era.
He still had the fire and was still creative.

I did NOT know that was James on Carpe Diem! The rest I knew though (he also does the 2 interludes in Fixer)!
I didn't liked the load a re load albums back in the day. But now in the last 10 years I like them a lot.
Prince Charming is the biggest hidden gem in the entire Metallica catalog
So glad to hear someone else say this. One of my all time favorite songs and I haven been listening to Metallica since the 80's.
That and The Judas Kiss
Absolutely true!

Yes do Death Magnetic way better than Hard Wired
Death magnetic >hardwired

I liked this record a lot
Better Than You actually won grammy for "best metal performance" in 1999.
If you could react to Garage inc. and S&M aswell, then i would be a very happy trooper!
there is no Enter sandman in Slither its just the open E at the start of the riff none of the other notes are the same
Check metallica-garage inc. (Cover Album 2 Disks). You will love most of them I bet
Memory Remains is one of their easiest songs on guitar, the opposite of what you've been told 😆
🤘👍
Thee reason these tracks are crazy and out of pocket foe them is rhey changed their producer and wanted to expand their music style...
LMAO I bet his reaction is "Man this shit sucks!"
Gave the album a 9 out of 10 actually some fun tracks on it
No way is Reload better than Load. No chance in hell
Oh...💚🤣😅🙏
I love my initial reaction, then the click reaction 🤣😅🙏
This record is from zztallica bro, defintely weird, I prefer load, but I like both, at least most of the songs.
Strange aversion to slow tempos, but your do you
Kidding.
Load and Reload are alternative metal albums not thrash albums thats a documented fact why are you thinking your gonna get thrash lol
Reload = great riffs and terrible vocal melodies for half the album.
Great solos too.
