The projection doesn't look right on the static model. When she turns her head and the dress form doesn't, it distorts her face and it looks really off. She needs some dynamic components.
Agreed, there's tons of potential with this new design. I have a sneaking suspicion only some updates were made cautiously to test for audience reaction, with a list of other changes reserved for budgetary reasons. Depending on how guests continue to react to Constance, she may very well get more upgrades the next time they refresh this ride.
To be honest, I do like Constance’s character. The story line is dark and spooky. There is just so much potential with this “animatronic”. I would actually love to see a physical animatronic figure like the Hatbox Ghost. (which btw still has a projection element because of the head) As you can probably tell, I’m not a fan of the projection on a sheet covering a mannequin that we have now in the attic...
I'd like to respond to @ Sally Mei's question as to 'why' the bride is constantly lifting her ax. A lot of people answered but I'm not sure that the question meant 'what's going on' as far as the story: but what's going on 'technically'. See, the ride is a 'ride'. That means that many people will be seeing the ghost's 'act'. Not just the guy in front, but every body in every car behind that first person. So the ax is the 'punchline' of the ghost's joke. Her 'act' is timed so that every time a car passes in front of her, she tells a new 'joke' with the ax as the punchline. Everyone will get to hear at least 'one' of her jokes, but the cars won't stop or slow down, so each joke has to be told per car. When your car gets stuck you get to hear and see all the jokes with the same punchline. Joke, ax, punchline. Hands drop. Joke, ax, punchline, hands drop.
The Beating Heart sound is still heard in Disneyland's Haunted Mansion despite the original bride long gone. Why not make Constance like this. At first, she is holding a bouquet and candle like the original bride. Then as she raises her arms, the bouquet magically vanishes and candle becomes a hatchet while Constance morphs to the Beating Heart Bride (in the 1990's incarnation). Then she returns to her original form. It should be like this. "Till death... (bouquet to candle merging to hatchet and morphing to Beating Heart bride) do us part" (back to bouquet and candle and normal Constance appearance) "Here comes the (bouquet to candle merging to hatchet and morphing to Beating Heart bride) bride" (back to bouquet and candle) "As long as we both (candle to hatchet) shall live" (back to bouquet and candle) "For better or for... (candle to hatchet) worse" (back to bouquet and candle) "I do. I (candle to hatchet) did" (hatchet back to candle and bouquet) "In sickness and in... I sort of like Constance, but I wish they had the old bride there. Emily the Beating Heart Bride. I like the heart-ached bride stories more than this murderous bride story. Maybe that's why Phantom Manor is on the top of my favorite HM attractions in the world, cause the stories revolves around Melanie, who also was a heartbroken bride.

I love her dialouge. As a kid, seeing her devious smirk and the shine of her hatchet made me forget for a second that she wasn't real, and felt genuinely concerned for my safety. I was terrified to go back on the ride because of her, although it was one of my favorites. Even though I haven't been on the ride in years, I feel like I can safely say I have an unhealthy obsession with Constance Hatchaway. Although her figure anamatronic and projection could use just a bit of tweaking, Disney did a phenomenal job on Constance.

I never really liked how Constance's projection was positioned. It never looked quite right, the face and such always looked a bit out of center and uneven. Also, how it's projected on an armless dress stand/mannequin thing always looked so cheesy, although I assume the idea is that she had possessed the mannequin and is now haunting and showing herself through the dress dummy? Idk. Maybe in time they'll change the bride again, with them changing everything else in the park so drastically.
I would hate the ride stopping in front of that bride... I got stuck five cars away from her in the haunted mansion in Disney World two years ago in was scary. ( By the way I was stuck in the attic part of the ride right by the scary changing pictures )
Hahahahahaha. Last time I went to Disney my twin got stuck in front of the bride. It wasn't that scared but just being stuck for 10 minutes kinda was. All you could hear was the thunder sounds and the bride's voices and the pictures

They really need to upgrade the bride. How about make her an animatronic but make her face projected (like the hatbox ghost animatronic) with her face turning from human to skeleton face for a couple seconds before switching. Example: Switches face to skull: “And we’ll live happily ever after”

Nothing's been officially announced, and since Pirates Of the Caribbean just reopened less than s week ago, I doubt it'll be anytime soon. At the very least, they'll wait until the Halloween parties are over this year and the park goes into it's off-season.
+CoasterGuy When I say "off season", I'm using that term very loosely. So like early September, January, mid May, those are all off seasons. For example, Splash Mountain goes down for its annual refurb at the beginning of January.
Motions are very detailed and impressive. I feel like the face and the voice should be more young or cold.. she seems a bit too friendly and warm to me, doesn't scare me like her in the portraits

i like to think that Constance, rather than being a full apparition, is possessing her dress and its form. it would kinda explain away why the mannequin head behind her projection doesn't move, and why it looks a little off. she isn't physically standing there, the only parts of her she is allowing us to see is her face and arms, and her dress is a physical dress on a form.

Part of her chin and jawline projection overhangs on the “You may now kiss the bride” line.
They should've just had the actress keep her head still i don't get how this still isn't fixed after all these years. It looks "cheap"
