Came here because this song stuck in my head out of nowhere this morning (happens to me from time to time). Stayed for - OH MY GOD - I totally forgot how hot Stacie Orrico is.
Being an adult & on my 30s now makes me appreciate this song so much.... Living in a world where you constantly need to work hard, keep up with life, always be productive, and earn more money to be considered successful.... It's exhausting..it also makes you wonder if life really has to be this way... you go to school, graduate, get a job..then when you finally found that job .. you're always hustling just to meet ends... and to top it off, you're not even sure if what you're doing with your life is right.. There's gotta be more to life than this...😭😭
This comment is so relatable. I'm in my early 30's with a degree and a career but still I think to myself that there's gotta be more to life, more than this. That's why I searched for this song in the middle of the night.
Well said. Also in my 30s and can completely relate. The meaning of this now is completely different to what it was over half a lifetime ago. You’re not alone on this I assure you.
@The Dark Forest what you mean is one day you woke up and lost the passion in your life to become more then just a corporate slave who works endless 9 to 5 for trivial gratification
@The Dark Forest it would be very interesting to find out what you finally decided what was important to you in life if you have the secret then by all means feel free to share.

No one is ever unjustifably depressed. I know how depression works better then any doctor but spreading my beliefs is near impossible on this planet so hopefully i can help some people here. Depression comes from a lack of needs. When an individual lacks a basic necessity need such as money, a home or food, a dependent need such as friends, family or loved ones, or an independent need such as self acompolishments, completed goals or self worth they will feel depressed everytime they realize they are lacking the need. Depression is curable and it is cured by finding all of the depressive factors an individual has and attempting to solve them. People with severe depression could have 4 or more depressive factors but they can all be solved if doctors knew anything about depression and how it worked. Medication only makes the individual forget about their depressive factors it does not solve them so depression will remain until all depressive factors are solved. Anyways my point is nobody is unjustifiably depressed. Most people will get depressed if they lack any human need throughout their life. More awareness of how depression works and how to solve it would help millions but doctors are to busy selling drugs so drug companys can make money to find the truths i know. Hopefully this helps someone out there

@@ThisIsNotAhnJieRen Behind their "cool sounding music" lies list of sick and evil rituals, the all must do in order to have their time in the spotlight. For there is A PRICE to everything, including the rich and famous lives on this earth. Mark 1:13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him. Hebrews 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted. Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Luke 4:2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 1 Thessalonians 3:5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. The same way Christ was tempted, so are all humans also tempted: “Bow down to lucifer and all the earthly riches he will give to you” - and that's how we got our human entertainers (singers, actors, influencers), they were tempted with the “cool lives to live on earth” and they fell for it. The Blood Contract - as they all call it, and at the end of it, the biggest price to pay. Why did they fell? - because mankind is no longer raised up with the truth and in the truth. Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Sadly we do the opposite with the younger generations and train them up all the ways they should not go. Leaving them in danger of getting tempted by satan and without the Armour of GOD. Ephesians 6:11 - Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Great song. This is what people are forgetting. You think this life is all about getting millions, having the most expensive cars, biggest mansions, hottest partners, trendiest clothes, and unquenchable fame? A lot of people got those, but guess what? They still kill themselves (abruptly and gradually). Because, indeed, there's gonna be more in this life than chasing down every TEMPORARY highs. :-)
This was a wonderful song it show cases just why the industry's in such a mess nowadays cause they only care about money or top houses, cars, women or top brand name clothes or sex in videos

When I was in my teenage years I sang along to this while watching on MTv not knowing how deep this song was but now I can relate so much to this as an adult.
Same! I bought this on CD, and used to blast it out in my bedroom, knowing the lyrics, but never understanding them on a relatable level. Now as an adult, this song is actually really sad to listen to, because I feel every lyric. Life sucks most of the time as an adult, apart from the occasional temporary high.
This song is so deep. For me it speaks of how we are wrapped up in samsara, living through the highs and the lows, another birth, another death and in this all we are wondering: There's gotta be more to life... and we ask how we can transcend it all...
Awww! Haven't heard this song in a whiiiile lol. Glad YT recommended it today. I remember my teenage self singing along to this song while it's playing on MTV. Great times. Now I'm 34 and this song hits on a different level. Like frfr!!! But hey, life keeps going and we should too. Thanks for the quick time travel. ❤ Missing the good old days!
Rushed out to buy this single with my pocket money in my early teens. Back then in Australia we could buy the single for around $5.00. I still have the CD today.
😢 this song means more today than it has ever meant before. I have been listening to it since I was a kid, I'm in my 30s working in the corporate world and now it hits "there's gotta be more to life"
For most, life is a constant scramble to satisfy desires and avoid the undesirable. Craving for the new and attachment to the old is the root of suffering. This is a core principle of Buddhism.
I was a teenager back then when this song came out. Somehow made me feel nostalgic for something i hadn't lived yet. Now I'm grown up and it all makes sense.
Wow, it’s 2023 and this song still rings true and sounds so amazing. Life is really putting me through the ringer but there’s got to be more to life. 🙏🏾💗
Hope things start looking up for you bro Hold you head up King. Don’t fall into the rat race… the same generic stuff people are brainwashed to commit their lives to. Look deeper and think about what “You” want. Often makes life a lot simpler and less pressured. Don’t live your life to impress anyone.
As I grow older, this song wraps around my heart like a warm embrace, stirring memories and emotions that make me reflect on the paths I've chosen. At 33, I often find myself wandering, questioning if I'm truly where I’m meant to be. Each note resonates deeply, reminding me that life’s journey is filled with both uncertainties and beauty. It’s a bittersweet reminder that every decision, every moment, has led me here, even when I feel lost.
I started singing this song this morning, even though I haven't heard it in years and listening to right now.... I couldn't think of a more perfect song to outline my life right now... 29yrs old and thinking there's gotta be more to life....
Jessica Delisha love ur comment, its relevant to the song message and context rather than loving the song and about her the artist. I also love it, really connecting with it as of late.
When the song came out, it was the most played song for its tune and of course its Stacie singing it. Now that I've hit my 30s, this song speaks my heart out in wanting to do something more than just the regular 9-5 daily job.
Wtf. I have described the Diner scene to a million people, websites and chatgpt so far because it's the only thing i could remember. Today i see an Instagram reel using the song and I'm like: omg this is it. I've been looking for this song for at least 15 years by now.
This song always hits me especially the lyrics "There's gonna be more to life than chasing on every temporary high" Always listened to this than watch the video but now I've notice something else... The marathon hit me hard.. Showing the people around passing her by just like me. Being stuck in my situation. Then I remembered her other song, Stuck" that I also love so much. Being stuck on someone else.
Triggers me when people say they miss the old days with all the good music that it had, not like todays music. It's not gone people!!! You can still listen to the old music!
February 13th, 2023… at exactly 8:27 a.m., local time here in Stockholm, Sweden. And I’m still jamming to this gem of a song, which has been a soundtrack to my life since it was first released in the early oughts. Its lyrics have always resonated with me, but now that I’m 33 years old and not just a 7th grader going to Math class back in the U.S., they hit different. Man… I don’t know what it’s gonna take for me to finally find that “something that’s missing.” I keep chasing every temporary high to satisfy me, but it’s still not enough. There’s gotta be more. But where is it? How do I find it?
Jesus is that “more to life”. Stacie also sings about that. Just ask him, read the Bible (get to know him). As you know him more you can ask him to be your Lord and Saviour and he will answer with a big fat YES! From then on you will be refined by him (which is hard on believers), but your heart will always be at peace and joy filled through it all and for the rest of your life with him. It is a huge win for you, forever. He is where the joy is. You are already so loved by him. 😊
The real message is clear ...That "thing"she and Human feel MISSING unside in our soul is THE LIGHT OF THE LOVE(God)!!! Thank you Stacie for the good message.😇
This is such a good song. I think pop used to be so much deeper back then. I mean this was trendy and all, but it has power and heart. Most pop today lacks this and it’s about generic lyrics to sell 🤷🏻♂️
9razzler9 I heard it once in the animated movie 'Robots' and just had to find out the name of it afterwards. The scene in which I heard it was very short, however, so I just gave up looking. A few months ago I got the bright idea to check the Wikipedia page of the movie, and I found it! (Why didn't I think of it earlier? No idea)
I was srsly obsessed with this song tho. I would literally wait until like 2 to 3 am for the song to come on cuz the radio station back then would recycle 40 songs for 24 hrs. So when I hear this song play during the day, I'll wait for it to be replayed again some time later.

Hopefully this helps someone out there
@@godschosenone-rw4so yes. But also as a teenager things can seem way worse than they really are. And teenagers get "depressed" without anything being really wrong. Just teenage hormones. ❤️

26 years-old and now I definitely understand the meaning of this song.

Cannot believe it has been two decades since this chartbreaker was released! Stacie Orrico truly was a pioneer!
Song telling people to find a purpose in life. That's hella rare nowadays.
this is possibly my all-time favorite pop song. it's just perfect.
I was 11 when this song came out, now I'm 22 and I still know every word of this song. I love it, it really appeals to me and my life. Really hoping she comes out with more music soon!
I agree and I'm a male aswell I was 8 when this came out and now I'm 19

heard this song literally ONCE on the radio when I was like 10. coincidentally saw a facebook video yesterday about "one hit wonders". Thank god I actually watched most of the video or I would missed the part with this song
In your 30s, this song hits harder and harder each year that passes

I remember this song with nostalgia when I was 17 and now I'm 38, I'm still here listening to it again 😊
Such an underrated tune. Should be in the hall of fame.
Never related to a song more. I feel i lived like all these scenes. Domestic violent relationship, lost my son, working pay check to pay check to pay for my shitty one bedroom falling appart appartment. Now hes out of my life im working to get into police as a domestic violence officer and working to get my son back. You cant change the past, but if you're just living your wont ever be happy.
Cassandra Fowler prayers to you 🙏🏽
I can relate also! I was a violent relationship for six years, I've been evicted, I've lived pay check to pay check, heck I've even danced when I was really struggling! I also kinda lost my two sons, I had them taken away but by the grace of God my mom was able to have them. I hope ur doing ok hun, and I hope u get ur little boy back! Never give up!

Holy shit! That sounds extremely tough! Good luck to you!
I wish you all the best , keep working so hard you’re the best 👏👏👏👍👍👍👍💪💪💪
Is funny when this song came out I loved it, but I didn´t get the real meaning of it since I was only a teenager worried with my "teenager problems", but now that I´m 26 and I know how the "real world" works, these song gets a deeper meaning, I know I'm sure I´m not the onlyone am I?....
Certainly not the only one!

I once asked Stacy Orrico on an online chat as to the meaning of the final scene.
Apparently, she was looking in sadness at all the 'unsaved' people...
Food for thought.
Pacifica Northwest this gave me goosebumps…
Damn, what a beautiful soul
The main reason why she left from mainstream to do charity work.
Those days when I would sit in front of the tv watching MTV with all the good music videos playing back to back 😢

💙💙💙
Because we need to grow up before we understood it.
@@ThisIsNotAhnJieRen Behind their "cool sounding music" lies list of sick and evil rituals, the all must do in order to have their time in the spotlight. For there is A PRICE to everything, including the rich and famous lives on this earth.
Mark 1:13
And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
Hebrews 2:18
For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
Hebrews 4:15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Luke 4:2
Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
Matthew 4:10
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
James 4:7 - Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
2 Corinthians 2:11
Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
1 Thessalonians 3:5
For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
The same way Christ was tempted, so are all humans also tempted:
“Bow down to lucifer and all the earthly riches he will give to you” - and that's how we got our human entertainers (singers, actors, influencers), they were tempted with the “cool lives to live on earth” and they fell for it.
This song helped me quit smoking and I’ll be forever thankful for your music, Stacie.
yupp
precisely!
This was a wonderful song it show cases just why the industry's in such a mess nowadays cause they only care about money or top houses, cars, women or top brand name clothes or sex in videos
Everything that you said is a gold, if only everyone realize about that though
Maybe back then what you say was true. Not anymore.

Yea, yea
Oh ohh, yeaaa
I've got it all
But I feel so deprived
I go up I come down, and I'm emptier inside
Tell me what is this thing that I feel like I'm missing
And why can't I let it go
There's gotta be more to life
Than chasing down every temporary high
To satisfy me
'Cause the more that I'm
Tripping out thinking there must be more to life
Well it's life but I'm sure
There's gotta be more
Than wanting more
I've got the time and I'm wasting it slowly
Here in this moment I'm half way out the door
Onto the next thing, I'm searching for something that's missing
There's gotta be more to life...
Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me
Cause the more that I'm...
Tripping out thinking there must be more to life
Well it's life, but I'm sure... there's gotta be more...
I'm wanting more...
I'm always waiting on something other than this
Why am I feelin' like there's something I missed...
There's gotta be more to life...
Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me
Cause the more that I'm...
Tripping out thinking there must be more to life
Well it's life, but I'm sure... there's gotta be more to life...
Than chasing down every temporary high to satisfy me
Cause the more that I'm...
Tripping out thinking there must be more to life
Well it's life, but I'm sure... there's gotta be more to life... life.
Ohh... more to... more to... more to life
There's gotta be more to life
Ohh... more to life... there's gotta be more to life... ohhh

2023 and this song still hits different. Love it

Nah
This song is so deep. For me it speaks of how we are wrapped up in samsara, living through the highs and the lows, another birth, another death and in this all we are wondering: There's gotta be more to life... and we ask how we can transcend it all...
I was so OBSESSED with this song as a kid!
And now it describes my current life perfectly😭😍
Same lol i was like 14 belting this in my room, definitely never went deep into the meaning and now I'm listening like yikes life sucks

Hold you head up King. Don’t fall into the rat race… the same generic stuff people are brainwashed to commit their lives to. Look deeper and think about what “You” want. Often makes life a lot simpler and less pressured. Don’t live your life to impress anyone.

This song keeps me grounded. Keeps me sane. Keeps my feet on the ground. Reminds me what really matters in life. Im crying 😭

I'm 34 and used to love this song and it's just popped into my head after so long I had to have a reminisce with a smile x
