- Six fishing boats engaged in illegal activities were spotted by Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in Mexico’s Sea of Cortez, ending in their arrest by the Mexican Navy.

Those pirates are busted they think they could throw a driftnet in the water and run but these guys are no match for former Japanese and American Coast Guard vessels. Sam Simon and the Fawley are faster than them before Sea Shepherd got them they were Coast Guard vessels one was an Argo research vessel and later served as a Coast Guard ship the other one was a US Navy Coast Guard Cutter and both of them chased after bad guys in their career and now they are doing it again. Those poachers can run but they can not hide from the Sam Simon or the Fawley Mowatt.

Because the US media purposely does not show you the good in other governments. Got to keep you thinking they are all bad in case the US wants to invade them or something. The Mexican Navy is one of the most professional and honest institutions in Mexico.

Although Sea Shepherd and Greenpeace are rivals they are fighting for the same cause if the Viquelia and the Tobana go extinct the ocean dies The mexican drug cartels put these nets in the water to kill both the Viquelia and the Tobana which they sell to the Triad on the black market in Hong Kong Bass Bladders, Fur, Ivory, and Viquelia blubber are sold as luxury items and medicine in Hong Kong and the Cartel exchanges this contraband for poppies which they use to make Heroin and Ox which they smuggle into the US and sell to the dealers and the drugs are used to buy guns and illegal fishing gear. We need to end the triangle trade of organized crime and the first area we target is the illegal bass trade. Sea Shepherd targets the poachers and the nets, Ecostorm, Earthrace, and Greenpeace target the government to expand the refugee and outlaw the nets, Mexican Navy and Army go after the buyers and the brokers to make sure the contraband does not leave, Ecostorm Asia and Greenpeace Asia target the Chinese and make sure the contraband does not reach them, and DHS seizes any drugs, money, nets, or guns going to the Cartel. So far the plan is working nets are being destroyed, the Mexican government has changed the law, contraband is getting seized, and Cartel members and MS-13 are getting deported. If we keep this up we can save these species from going extinct.

Viquelia and Tobana are on the do not catch list you know why? because MS-13 and the Cartel use them to buy poppies from the Triad to make Heroin and Ox which they sell in the United States and the drug money is used to arm these guys and buy nets for the poachers. We are attacking these bad guys from all sides and so far it is working.

It is really wrong that the Sea Shepard is not allowed to sink vessels fishing the gill nets illegally. One small hole in the bottom of the illegal boat,and no more problem. Life jackets cost $5 each.

We have to come unfortunately disenfranchised with the Sea Shepherd Society. There were a few episodes where they alluded to the fact that the wheels but more important than the staff that were there voluntarily to protect them. Paul Watson made it most abundantly clear shortly after that, that he virtually has no respect or care for the volunteers and set forth rules and regulations to prohibit them to have any form of Celebration that they desire. Check Intuit! You will be just as disgusted as we are, when you discover that Watson Love's the whales and has very little or no respect to any of those volunteers backing his cause! That's just not right!

Japan has given up internationally hunting in the southern ocean. The shepherds one.
The remaining bottles will be in The National waters of Japan, Norway, and Denmark. Which are all three now pirate whaling nations not protected by international law.

I fully support the work Sea Shepherd does against the Japanese whaling fleet. Japanese fisherman have other means of making a living and are supported by a wealthy state. However, this is more murky to me. I understand the biodiversity argument...however what is a person from a poor country with a limited education or access to resources supposed to do? It just seems like if you poured that amount of money into teaching sustainable fishing practices there might be better outcomes for everyone.
The gillnets and log lines are illegal where they are placing them. They are responsible for knowing this. You can't get away with pleading ignorance because it is considered their responsibility to know the information. If a Crab FIsherman in Maine doesn't properly label his traps, doesn't put on the right floats, etc. gets caught and says "hey well I didn't know that my bad." The authorities aren't going to say "Oh I didn't realize you didn't know! Well, shucks that changes everything then continue as you were and do the right thing next time." It is still a violation of the law and will get you a ticket, a summons, whatever, or sometimes a verbal warning for other things. You can have your traps confiscated, all the animals released from the traps, and more.
The Totoaba they are poaching isn't being used for anything other than their swim bladder. The rest of the fish is left to rot, so THEY are damaging the so-called resources. Many of them own GPS an don't put floats on and stuff so authorities can't see the illegal nets. They KNOW this is illegal, so it isn't a matter of lacking the education it is about a lack of caring.
not only that the Chinese are coming into the area and trying to do transfers in the middle of the night to MS-13 and the Cartel. The Chinese are trying to get their factory ship out of Ecuador so far they have been unsuccessful Sea Shepherd and Greenpeace had the vessel impounded and now Sea Shepherd has sent the Bardot and the three cutters over there to make sure the Chinese don't enter Mexican waters. this area is an international whale sanctuary and the Chinese and Cartel don't belong here. If we arrest the Chinese and drive the Cartel poachers out we can end the Tobana trade and the opium trade which is taking place in these waters.
