If you have the nitrate stirring quickly you should get nano silver particles. It's exactly the same method to make nano copper, but you heat the solutions to boiling first.
Hola... el nitrato de plata está neutralizado o aún está con PH bajo? .. trate de agregarle ácido escorbuto en una muestra de plata y cobre. Pero no pude precipitar La Plata.. gracias
Ahoj, very interesting, how is possible, that no other metals follow the silver? Is ascorbic realy so selective? I am collecting methods of silver purification now, as I have some to be cleaned. Cupelation, cementation with copper, lye and sugar, Oleg (Francois Pellier) has now some method with hydrazine (nasty stuff), also smelting AgCl with Na2CO3... Vitamin C is new for me, but understandable and vitamin C is pretty cheap now, 210 CZK per kg (8-9 €), Can spare a lot of time, because washing AgCl is real pain...
Interesting! Would this work with Silver oxide? If so, what would be the chemical formula? AgO + C6H8O6 = Ag + C6H807 ? Would like to know your thoughts!
I'm not quite sure about the formula, but I've converted silver oxide (from reaction of caustic soda and silver chloride) to silver metal using ascorbic acid before. More expensive then using sugar but it works.
Hi, the starting material was silver contact points dissolved in nitric acid, copper was one of the contaminants, which remained in solution after precipitating silver
fire clay., silica sand, talcum powder, water glass, graphite powder I don't remember the exact proportions. At the time I made it was experimenting with different refractories and this one turn out well.
but in my opinion ascorbic acid is more preferable for organic chemistry reductions than for anorganic, for lead nitrate try sodium, or any other element more left from Pb in galvanic series
Hello, how many grams of ascorbic acid do you need to precipitate the expected amount of silver? example: 100g of silver how many grams of ascorbic acid

And my favorite formic acid :)
@@OwlTech333 Hmmm... Formic acid is cheap and easy to get (5€ for 1 liter of 65%), but is it selective to silver?

@@OwlTech333 Thanks for the reply and confitmation!
Hello.
What was the starting material? Does the vitamin precipitate only Ag or it drags down also copper and other impurities?
Thank you!

Hi, it's away faster than the chloride method!
If you do the proper washings can you get 999,5?
Thank you for the reply

+OwlTech Silver nitrate is reduced by ascorbic acid to silver metal that fast? And the result is always a precipitate of silver powder?
Yes
that's a interesting reaction. how much vit C was in the little beaker?
just a pinch, but it was not enough to precipitate all silver
Worked 👍
Glad I could help
Nice video.. Lemon juice?
Ravi Mangalam ascorbic acid solution
@@OwlTech333 👍👍👍
Greetings, can you tell me how to extract mercury from nitrate mercury?
khalid khalid I don't know how, sorry
@@OwlTech333 Thanks friend regards
Hi Owl tech, you use clear acid or ascorbic tablet?
Pure ascorbic acid, but tablet will also work.
Thanks for you video!
Thanks for watching :)
ph 6 ?
nitrate is concentric or dissolving in water?
what is the cake/refractory made from?
fire clay., silica sand, talcum powder, water glass, graphite powder I don't remember the exact proportions. At the time I made it was experimenting with different refractories and this one turn out well.
OwlTech does any metal soak into that stuff?
nope, the "cake" is a crucible I did some smelting in it.
at 24:18 other side of the crucible is briefly shown. The missing chunk from it was result of bad drying procedure - I was too impatient.

Will lead in lead nitrate also precipitate using vitamin c?
Ascorbic acid is a reducing agent, so in Pb(NO3)2 it should work, lead should get reduced from +2 to 0
but in my opinion ascorbic acid is more preferable for organic chemistry reductions than for anorganic, for lead nitrate try sodium, or any other element more left from Pb in galvanic series

did you try with copper salt? what's different between precipitation with glucose mirrro silver?
Fire brick crucible good idea 💪💪💪💪
Yeah thanks
