- A timelapse art video of me painting “How To Stretch A Point”, a magical realism watercolour. It explores the whimsical idea that someone could stretch a point so far that it goes full circle and points back at them, a caution against veering away from reality. The render is classical, with a playful twist, granulating watercolour pigments contrast with the transparent delicate tones of the female figure.

Symbolic meanings, play on words, and layers of deeper meaning. This painting appears deceptively simple at first yet rich in ideas. I love how the blue and green shadows and lighting make it a little unsettling to look at, making you feel uncomfortable and therefore ponder about the subject. Wonder if that was intended?
A small degree of unsettled reaction is desirable for me, and yes, intentional. But mostly I love the way yellow ochre and manganese blue mix to play up the warm and cool in shadows and form. Does that answer your question?
