  • I explain the adjustable electronics settings that come with the Ducati 899 Panigale. EBC, DTC, ABS and the 3 riding modes of Wet, Sport and Race among others. I also show you the sweet Lap time GPS recording function. Note: I have a slip of the tongue moment and refer to the oil light as a fuel light at one point in the video, I have no video editing software so this was a one take, live recording mishap sorry.

    Thank you for the excellent video and clear explanation of the modes. Do you use the quick shift often, Im getting ready to purchase an 899 but was just curious if you had any input on the functionality and use of this feature. It makes me nervous that its an electronic substitute for a mechanical clutch. Have you had any problems (malfunctions or other) with this feature, seems like it would be great when you have a passenger no jerking forward in-between gears and such. Thanks again

      Glad you enjoyed it. I love the quick shifter on this bike, one of my favourite things. Never had reliability issues with it. You do have to be going fairly quickly to use it though. Around town and the suburbs with lower rpm I clutch in and out still.

      keyboardheroics thanks again for this video. just want to say this bike is amazing. not the fastest I've ever owned but by far the most fun and most responsive. this bike rides like I would imagine a motorcycle from the future would ride. It handles dangerously well. Again most amazing bike all around. way better than my 2014 848. not even close.

    • @keyboardheroics
      @keyboardheroics  9 лет назад

      Nick Royale you're welcome, it was a good idea for a video. I'm going to say yes to your question although I have seen no dyno graph readings to support this claim. In the settings menu that I showed at the very beginning of the video you will see the screen displaying the letters R.M. before I talked about the P.I.N screen. In this screen is where you can change the levels for each ride mode (wet, sport, race) to suit your preference, along with an engine setting of "High," Medium" or "low." While you can't dial in a specific horsepower rating, these computer settings change the throttle response so it is as if the engine has been dialed up or down as though you have changed the power output. These engine map settings are all available under each ride mode.

    keyboardheroics hey mate! thanks for the vids they are great... I'm currently evaluating the 899 as an option to buy. I have some questions regarding the DQS and perhaps you may help me... My questions are 1. whether the DQS is on all the time and 2. whether it is useful in all riding conditions or just when you are in the track or fast riding situations (what about daily riding conditions like traffic jams and so on). Also, 3. I´m wondering if it works when you are at full stop and engaging 1st gear from neutral, in that case, can you engage 1st gear clutchless or for first gear you need to use the clutch? Thanks in advance and keep the videos up... Cheers!!!

    • @keyboardheroics
      @keyboardheroics  9 лет назад +1

      Gustavo Pastrana Hi I find the DQS to be one of the most enjoyable things in the world, you can turn it on or off. When it is on you still don't have to use it! Mine is always on for when I want to clear off fast but for most of the time I use clutch shifts around town/suburbs. Use the clutch to engage first gear, after that it is up to the rider if you want to clutch shift or not. You don't want to short shift with DQS though, have some rpm built up and a clear road ahead of you first. This gearbox with it's short ratios and DQS is so much fun it's ridiculous, thanks for watching!

    0-60 or 0-130 miles, which one is faster, the 899 Panigale or the Yamaha R6. Furthermore, is the 899 strong enough for the streets, or is it worth buying the 1199/1299 Panigale?

    • @keyboardheroics
      @keyboardheroics  6 лет назад

      1199/1299 are overkill on the streets, many people do not like how they ride at legal speeds. The 899 is more at home on the street while still being a track focused bike at it's core. On a stop watch it is probably faster than all of the 600cc class with the exception of the Kawasaki 636 that's virtually identical.

    • @oliver8451
      @oliver8451 6 лет назад

      Yes, thank you for answering! But is it worth buying the 899? Keep in mind that the 1199 is nearly the same price, maybe 2000 $/€ more if you´re looking at used ones...
      Is there something better on the 899 compared to the 1199/1299?

    • @keyboardheroics
      @keyboardheroics  6 лет назад +1

      If you ride on a race circuit often and it's a big, fast flowing track then pick the 1199/1299. If you ride mostly on the street or you ride on a small circuit, the 899 is best.

    I'm in Aus too. I just got my full license and I'm considering the 899 for purchase... Insurance is a killer though.. I have a quick Q about the passcode. Could you use a code every time and do away with the key? That would be cool!

    • @keyboardheroics
      @keyboardheroics  9 лет назад

      +skee33z Yeah insurance is a bummer if you haven't had a full license for a year already they slug you big time, other option is to not insure it and ride it on weekends or to secure locations only if you have an alarmed shed etc. The code is to unlock the steering and access basic options in an emergency only, it won't start the beast up sadly.

    • @keyboardheroics
      @keyboardheroics  9 лет назад

      Russ Campbell Glad you enjoyed them. The fuel gauge disappearance seems crazy at first especially coming from a Honda where common sense has it's DNA all over the bike. It's just a different way Ducati go about it, you still won't run out of fuel, 50km is plenty of time to find a service station and if you're doing a road trip set the trip computer to see how far you have gone on that tank, I pulled near 300km on a highway one time. You also get an average fuel consumption option too, although I ignore that I prefer the trip calculator and the fuel light methods. It all becomes second nature after a week I assure you.
