With this being one of the most disliked FFs by the casual community, it's really nice seeing someone doing some unique challenges with this game. Cool stuff

I don’t mean to be argumentative but I think it’s disliked most by diehard Final Fantasy fans. A lot of casuals really liked even before its pre-Royal Edition, Day One Edition. It’s just a really big difference from the first couple Final Fantasy games

    • @OriginalOmgCow
      @OriginalOmgCow 6 месяцев назад +1

I dunno about casual, but other final fantasies I could pass on after playing most of them, this had far more interactive and difficult bosses and far more interesting gameplay, just a so/so half arsed plot. This and the comrades DLC bosses (Including omega again) were far more engaging than any previous FF game. The break mechanic always felt really satisfying, particularly in comrades where you basically needed to do it to get items from specific parts of mobs to advance. Shame comrades took so much grinding for certain items from breaks of certain mobs, I certainly wouldn't want to do that again.

This might be a dumb request but would you consider making a video explaining how to enjoy FFXV's combat system?
I beat the game already but I feel like I haven't grasped the mechanics all that well, I've powered through most fights using potions, ethers and phoenix downs because I was constantly getting punished for attacking. However watching your videos I do feel like there's some genuine fun to be had, I just don't understand how to get to that point.
    Thank you regardless.

    • @Yseria

Watching him fight omega is the worst video you can use as reference when it comes to FFXV combat system, since omega has like 99% damage resistance to damage most if not all players tend to use Armiger Unleashed (Noctis is the only one fighting, the other are literally just watching) and that in itself is a different gameplay aspect of FFXV.
For general gameplay, it usually is just running around the "behind" of the enemy to do a "link-strike" with a nearby bro of you but you can only do a link strike when you are using a sword, a greatsword and a polearm. Guns, shields, daggers, machineries and royal arms will never do a link strike. (Link-strike has like a hidden cooldown, so you wont be spamming them with your bros infinite number of times)
Then there is the warp strike as a general core mechanic of the normal gameplay where more distance = more damage and the further you do this especially with hard hitting weapons like using a greatsword(or even a royal arm) would usually put enemies to a "Vulnerable" state after doing it once or twice, where the enemy is just flailing on the ground. On this state, you would be able to deal increased damage to the enemy and if you learned the "Deathblow" skill in your ascension tree (its for your bros) they will do this "Deathblow" move to that "Vulnerable" enemy.
You might also think, that since other weapons (Daggers, shields, machineries, royal arms etc.) wont do a link-strike with your bros, it will be useless. This is not the case especially for royal arms. Daggers are very fast to dish out damage, Shields can break parts easier than other weapons, Guns kinda sucks but I have heard that Gun do break parts easier too. Machineries has their special move depending on what is equipped. (Gravity Well = Prompto's Gravisphere for only 40mp! or Bioblaster to poison bunch of enemies etc.) And Royal Arms are huge stats boost to noctis like Sword of the Father and Trident of the Oracle (These 2 royal arms specially drains hp significantly slower than others)
Then for your bros aside from the techniques are 3 skills that will trigger depending on what you are doing, Gladiolus has Antagonize (When you hold the dodge/defend button gladio will do a move, has stun I think) Ignis has venom fang (if you keep attacking an enemy normally he will do this eventually, can poison) and Prompto with shock drop (when doing aerial chain attack, which gives enemies with shocked status, like getting hit with your own thunder spells getting electrocuted)
For weapons moves, referring to this playlist (ruclips.net/p/PLW7dplzpo8zmJf9wd1TZRRevIv7temXSR) its better than me explaining it and its already long enough that I think you wont even bother reading this LMAO

@@Yseria Thank you for the long explanation, this is actually the kind of content I'm looking for right now so I appreciate you taking the time to write this.
You pretty much confirmed that my understanding of the game's mechanics is lacking: I thought the warp strike doing more damage the further away you are from the enemy was a property of the Ragnarok sword and not just a base mechanic... So I'm guessing this sword has an additional damage multiplier on top of the normal warp strike.
Also, I had no idea that some weapon types are unable to start link strikes... This explains why I wasn't able to start a link strike after the in-screen prompt most of the time...
I'll have to read your message again as use it as a guide to figure out what else I'm missing. Thanks for the link by the way, I'll check that out too.
By the way, I would still immensely appreciate any kind of suggestion on how to actually enjoy what's there in the game. Like, for example: don't bother with this mechanic, don't bother with this weapon, use strategy X against multiple enemies, use strategy Y against single enemies, and so on and so forth.
Usually I love to dive deep into game mechanics but for some reason this game just hasn't clicked for me and I can't figure out anything on my own in spite of spending a good amount of time with the tutorial and training at camps.

Yeah I can try to do one. I don't have a set-up where I can easily record myself speaking while playing, so I'll have to work on that. Could be a while.
I do generally agree with Yseria's take, though. Try watching me go through Costlemark (ruclips.net/video/kUM0Fg-WpWE/видео.html) or fight Garuda without Armiger ruclips.net/video/pkvX7k3QHsI/видео.html for more "Standard but challenging" content.
