- How to make a sunburst clock. This video shows how to make a beautiful wooden sunburst clock. The clock has 32 “rays” 16 inner and 16 outer. The rays are held in place with 9 mm wooden dowels. The whole clock measures approx 98 cm (38.5 inches) in diameter. The clock mechanism and self adhesive numbers were purchased online. The wood is stained in a rosewood dye and finished with a few coats of clear lacquer. I decided to paint the dowels white to give it some contrast but you can paint it any colour or stain it the same as the rest of the wood. It’s not fully shown in the video but the clock is held up in place with some keyhole fittings. Well I had intended to use some but I couldn’t get my hands on any in time so I just used some flat escutcheon plates which did the same job. I used these fittings as I wanted the clock to sit tight to the wall.

For the last three days I have been looking at soooo many clocks on Utube and Pinterest but this by far is the best! Too bad I don’t have the tools to make it☹️

Thank you Carla.
This is so gorgeous! I've always wanted a mid century modern starburst clock 🖤
Thank you very much Lauren!
@ lauren h, me too! The ones that I can find that are for sale are so expensive! I'm going to try to make one similar to this.. I don't have all the woodworking tools, though., so I thought about trying with painted cardboard. (At least to practice on until I can get the tools to try one out of hardwood).
That is a sweet clock. Nice work!
Thanks Chris!!

Hello! Thanks for the interesting DIY video! But the hour hands must be mounted in position "12 00". Happy New Year!

Thanks Ronald. 😊
Muito lindo este relógio, parabéns!
obrigado
*Good job*
Thanks VENKO wood!!
Absolute amazing build.. quick question my friend how long would leave your sander running when attaching it to the worktop like that? Without fear of the motor over doing it??
Thank you very much. I have left it like that for at least 20 mins continuous use in the past. The one I was using was a Makita. I normally go by the better the brand the more continuous use you can do with it.
@@EamonWalshDIY awesome thank you!
Can you please provide a link to the printed circle with the markings? Thank you!
Sixties cool! Liked the horizontal drilling rig - is there a reason for the chuck-in-a-chuck arrangement? Enjoyed that mate, thanks for sharing.
666wooz is that for bits with a fluted shaft? I thought those were for hammer drills.
666wooz thank you, that was an education.
Thank you Mark! and thank you 666wooz for explaining the chuck arrangement.
Very nice look :) .. please what's the the diameter of the clock circle ?
Thank you. the diameter of the circle with the clock hands is 26 cm (10 1/4 inches) and the total diameter of the clock is 96.5 cm (38 inches).
