NIN, Tool, and Manson were like my entire existence for much of my teens/early 20s 😂 I was on tour with Manson for like almost a year during his Guns, Gods, and Government tour. I was dating the drummer of the opening band lol I’ve seen NIN live probably 30 times. The Downward Spiral, which this is off of, was their second album and it’s incredible. Their first album, Pretty Hate Machine was musically life changing lol I think it’s like in the 400s of the 500 best albums of all time. Tool had the same effect on me just differently. Like NIN was my angst, Tool was my spirit guide, Manson was my rebellion, and Rage Against the Machine was my social consciousness. I really f***ing miss the 90s/early 2000s lol Now I can hear my knees when I walk down the stairs and can’t hear certain frequencies 😂😂

Like many Gen-Xers, no one told us about hearing protection. I'm so lucky I can still appreciate music but get freaked out every once in a while, hearing a faint buzz whenever I'm in a quiet room. Now I'm trying to catch up to all the Hip-Hop/R&B that I never really paid attention to in my 20's and ironically it's just as hard as any Industrial, Metal or Punk band. It's tragic what's become of this genre in the late 2010's and on.

Trent Reznor is a genius and has won multiple awards. This song isn't about the obvious. He was going through some things. This is the 5th track from the concept album (all songs relate to one topic) the Downward Spiral and it details the self-destruction of a man from the beginning of his misanthropic "downward spiral" to his suicidal breaking point

@@KCnLex That's amazing people that lived through the 90's never heard this song. It was a breakthrough song for NIN that got over played on the radio across all major pop radio stations. It propelled Trent Reznor into more accessible sounds that wasn't purely Industrial Rock which then led to his work as a composer for movies and tv shows. You've might not be familiar with this classic but no doubt you heard a few soundtracks made by him.

I had little ones at that time and was working on cleaning up my language. Music from Disney was great, but there were times that I thought if I hear these sacchrine sweet tunes again I will scream. So I said "oh fudgsicle" a lot. Actually had a bunch of words that I would try to insert when a swear word was started! So that is why I heard little adult music in the 90s. It is actually great that I get to hear now what I missed then.
