can't blame record labels for everything. If old artists were still selling it would be different. Black culture is a youth culture and you could even say going back to africa was supposedly an oral tradition culture as well. We have children early, we die younger, we don't pass down as much material wealth due to prior circumstances. Versus a white culture that plans legacy and births, passes down wealth and tradition in writing and law, archives history in print and bureaucracy, etc. If we being real its the white ppl that are really out here passing down blues music and the history of it, honoring it, and putting on awards/shows for it....same with rnb/soul....and if we don't get it together it will be the same for gospel and rap. Unless we make it a staple going forward to make sure we put our kids on music and traditions that have been created in black america.
Yep and the fact is. We now have the opportunity to pass down things to the next generation. Can’t use that excuse of being completely held back or uniformed any more. The real question is are people going to do it?
Yes we need to let go off that "that old shit is played out" mentality when it comes to our music and culture....our contributions should be held in esteem not looked down upon. I'm happy some our legends are documenting culture like Nas is and LL coming with a adult rap station at Sirius to play current rap from our older artist. More of that is needed so some foreign or white man come along and start writing ✍️ His Story smh 🤦.

Free this man Ab-Soul, like got damn.
It's just new York...2 short not having them problems....e40...face....bun b
...uncle Luke....Twista...common like them cats not having the same issue
Schoolboy Q is the best member of TDE...then it was Kendrick then ab then jay rock...in that order no exceptions
can't blame record labels for everything.
Punch too measured. Very buttoned up. Makes 4 a boring interview tho because he’s not giving them anything 🥱
Yeah he a mastermind lowkey lol 😆
Hopefully SZA leaves like Kendrick Lamar did. TDE likes holding their artist back
Do we make God a lie O nations?
Why does mecca keep pushing the issue on "old news" that don't even matter. Punch gave you an answer, now move on. Next topic.
It make it seem as tho they were unprepared for this interview, or may he's reaching to try and cause some drama. Smh!
You clearly don't understand the history of TDE and how almost every artist on the label has dealt with issues from Punch withholding singles, albums etc. On top of that anytime he is asked about any of this over the years, he trolls.. Mecca needs to do this, atleast well have a chance to potentially get something, ANYTHING, out of punch.
Yeah, except he didn't give a direct "answer." Props to Mecca for not falling for the bs, and at least tryna get Punch to stop talking in vague circles. That kinda nonsense doesn't make for a good interview. And TDE still has a huge fan base that wonders all the time, on social media, why they have to wait 4, 5 and 6 years for their fav artists to drop. Valid questions and concerns
@@sammartin7332.... Did it work? Did you get the full answer you wanted? Smh!
@@mrdee6076 Obviously not but im not gonna fault mecca for attempting to get the awnsers the whole industry has wanted for years...
Who is this guy
hit different was 2 years ago, album was 5 years ago, IDC what nobody say TDE is fucking ass, terrible label
Man stop capping and drop that sza album
Jesus, we get it, Kendrick Kendrick, I want to hear about other artist jesus christ

Punch came off real shady and sneaky in this interview .. can’t trust anything he says. Bad vibe.
