    • @adude5136
      @adude5136 2 года назад +5

      @@EverybodyHatesChrisNow The reason for that being that when those guys were out, Hip Hop hadn’t reached the peak of its commercial success. LL Cool J was super popular but even when he was the hottest new guy in rap he was touring nationally with the beastie boys. He wasn’t an international superstar. Meanwhile in 1963 the Beatles literally couldn’t go out in public in England or the US without being swarmed by teenagers. Rock n roll was the biggest music craze in the English speaking world. Rappers and honestly, Hip Hop in general really only got to that point in the 90s. You can guarantee that in 40 years people will be talking about Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Dr. Dre etc. in that light.

They're still talking about Jay, Snoop, Em, etc. because they're still relevant RIGHT NOW. Once they're not releasing music at all or only doing things behind the scenes, that's that. Bottom line is our culture doesn't go out of it's way to keep the kids understanding that having a sense of history can only be for the better in the long run. Hip hop fans under twenty five can't tell you about anything released before 1998 unless their parents used to bump it. A young kid trying to play rock will literally study the greats like the Rolling Stones, Beatles, Beach Boys, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, etc. before they're even thinking about going out for a record deal. Most young cats don't decide to rap nowadays and go listen to a bunch of Rakim, Kane, Kool G, Ultramag, etc. to work on their technique, delivery, flows and whatnot.

    We don't celebrate the first 2 generations of Hip Hop because it's a result of the Self hatred that is instilled in original people due to the delusion of wight supremacy. It's frustrating to constantly hear conversations like this concerning the branches of a dead tree with no mention of the roots of said dead tree. No matter how one feels as an individual, it's apparent that as a collective, we hate each other whether it's unconscious or intentionally. That shit spills over in all aspects of life & keeps us from standing in unit. I learned this from reading "The Isis Papers" by Dr. Frances Cress-Welsing.

    This label is now the 'BlackGround' label to Artist. Holding their Artist to the very brink of destruction. Not even allowing their Artist to put out music to keep us listening. Just relying on one Album to serve as their Artist body of work. Where the Eps and unreleased? This Label will not stand as high anymore. They will loose their top Artist. Watch and Learn. It always happens this way. Artist will rally to leave TDE

    can't blame record labels for everything. If old artists were still selling it would be different. Black culture is a youth culture and you could even say going back to africa was supposedly an oral tradition culture as well. We have children early, we die younger, we don't pass down as much material wealth due to prior circumstances. Versus a white culture that plans legacy and births, passes down wealth and tradition in writing and law, archives history in print and bureaucracy, etc. If we being real its the white ppl that are really out here passing down blues music and the history of it, honoring it, and putting on awards/shows for it....same with rnb/soul....and if we don't get it together it will be the same for gospel and rap. Unless we make it a staple going forward to make sure we put our kids on music and traditions that have been created in black america.

    • @ACIEOFFICIAL
      @ACIEOFFICIAL 2 года назад

      Yep and the fact is. We now have the opportunity to pass down things to the next generation. Can’t use that excuse of being completely held back or uniformed any more. The real question is are people going to do it?

    • @jman1562001
      @jman1562001 2 года назад

      Yes we need to let go off that "that old shit is played out" mentality when it comes to our music and culture....our contributions should be held in esteem not looked down upon. I'm happy some our legends are documenting culture like Nas is and LL coming with a adult rap station at Sirius to play current rap from our older artist. More of that is needed so some foreign or white man come along and start writing ✍️ His Story smh 🤦.

      You clearly don't understand the history of TDE and how almost every artist on the label has dealt with issues from Punch withholding singles, albums etc. On top of that anytime he is asked about any of this over the years, he trolls.. Mecca needs to do this, atleast well have a chance to potentially get something, ANYTHING, out of punch.

    • @MichaelBrown-ti1un
      @MichaelBrown-ti1un 2 года назад

      Yeah, except he didn't give a direct "answer." Props to Mecca for not falling for the bs, and at least tryna get Punch to stop talking in vague circles. That kinda nonsense doesn't make for a good interview. And TDE still has a huge fan base that wonders all the time, on social media, why they have to wait 4, 5 and 6 years for their fav artists to drop. Valid questions and concerns
