Great video, I hope 2024 is a better year for the horror genre.
Fun fact it took 4 times of going back to the movie after stopping it to watch Skinamarink. It was torture to watch, just a too long run time of nothing. Maybe I should try again and sit through it all in one go
I'm 75 and the only horror movies that have impressed me over the past 50 years are The Ring remake with Naomi Watts and the Spanish horror western, Cutthroats Nine (1972).
In terms of a backdrop, a darker gray with eggshell would look cool. I have always thought Megan was a cheap rip off off CP with a f3male villain; the characters were also very unlikable. I haven’t seen the others and now probably never will. The mention of Willys Wonderland inspired me to check it out, I had a good time.
Nice List Mr. Lee A Few Of These I Haven’t Seen & Probably Won’t See As For Exorcist Believer I Agree It’s A Bad Movie But I’m Not So Sure David Gordon Green Is The Total Problem I Think It Was A Couple Of Things But Overall The Biggest Problem In My Opinion Was Crappy Writing
That wall background if i give it a wall color will be RED and heres why i choose that color than white? That is because white doesnt work at all to my personality i dont like white its too much, RED is a beautiful color for tour studio room because you have lots of horror merchandises and collectables that if the color RED works then that is the color I would choose.
I liked the theatrical version of M3GAN but I felt that the unrated version was more effective so i'm hoping that the sequel is rated R. The elevator scene in the unrated version is better especially how Megan is methodical in her narration in how the outside world will view his passing as a murder/suicide is just chilling. I will agree that some characters could have been fleshed out more before establishing their deaths but overall I enjoyed the first film and can't wait to see what is planned for the sequel.
Paint the wall midnight purple! Grey is nice too. Just did my kitchen in that. So agree w Insidious. The first one was so damn good n the rest were like huh. We need a new Casper movie but make it a bit scary.
I actually liked a lot that’s on this list including, insidious 5, M3gan, fnaf and the exorcist believer I swear I’m the most controversial horror Stan out there lmao
I agree with you regarding Megan. This movie reminds me too much the reboot of Child’s Play but Child’s Play is waaaaayyyyy better. Skinamarink is definitely a torture. The first time I watched it I fell asleep so I tried to watch it again the next day and I succeeded it, but it’s like you said. I appreciate doing something different but this movie is really boring and it’s really difficult understand the intentions of the director. Another one I didn’t like it’s Talk to Me. The hand thing is really dumb in my opinion, really weird movie (and definitely gross if you think the scene with the dog) and it reminds me too much Evil Dead so there is no originality or personality in that movie. I really enjoyed Evil Dead Rise and Dark Harvest
Nailed it with the bored comment - if I’m constantly grabbing my cell phone during a movie that’s a problem - means I’m bored and not good, my time is valuable and I can’t stand wasting 2hrs watching a boring movie. Also agree with you on the Child’s Play remake being better than Megan. Five Nights at Freddy’s surprised me, I’m a gamer, but not a fan of that game but I really enjoyed the movie.
Phew 😅I posted this comment before I got to your number 2 Lee 😂so I was worried I was gonna upset some people I know some friends of mine really love it 🙈🙈
Tonally inconsistent, horrible pacing thanks to a crunched 90-minute runtime, underdeveloped, unlikeable, and inconsequential side characters, lack of world-building and character development, and an incredibly underwhelming and shitty climax, among other more minor issues that irk me every time I have to rewatch this filth. Don't get me started on Andy's 'friends' and how much they 'impact' the story. I can't have fun with a film that doesn't know whether it wants to be serious, horrific, funny, or satirical while having barely any memorable kills or exciting characters and failing to deliver on its compelling premise. M3GAN has issues, but it's vastly superior in nearly every regard. I wish it had been gorier and done more with the characters, but I enjoyed it far more than the CP remake. It understood what it set out to do and delivered a fun experience. CP2019 had no clue what it wanted to be, and I fail to see why so many people defend it, especially as someone who had massive copium for it during its release.
m3gan was one of the few movies i saw in theatres this year, and the audience was really good and made the experience a lot better; however, I 100% agree that its incredibly boring and the 10-15 min of her walking down the hallways of the company building are the only good part
The worst horror for Me was definitely insidious the door of failure, I walked out half way it was hard to care about Dalton since he was a little bitch the whole time
I was so disappointed with The Red Door. I watched the first four movies for the first time leading up to the new one, and this one didn’t deliver for me.
Oh my god Blair witch really wow another movie i walked out of and it dyed at the box office and was slammed by critics saturday night live and audiences alike. Cmon bro your way to smart for that.
Yup, quite a few here I'm not sorry I missed. I'll agree with others in that I don't mind M3GAN, but I'll take the Child's Play remake any day. And given there were plenty this year I figured I wouldn't like and chose to avoid, I only have a top 5 with an honorable mention, with rants. For your reading enjoyment (Lee, you might laugh at my top two): HM - It Lives Inside. I wanted to like this more, and appreciated the cultural and emotional themes. But it's too generic and familiar for its own good. Maybe it might have benefited from a harder rating. 5. Skinamarink. Another I wanted to like but can only see it as an ASMR film with the odd jumpscare. Not the worst, has some interesting elements and ideas, but isn't engaging enough for me. 4. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. Considering this is a shoestring rip-off of several slasher franchises, making Pooh Michael Myers and Piglet Jason Voorhees, and goes the route of being deliberately bad with lame effects (except for the gore), I kinda love it. It's better than many other crappy flicks of its ilk, yet I understand why people hate it. 3. The Exorcist: Believer. I do believe that I'll never watch this again, and won't be deceived into watching its sequel. It started out okay, but as soon as the girls show demonic signs, it nosedives. I suppose it's better than The Beginning or The Heretic, but even that's debatable. The most disappointing of the year. 2. Meg 2: The Trench. I knew this would be bad, but I hoped for fun bad like the first. Instead we got Asylum bad that not only took from pretty much every terrible shark movie out there, but also Jurassic World and most embarrassing of all, Captain Planet. Pitiful. At least the Jaws 2 joke was amusing. 1. Big Shark. Tommy Wiseau's latest disaster, blending The Room with Jaws in a way that's so incompetent, uneven and unbearable, that I nearly want to apologize to Meg 2. Unlike The Room, which was unintentionally funny, this does its best to be "so bad, it's good" yet ends up being "so bad, it's bad, like PAINFULLY bad", and thus the most hilarious of 2023. I'll never watch it again, unless it's at one of those cult screenings that invites audience derision.
Top movie of the year M3gan. But I my favorite horror movies are Sleepaway Camp, Return of the Living Dead, and Day of the Dead. And I'm more interested in the themes and philosophy of the story.
You can tell by your top 10 you avoid really really bad movies haha. But I don’t blame you at all. Though skinamarink is one I just flat out avoided after so much negativity surrounding it. I might have gave in to curiosity if the film was shorter. Now this lot is in no particular order, but each and every one I had a painful experience with. They were either incredibly boring or very very lack lustre. For a long time I’ve always tried to see as many films as I can in the year. But thing is my free time is valuable, so next year it’s all about quality and not quantity for me. If a movie is said to be bad I will avoid. If a film doesn’t look like my type of thing, I will avoid. Here are the absolute stinkers in my opinion. I will never watch any of these ever again. Five nights at freddy’s The Meg 2 - I enjoyed it at the time but the more I thought about it the more I disliked it. So I guess it’s the most ok one on this list for me as I didn’t suffer during lol. The flood Slotherhouse The nun 2 Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey Re/member No one will save you Nightmare Quicksand Viking wolf Snow Falls Unwelcome Don’t look away Natty knocks The black demon A haunting in Venice Bloodthirst - this one is the only one on the list with something for me! And that something was just being able to watch Costas Mandylor for 90 minutes. At least he looked hot in this very very shitty Z list vampire movie. He was actually the only reason I watched this 😂
Yeah Charlotte there are a lot of movies, like say on Shudder, that I usually don't even bother with unless I hear a lot of buzz on said movie. I'm sure there are far worse movies out there that I didn't see. Oh...and definitely check out A Creature was Stirring. You'll thank me!

I enjoyed M3GAN a lot, but I agree that the Child’s Play remake is better. For my money it’s wildly underrated. No it’s not Brad Dourif or Don Mancini, and the design of Chucky is weird, but it’s such a fun slasher with some neat ideas and good performances. Mark Hamill does an excellent job voicing the Buddi doll and it’s one of my favourite slashers of the last few years. Great work as always Lee 👏

I think Enys men should have been number 1. 2023 was a weak year for the horror genre and honestly the top 10 horror movies for 2023 video list you uploaded, some of those movies could have made this list lol. Great video, I hope 2024 is a better year for the horror genre.
I never want to get to the point in my life where I find skinamarink entertaining lol.
Fun fact it took 4 times of going back to the movie after stopping it to watch Skinamarink. It was torture to watch, just a too long run time of nothing. Maybe I should try again and sit through it all in one go
Yeah I'm glad I watched it in the theater so I was forced to finish it. I wouldn't at home.
Interesting list
Thank you!
Sick shirt bro
Thank you!
I really enjoy your reviews and your show. I think I'm your age, LOL, and I love that we older people still enjoy our horror and slasher films.👺💀👻
I'm 75 and the only horror movies that have impressed me over the past 50 years are The Ring remake with Naomi Watts and the Spanish horror western, Cutthroats Nine (1972).
Thank you! Yes I'm a Gen Xer.
Me too.
Blood red. Eggshell.
Ooh nice.
Where's the t-shirt from Lee?
Teepublic I believe.
Will have a look for that, it's an awesome t-shirt 👌
The Blair witch project was a phenomenon when it was released at least in NJ 💯
Yes it was.
Yeah I never realized how similar M3gan was to the CP remake.
Nice List
Mr. Lee
A Few Of These
I Haven’t Seen & Probably Won’t See
As For
Exorcist Believer
I Agree It’s A Bad Movie
But I’m Not So Sure
David Gordon Green
Is The Total Problem
I Think It Was A Couple Of Things
But Overall The Biggest Problem
In My Opinion
Was Crappy Writing
That wall background if i give it a wall color will be RED and heres why i choose that color than white? That is because white doesnt work at all to my personality i dont like white its too much, RED is a beautiful color for tour studio room because you have lots of horror merchandises and collectables that if the color RED works then that is the color I would choose.
Charcoal gray. It's a neutral color. The main rooms in my house are charcoal gray.
I couldn’t agree more with you with the exorcist that final act was horrible
Yep. Atrocious.
I’m surprised Winnie the Pooh isn’t on your list
@@Doglover79586 I didn’t see it thankfully.
@@DrumdumsOfficial lucky you
I THINK YOU SHOULD PAINT THE WALL A LIGHT GRAY
I liked the theatrical version of M3GAN but I felt that the unrated version was more effective so i'm hoping that the sequel is rated R. The elevator scene in the unrated version is better especially how Megan is methodical in her narration in how the outside world will view his passing as a murder/suicide is just chilling. I will agree that some characters could have been fleshed out more before establishing their deaths but overall I enjoyed the first film and can't wait to see what is planned for the sequel.
Lee, any filmmaker that complains about your "worst of" list should receive a special, dedicated video about why their movie sucked so hard in 2023.
I agree haha.
Shining Red
Paint the wall midnight purple! Grey is nice too. Just did my kitchen in that. So agree w Insidious. The first one was so damn good n the rest were like huh. We need a new Casper movie but make it a bit scary.
Dude, I totally thought dark gray and definitely matte
😂me too
Nice thank you!
Danielle Harris is still my ultimate crush since Eerie Indiana.
Hey Lee and paint the wall blue 👍🏾
With all the Michael Myers love maybe a mural of Michael's house on the wall?
I actually liked a lot that’s on this list including, insidious 5, M3gan, fnaf and the exorcist believer I swear I’m the most controversial horror Stan out there lmao
Both Haunting in Venice and death of the Nile bored me I wish Kenneth Branagh can make his mystery movies more interesting
That may be it. I'm just not a fan of his.
Grey definitely 🩶🩶🩶
Exactly!
Exorcist:Believer is not the worst movie ever, but it really felt like a legit money grab and the story was weak.
Charcoal Gray or Black is my first choices that come to mind
Thanks for the suggestion!
Preach brother.
paint the wall red to emphasize your love for slashers 😎
Phew 😅I posted this comment before I got to your number 2 Lee 😂so I was worried I was gonna upset some people I know some friends of mine really love it 🙈🙈
Yeah it's a true love or hate movie.
You're absolutely right about the child play remake. For the life of me I can't figure out why people don't like that movie
Yeah it's so fun!
@@BlithesomeTophet Your opinion
The nun II was my favorite horror of the year
I respect that!
Insidious was great 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@DrumdumsOfficial thanks!
m3gan was one of the few movies i saw in theatres this year, and the audience was really good and made the experience a lot better; however, I 100% agree that its incredibly boring and the 10-15 min of her walking down the hallways of the company building are the only good part
The worst horror for Me was definitely insidious the door of failure, I walked out half way it was hard to care about Dalton since he was a little bitch the whole time
Yes it was horrible.
I was so disappointed with The Red Door. I watched the first four movies for the first time leading up to the new one, and this one didn’t deliver for me.
Yeah and it looked promising. I liked that they were catching up with the kid from the first. But what a waste.
Fnaf fans: How dare you😡
Haha they loved it. I hate cutaway kills and messy subplots.
Oh my god Blair witch really wow another movie i walked out of and it dyed at the box office and was slammed by critics saturday night live and audiences alike. Cmon bro your way to smart for that.
I actually loved skinamarink top 10 horror of the year for me
Awesome!
For your reading enjoyment (Lee, you might laugh at my top two):
HM - It Lives Inside.
Hell yeah love the CP remake.
Five nights at freddy’s
The Meg 2 - I enjoyed it at the time but the more I thought about it the more I disliked it. So I guess it’s the most ok one on this list for me as I didn’t suffer during lol.
The flood
Slotherhouse
The nun 2
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey
Re/member
No one will save you
Nightmare
Quicksand
Viking wolf
Snow Falls
Unwelcome
Don’t look away
Natty knocks
The black demon
A haunting in Venice
Bloodthirst - this one is the only one on the list with something for me!
@@DrumdumsOfficial yes! I really want to see that! I can’t find it anywhere here in the UK at the moment. I’ve been checking around regularly though. Hopefully soon! I love a good creature feature.
no one will save you was really good, i liked it
Agree with you about haunting in Venice. Right it was really dumb and silly.
Yep.
Paint it Red semi gloss. my office is that color
Guess Lee didn't see "The Outwaters" this year. 😄😄
Haha nope.

Awesome list!
I can sit through bottom of the barrel stuff from people like Mark Polonia.. But Exorcist Believer was tough. Man I genuinely hated that movie.
The Exorcist, for me, is the greatest horror movie ever made. How did DGG fuck up Believer so bad? The Heretic was bad. Really bad. But, at least with that I felt some guilty pleasure...
M3gan really should have skipped the origin and went right into psycho mood with flashes of its past
Yep.
Shark movies are so hit or miss
Meg sucked hard
But surprisingly Meg 2 was actually a somewhat fun creature feature
I also just saw the 47 meters down sequel and it was pretty solid
And a couple days ago I saw a trailer for "no way up" and looks like it could be a decent shark/underwater thriller
Yeah they're like a needle in a hay stack.
Some people prefer megan cause that other franchise has childhood truma attached to it
Skinamarink was pretty painful to watch. But my worst of the year would have to be the Exorcist. My expectations were high and i really wanted it to be a good movie...and it just wasn't. Blood and Honey was a stinker, 2 hours lost
I wasn't getting as angry with Exorcist B like I was Skinamarink haha.
I've noticed that everybody talks about their top favorite movies but not their top favorite shows of the year. Here is my list.
1. Twisted Metal
2. The Lincoln Lawyer
3. Reacher
4. The Last of Us
5. Chucky
Nice!

9. Haunted Mansion (2023)
10. The Sacrifice Game (2023)
This dude puts Halloween ends in his top 3. I'm done
Get over here.
Paint it Blood Red lol
Haha nice.
Yes! The CP remake is sooooo underrated.
Five nights would be one of the worst of the year for sure!
Matte charcoal gray
Haha thank you!
Absolutely agree about M3gan!! Entertaining, but did not like any of the characters. I honestly cannot find a reason to justify watching it again or recommending it to anyone
And Haunting in Venice is literallyyyy an Agatha Christie story. They should have marketed it differently
Yeah horrible characters.
