      McKendra Ray honeslty whilst Marta produced soo many champions, her techniques were borderline abusive. These girls were children and she had girls absolutely shaking scared, terrified of her. Girls have talked about being to scared to even eat an apple after dinner at the USA Gymnastics official camp. That’s rediculous and soo many gymnasts developed an eating disorder because of stupid standards like this!

    • @mckendraray4341
      @mckendraray4341 4 года назад +18

      @@elizadoolittle23 Oh I know. Yes, she did a good job at making the American gymnasts so strong but it's almost like they were only good because they were scared into it. Almost like they were afraid that they'd be kicked off the national team if they weren't perfect. Which is kind of true because she made it clear that any gymnast who didn't meet the standards would be removed from the national team immediately. Personally, I think she's a disgusting human being. Her and her husband. Some of the Romanian gymnasts even accused them of beating them when they coached overseas. I think it's a little bit fishy that she retired shortly before the Nassar scandal broke out. Almost like she knew that the secret would soon be exposed. Both her and her husband belong in prison.

    Tip from a 33 year old ex gymnast - when you say “I feel like I don’t even remember this part of my life at all” - EVERY part of your life will be like that if you don’t make it a point to purposefully make memories, and I don’t just mean taking Instagram pictures. I mean journaling, writing letters to your future self, and taking “mental pictures” of moments you want to remember forever 🤍🤍🤍

    JO can still do two vaults! (Better score counts.) It's elite that changed the rules so only one vault is allowed. Do you wish elite would allow two attempts at vault in the AA/TF with the better one counting or do you like only one attempt?

    • @Altoclarinets
      @Altoclarinets 4 года назад +3

      So in elite -
      - In the 1997-2000 code, FIG required everyone to do two different vaults (they could be from the same entry, but had to be two separate skill numbers), and averaged the two scores for the gymnast's final score
      - After 2008 and 2012 both had vault medalists with a fall, FIG briefly considered changing VT EF scoring. Averaging a vault with a fall and one performed well means the fall only loses .5 off your final score, rather than 1.0 as on every other event, making it easier to overcome with a high difficulty score. So they proposed instead averaging the difficulty value, but adding the execution deductions (so if you had a 9.0 E on both vaults, your final E-score would be an 8.0).
      In the future in elite, I'd like to see a strategy that is a combination of those two:
      1. Gymnasts have to perform two different vaults in every stage of competition.
      - I'd actually prefer to have the requirement even a little tighter: the two vaults cannot be from the same row of the CoP. So you could do a tucked DTY and a layout DTY, but not a layout DTY and an Amanar.
      - This would make the duration of the vault rotation a little closer to the other three, and require gymnasts to show more range on the event.
      - Hopefully it would encourage more depth in the EF field as well - more gymnasts would say "well if I gotta train two vaults anyways might as well make them two different families"
      2. Scoring for the two is calculated with the averaged difficulties, cumulative E score as in the abandoned 2013 revision
      - However, since everyone competing is now doing two vaults, all vaults could be revalued at 1/2 their current D, and the calculation just stated as "add the D scores for both, subtract the E deductions for both"
      - Beyond solving the fall problem, having additive E deductions over a larger body of gymnastics would bring vault E scores more generally in line with the other three events. Right now a great vault can go 9.5+ while anything over 9 is an great E score on the other three events. This is partially because vault is so short there aren't many options to deduct. Making it twice as long and counting all of the deductions helps even that out.

    omg mykayla how do you do switch sides without pulling your groin? every time i do them i pull it so bad and its really annoying because it renders me unable to run or do any other kind of dance skill for like a week after. do i just have to keep pulling it often enough before it stops pulling?

    What do you think you did during your development that allowed you to generate so much power?
