Rival teams from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Canada, France, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Spain battle it out at iconic venues around the world in short, intense races for a total prize pot of $7 million. Teams compete in identical hydrofoiling F50 catamarans that fly above the water at electrifying speeds approaching 100 km/h. Fabulous racing! Was fortunate to be gifted a premium ticket today. Quite pampered with food and unobstructed view of bottom mark and finish, in a seat! To see these boats at those speeds and sometimes at the limit of control, exhilarating! Canada is one of the best teams, for sure, just a few too many penalties this weekend.
The commentary is good, but sometimes talks to much about personalities when there is action on the course that doesn't get described. A more play by play style would be better. And turn off the pounding music when each race is running!
Halifax, you did a fabulous job!

Both these commentators are shocking having put up with them for four series now.
I view the races with the sound volume as low as possible.
The racing is entertaining enough without all the super hyped commentary. Especially the American commentator who makes it sound as if he is commentating on a WWF fight.
The sound of the British blokes voice is so annoying.

I've followed all four series till now and I can't recall them having ever done that before.
Especially like in the last fleet race they allowed Germany to come in.
There is a demand with the event and TV coverage to get the races going, its not like they cane cancel racing for the day and come back the following day.
An example is the final event race to crown the over all series winner at the end of series two in 2022 in Sanfran.
There was little to no wind so the three bouts had to craw around both hulls down up and back once to determine the winner.

First off, it's PHIL Robertson and he's not reckless... just very aggressive. He is a fearsome match race competitor and always has his elbows out. Sometimes he pushes it too far but it's a fine line and not for the meek at heart. He's always in the top 3-4 at the start but has a challenge when in a pack.

Along with the two male commentators, we've been putting up with them for four series now.
They are trying to appeal to a new crowd not just the traditional people who normally follow a sailing regatta.
Thats why the boat speed's are in km's and the helmsman is called a driver.
The intro music is just all part of hype they are trying to create around the sport.

I can't believe people can't wake up early enough to get all the boats in the water. What the hell. Do you think that this is going to make sponsors want to throw money at this sport when they don't get to at least see their boats on the water? I think not. It doesn't matter what place they're in in their minds they need their sign in front of their fans and customers. SailGP is beginning to become a joke.
