In the '80's when the kids' cartoons tried to be aspirational, often with PSA's at the end of them, like He-Man and GI Joe, but there was always some better quality in Optimus Prime. With all the relics humanity will leave behind when our time is finally up, one of them is almost certainly going to be Optimus Prime that is discovered by whatever intelligent species comes after us.
Some simpletons complained they couldn't distinguish the robots because of their complex designs. The idiot executives at paramount listened to them and now we have the new garbage simple CGI.

@@LRon-ef7niI love G1 but I will have to say this: while it’s not too hard to distinguish G1 characters thanks to their voice and color palettes, what makes it difficult is when the animation team somehow messes up the colors sometimes There are episodes depicting Optimus either with or without a white stripe, and sometimes characters speak with a voice that don’t belong to them But the worst offenders still belong to Rumble and Frenzy because hasbro/Takara can’t decide who is who I will say though that the Bay movies brought us really interesting and iconic designs that by silhouette it’s instantly recognizable - the only real thing I hate about Bay films is how every iteration after the first movie, Bumblebee SOMEHOW has to be a mute

From what I heard in the first Transformers movie they worked hard on the Transformers making every piece fit for both car mode and transformed mode to try and make it more believable and Optimus had over 200 pieces to his CGI model.
This is why Bay verse is the GOAT.. more realistic and looks alien bot organism.. now looks funny they made TF back to a cartoonist look and looks disney robot toy shit happen... i miss bay verse hope he continue TF6 Rise of Unicron...
i'm not the most knowledgable transformers fan, but these transformations have been nothing, but impressive and realistic from car to robot form and vice versa. also, massive respect to peter cullen for being the voice of optimus prime for many years. mr cullen is a f*cking legend!

I accidentally buck up on the first transformers by accident and decide that i need to watch it over from the start with my big daughter and since then we've watch all of them together over and over and over again
I think what makes an Optimus prime transformation is the wide shots. When you can see more of the truck and can visibly see where the truck parts are going when turned into a robot , it makes for a better transformation. It adds the believability that the transformer is actually able to turn into that vehicle
The first transformation still gives me goosebumps and makes me wish to see it in personal I'd what people say but bayverse (at least the first two) holds a special place in my heart ❤ Awesome video!

That DOTM transformation will always be a top favorite. Without Ironhide even saying it, the jerkiness with which he changes TELLS you he's pissed. They could have just had him transform, but they went and added emotion to it. Its why I love the movie designs. While only CGI, so much work and detail was put into them to truely bring them to life.
The original Optimus transformation in 07 is one of the most iconic shots in movie history.
