Thanks Tom, we're going up through the lock soon for our first time with our 30 foot Monterey. Last time I was on the Hudson was with you when we bought your 270 Crownline. We'll be staying at Donovan's for a couple days, Kathy said you moved to Florida. I hope all is good.
I remember my first time going thru a lock off lake DORA IN FLORIDA,SO COOL.I REMEMBER YOU DOING A RUNDOWN ON EXPENSES,WHAT WAS YOUR COST FROM JERSEY TO CENTRAL FLORIDA? ROUGHLY.THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVENTURES AND GREAT VIEWS
I’ve been through the locks around the Erie Champlain and Troy lock for years. Try them in the fall or early spring when your wife doesn’t want to go with you like I do. I just pull up to one of the ladders on the side and hold on for dear life
Awesome video of a not so well known area of NY. I’m obsessed with the history of the Erie Canal which made me find your video. Greetings from Long Island and I hope one day I can experience a ride on the canal.
we were planning on going through a lock at the Chickamauga Dam in Tennessee by kayak, but I had to change plans. Hopefully if we don't get a chance to go this year then we'll do it next year for sure.
There are always kayaks going through the Waterford flight locks. They are all over the place! Must be intimidating to do it in a kayak. You seem so small in the chute even in a boat! Stay safe!
@@OutOnTheReef HEY! You guys ant leaving me up here in the cold by myself……. I have a least another year in the upper Chesapeake before I can head south.

@@AdventuresofHappyOurs I’ll check it out. I live very close to Oyster Bay. I’m about 10 minutes south of there. It’s a beautiful area.

We toured the Trent Severn Waterway Lock System for the first time this year up here in Canada. A little scary for rookies.

Sometimes I single hand it. Depends how crowded I guess and if Brigitt is up to helping out. Lol
What’s the point or purpose of having those locks ?
Keeps the water level navigable on the rivers. Also many locks have electric generating power stations - free power from the flowing water
!
whats the maximum beam and draft the Troy lock will accept?
45’ wide 520 feet long and 17 feet deep
