    The best strat guide for King in my entire life. Since T7, never going out of red ranks because of so many holes in my King gameplay. And you are just exposing it. From me, the kind of King player that chilling out from far distance, whiffing so much, randomly throwing out running exploder, running 3, b12 in neutral, not choosing the safest option etc..
    Since he's King, and he's a grappler, so I must getting comfortable playing King at range 0 to 1 since that the source of King gameplan from

    it's kinda what i assumed, you want to be close but you want to pressure with pretty safe buttons like jabs to make them block and respect your buttons before you set up for grabs.
    you have the 1,2 and if they wanna start ducking you can do 1,2,1 that leads to a mid and if they start ducking the initial jab you can do 2,1.
    but you have to really get good at defense up close meaning you will have to learn to duck and sidestep their moves or learn when they are minus so you can get your turn back and start pushing them with your jabs or maybe punish them upclose with a launcher, but yeah it's all about being close and conditioning them to be afraid to press buttons and ducking.
    when they are conditioned to stand block just waiting for their turn you start to grab them which is practically telling them they have to take risks by pushing buttons to which you will take advantage of that by punishing them for it and being plus so either they are too scared to press buttons or they are too scared to not push buttons.
    but yeah overall as a king defense is probably the most important and finding holes in the opponents offense and you won't learn that far away, besides the scariest place a king can be is right next to them.

    finally! i been trying to get good with Kings boxing since the start but have been having trouble integrating my grappling in with the strikes, usually try to force grabs when i remember to do them which is never good. When I finally get into a flow state King plays wonderfully, I feel like I could definitely integrate the Hop Knee more since my strikes and threat of being grabbed causes a lot of people in my ranks to crouch, but I am just too slow sometimes lol. Sometimes Im scared to do GS or Counter hit on ff n 2 because i dont want to be put on the other side so i try to save them for finishing moves (which never works out)
    thanks for this guide, Ive got a lot more notes to refer too when Im in my slump lol.

    Im maining Ling atm (i know i know, but my T7 main is still ded and shes fun, so sue me!!) But Ive been dabbling with King lately because I miss AK a lot... its funny to see that hes harder to play than I thought. Going against King I always thought he was this mashy brainless character like you mentioned but to stop people from mashing or ducking all the time is actually real work with King since he lacks good tools to play small and noncommital pressure (or mashy) tekken like most character can in T8
    This was a great intermediate-advanced guide and a great addendum to the dashfight guide of yours I watched before. It also helped me learn about Tekken strategy and how i should approach the game a lot so thank you!!

    Thoughts on king’s wavedash? Is there much to mix out of it or moments of oki to run it? I’ve gotten pretty good at it and doing throws out of it. But, I have yet to really see it be super effective. Since we’re normally pretty close it feels dangerous and not exactly worth it. Btw, you’re the guy I watch to improve my king! Thank you for being a cracked and willing to share info and thoughts, just picked him up (in MR rn on day 4) and hope to get there someday in being good.

    • @Jesandy
      @Jesandy  10 месяцев назад +1

      I'd say there's good use out of his wavedash in closing the gap quickly and faking out crouch grabs! Stuff like crouch dash muscle buster, giant swing, etc have high skill barriers for high reward. If you can find an opening to land the grab, it's worth it imo, no need for oki (though it does help sometimes)
      Thank you haha! I hope to be able to see other kings like yourself thrive so I can learn from yall too! Keep it up! 🤙🤙

    • @onyxshade5381
      @onyxshade5381 10 месяцев назад

      @@Jesandy Thank you! Yeah currently I do GS and SW(not iSW yet…) out of wavedash. Using it for an opening grab is probably what I should be using it for. I’m very focused on poking so I normally do wr4 to safely check if they duck. I might have to start incorporating muscle buster too but at my level no one is reacting to the difference between a micro dash and a raw grab.

    Awesome vid! I wonder about using throws defensively since CH throws are hard to break. Sometimes i use giant swing like a ch tool, since it’s 10f tho it will probably lose to high crushes. Btw are high crushing moves generally unsafe/launch punishable? Sometimes i freeze up thinking i might get crushed again😂

    • @Jesandy
      @Jesandy  10 месяцев назад

      Generally speaking, most high crushing moves are lows, and most lows are unsafe, though there are *some* high crushing moves that are safe like Asuka and Jun's low slow sweep. Each high crushing move varies in how punishable they are, so you'd have to go through each one. And yes! I use throws like this often, but I try not to crutch on it as it leads to bad habits and can be exploited relatively easy (and is high execution to pull off)

    Anything mire than minus 10 is safe on block right?you mentioned minus 6 and 8, but you can still block so what's the disadvantage?

    • @Jesandy
      @Jesandy  8 месяцев назад +1

      Correct- anything more than -10, like -9, -8, are safe! You can still block at -6 and -8, but that's pretty much your only option. Constantly being at -6 or -8 leaves you with little room to continue your offense, so, it leaves you at a disadvantage *because* your only option is to block. Mashing will more than likely get you counter-hit, and you're too minus to step and move around effectively

      Jaguar sprint is meant to be a gimmick, with the exception of oki and heat smash on block where they're forced to guess. Good stuff but also confusing stuff .
    So essentially u say the plan is to not go for throws right away.. but to start poking .. to condition them to not duck ...
    But the issue is a lot of kings already know this .. and u even admit a lot of kings pokes give up his turn .. so how the hell do u keep conditioning when all u really have is jabs, df+1 and ff n 2 ...
    At some point u just gotta go for the throw.. and if u believe they ducking instead of throw do ddt as that's pretty much the only real mind game he has it seems with throws vs duck punishers

    • @Jesandy
      @Jesandy  10 месяцев назад +2

      Sorry! I know my formatting was very sloppy so I'll try to sum up what I was saying:
      Essentially, going for grabs immediately as your only *main* offensive tool is what leads to king players getting ducked and shut out.
      Poking with king's neutral helps shift the focus from grabbing to managing with pokes
      Your opponent *cannot* duck and eat mids all day in anticipation of a grab that might never happen because they'll lose the game.
      So, they have to respect your options. Moves like df1, df2, ffn2, d3, (not sure if I mentioned this move) b3 on defense, ff1, and jabs all make your opponent respect your options. You won't duck when king's at range 2, so you eat ffn2. You will duck at range 1, because he can grab you when he's in your face, and you'll be vulnerable to all his fast mids. Though they aren't incredibly plus on hit, the point is to get your opponent to respect your range 1 game and to keep yourself close enough to set up a grab. The more damage they take from a fast mid, the more inclined they are to *not* duck, therefore setting them up for a grab attempt. I mention big moves not being the go-to moves initially because moves like f3 are fast, but they give up your advantage on block. Against opponents who have really good defense, it's best to use the small damaging mids that keep you up-close in range 1 while also retaining some frames to work around with on block than constantly being in a -8 or -9 disadvantaged situation from a big mid that gets blocked like f3 or f4. Hope this makes more sense!

    • @mardouqhouseofe3962
      @mardouqhouseofe3962 3 месяца назад

      The shove is hard to execute the rest of his pokes are effective but limited and easily defended against. King is not a choose it and mash it user friendly character. Takes a lot study and hand and eye coordination to get him really going. That's his downside and a major one still I'm loyal to him and one day my King will be Magnanimous.
