      This beginning techniques are legit I've done them several times in mcmap and had them done to me. Most of these types of techniques are situational. If you use them in full force you can easily break or dislocate someone shoulder/arm when applying pressure.

Since most people break it into techniques and don't show the whole thing like in this video you get a lot of slack but if you have a understanding of the pattern you cover a lot of material that is like a goldmine in one video. I can only assume you critics are ignorant about life in general, because if you had any life experience you would know that most arts do practice like this including BJJ and judo. If the student does not go along they will get something broken. MMA has a mixture of all the arts so picking on this one and doing a comparison to MMA is stupid. Most importantly none of you can ever have been in a real fight, in real fights the people are not stripped down wearing lycra shorts, there is normally a lot of posturing and grabbing from which any competent Aikido, BJJ, Judo or jujitsu exponent would be able to drop someone. I trained in Jujitsu and I see many similarities in these moves, Aikido is a defensive art and also a graceful one well worth the time to learn. But as most of you know nothing about any art other than being key board masters, you will continue with your ignorant perspective on everything in life.

    • @bgdavis5089
      @bgdavis5089 5 лет назад

      The other thing they are missing is this: in a real fight an attacker will use his hands to try to grab or hit. An aikido guy can then grab the attacking wrist or hand or arm and do an aikido technique. This is especially true when a puncher leaves his arm extended. People forget that aikido can also be offensive. The aikido guy can make a move (grab, whatever) and do his thing. People also forget that aikido is actually a form of jujitsu. It's effective if done correctly.

    • @suminshizzles6951
      @suminshizzles6951 5 лет назад

    I love all the expert commentary from people who think they are martial arts experts. Technique demonstrations are not fights or sparing. I hold blacks in four different arts and a military career of a myriad of martial training.
    No art looks the same in the dojo as the street. Very few techniques work as in movies. Everyone defaults during a fight. I have seen people very well trained in various martial arts who cannot execute in a combat situation.
    I love the simple utility of jujitsu and I love the training in aikido. After 40 years I can pick and choose what I do, or how I use my skills. Working in a public school I have used aikido hundreds of time a year stopping fights and attacks without excessively hurting anyone or getting fired or arrested. It work and works well. If I need more aggressive techniques I have them.

Look at the attacker. The attacker LETS himself be taken and thrown. A real fight, where the opponent is really fighting back, will be an entirely different story.

Saludos.

    What most of you guys dont understand is that Aikido IS NOT MEANT to be used to fight evil like youre out of a Rocky movie, its meant to help you get away when you dont have any other choice. It doesnt have to be super useful in a street fight (even tho, if you have good reflexes, it can still be applied).
    Think about people getting assaulted on the streets: the other person is not going full MMA against someone if they want to rape them or to take their purse, they will probably grab you, your clothes, or your belongings. In those situations Aikido comes real useful since IT IS whats MEANT to be used for.
    Idk why yall think: not doing it in a ring=staight up useless. what kinda hoods do yall live in, where getting into street fights seems the number 1 problem??
    Also another issue with yall is that 90% of people who judge Aikido have never in their lifes experienced a technique on them. It may look like the assistant is colaborating too much or being over sensitive, when in reality its either you move with them or you get your arm broken. This shit hurts like hell even when theres little pressure.
    I once asked my Sensei what would he do in a specific situation, i pretended i was attacking him with a knife (at full speed also) and he, in a matter of two seconds, had me on the floor without me cooperating or moving to help him. His body moved out of muscle memory and did it without me warning him or anything. This proves that when you actually learn it correctly and practice, you CAN use it in a street fight or whatever you guys do in your free time.

      I admit you are right. I (184cm,68kg,bodybuilder) was lessoned in March in front of a supermarketThere was a brawl concerning a trolley with an about 40 year old woman with thick ugly specs,physically much weaker than me.Since she only was 150 cm, she was an easy push and I pressed her 2 meters back and downwards
      with my hands on her shoulders. Then she enclosed my right wrist, a short aching,she went aside and I tumbled to the ground on the back,and that in my full black leathers. On the ground, I realised a sprain in my right arm making it useless for further combat. The specs lady saw my surprise and stretched from right to left over my chest, snatching for my left arm poising it in an awkward and helpless position I never saw before. I was completely under shock and could no longer move none of my four limbs. I flushed and even fainted.I only remember some passers by in the audience saying "Look at the arm of that lady,look at the arm of that girl,you ever saw this before?".After some minutes,we were finally seperated by the security and the specs lady said:"Guess you never exspected a dwarf to know the Judo,hunny hulk".But I doubt now whether it is allowed to apply such things in public.

People are sick of all the martial arts fanboyism. Anyone with half a modicum of intelligence understands that martial arts aren't a pissing contest. Competitive combat sports are not the be-all-end-all measure of a martial art's effectiveness. Every martial art was developed with a sparticular set of real-life contexts in mind and no martial art is good at every single situation, not even MMA which is specifically developed for a given set of rules in a controlled competitive environment.

    This is not aikido, this is "real aikido" invented in Serbia by mister Vracarevic and used by Russian and Serbian special forces. "The Real Aikido defense system includes unarmed techniques, as well as defense against weapons such as knife, pistol, etc. It includes of aikido, judo and jujutsu, techniques simplified so that they can be easily taught in security and self-defense courses"

    True stupid story: when I was a kid In the mid-1980’s (obsessed with martial arts movies,etc.), I watched a documentary about “the way of the warrior” or some such thing. I was intrigued with the aikido throwing techniques demonstrated and said to my mom “reach for me like this like you want to grab me”, then I imitated what I saw, and, without intending to, flipped my mom onto the living room floor. Don’t worry she was okay. But I can attest to the effectiveness of aikido on unsuspecting mothers. In an unrelated incident I also dropped my dad in the kitchen demonstrating a fireman’s carry throw I did in judo class. He also survived. I guess I’m the reason for those “don’t try this at home” disclaimers.

    Ahhh.. I always really enjoy these. Not for the video content or entertainment value, but rather the opportunity to relish in the wisdom and musings of so many “masters” in the comments. Rarely will so many experts gather on one forum and share their expertise. Scribes take down every word, so future generations may benefit from their guidance. Doesn’t matter if the video portrays Segal, or Grand Masters who have dedicated their entire life to their art, we will all be warned to NOT be impressed. It’s through the criticism of others, that these keyboard masters try to convince us of THEIR expertise and importance. Well, I for one am humbled by their greatness and if they scoff at the lifelong accomplishments of any true master, because THEY are convinced that they are more accomplished after weeks of study, then that’s good enough for me and I bow to each of you. Thank you for setting us straight. 🎭

      ....In "normal Aikido" or "real Aikido" - There is no such thing as "normal Aikido" or "real Aikido".
      All the students that learned closely from Ueshiba later formed their own styles and variations based on what they learned - Some softer, some harder, some even negated the Martial aspects totally and became a healing style. Believing that there is a normal Aikido style simply indicates that you have not yet evolved deep enough into the understanding of Aikido to comprehend the full spectrum of options within Aikido.
      - and in several styles it is common to resist enough that if the technique is no performed correctly then it stops - or for those having enough techniques in their body they can then transition into another technique.

Listen all you cage fighters, you better make your first punch count cause if this guy were to catch you on the counter, your arm and shoulder would be ripped off, this is the reason for the attacker going along with the technique to avoid injuries, people will never get it that the very techniques they use every day in the ring was derived from traditional martial arts.

      What an ignorant comment, don't understand why you guys bother flooding the comment sections with this nonsense just because you have seen a few fake martial arts videos on youtube. You are correct that no one attacks like that, obviously. You miss the entire point of martial arts, and you fail to understand the difference between a demonstration and a fight. You see this is what they call a demonstration, which is why the guy "attacking" is not really attacking at all, in fact he is giving the demonstrator the ideal situation to demonstrate techniques. That is the reason the "attacker" is moving much slower, leaving his hand in place and etc, to give the demonstrator the advantage and also so that the people watching can follow whats going on. Anyone with any sort of common sense would understand that a fight is not predictable, and that studying martial arts is not to learn perfect moves to deal with specific attacks. The point is to train your body and mind, so that you can practice moves and train your body in order to develop your own style, so that in a real fight you have a better chance to adapt to the situation and handle yourself.

    • @drhkleinert3245
      @drhkleinert3245 6 лет назад +4

      Well said Aikido Fan Boy...yes, its hard to realise when someone must see that he wast lots of time to learn a mambojambo "martial" art, talks about "self defense" and must learn by the hard way that a xx degree Black belt is nothing in a real self defense situation. The prob is that no opponent will move like a Dojo Partner. So many black belts get smashed on the street. And that is the sad truth.

    • @jeffme52
      @jeffme52 6 лет назад +8

      The sad truth is you guys are easily manipulated and are just repeating the same BS without having any real knowledge on the subject. If you think training in martial arts does nothing in a real self defense situation, then you have no clue about martial arts or fighting for that matter. Martial arts are not meant to be moves to counter specific moves, idk you would have to be pretty stupid to even think that. Obviously you didn't read my comment, but i'll repeat this, "The point is to train your body and mind, you practice moves and train your body in order to develop your own style, so that in a real fight you have a better chance to adapt to the situation and handle yourself."

  • @Catgat37
    @Catgat37 6 лет назад +3

    Majority of people commenting on martial arts videos have been brainwashed by the UFC. They believe that if something doesn't work in the cage, it is useless. They are those that look to train in brutal styles of combat in order to make themselves better fighters. In my opinion all styles have a benefit to them. One however should not allow the path they choose to follow to become a double edged sword. This will only lead to your own destruction either spiritually or in some cases physically. Aikido commonly is a more peaceful art and when one becomes at peace with themselves they find no reason to fight. They avoid physical confrontations because they can diffuse a situation before it becomes physical. And in this aspect Aikido is a very valid system.
    "One cannot ascertain the perfections or imperfections of any chosen style if they refuse to see the value of all styles"

    Aikido at this level is no joke. What an amazing thing to watch. Long time ago I was used as a assistant prop by my "instructor" at a much lower level because of my size (stout) yet ability to flow with him and then take a fall. The trainee has to flow because If you don't flow you will suffer irreparable harm on the simplest of movements. The immense amount of pressure applied just to your wrists travels from your finger to your elbow then to your shoulder socket. In one moment you are tippy toe trying to prevent your arm from being destroyed to flying like in a car wreck to immediately slapping the mat because again the shear pressure is applied down your entire arm. LOL I have read comments where guys are like "I would sacrifice my arm being broken in an arm bar from a BJJ match" but this ain't that. Your arm socket ripped out, your elbow broken, you entire forearm turned into jelly, your wrist destroyed and your poor little pinky finger twisted out of socket. In a single "event". Not even talking about the ground impact where your ankles get broke because they hit the ground so hard, the broken ribs if he decides to kick, or knee you or the broken neck from the fist strike.
    There is a ton of very odd looking Aikido videos that unless you know what you are looking at it looks stupid. And some are for sure. But this ain't it. Look at this assistant's body being thrown around. Think what it would take for you to get that kind of velocity on another human body. And the instructor is not trying to hurt his assistant.
    Then there are videos of Aikido squaring off like in a competition. This is where it's not as effective if at all. In my most humble opinion Aikido is very well suited where you have "one shot" to remove the absolute life threatening attack like a knife, sword, bat, stick, gorilla punch.
    For me I think Aikido practice was the most amazing experience I have had in life. The serenity (we were a silent dojo), the flexibility you trained to achieve on every joint and muscle, the learning to fall, roll, recover then just learning the throws, locks, the ability to just fade away from the attack then bring in the momentum at just the right moment. And the tradition. It really is a beautiful style IMHO.
