The marshall is talking about how society always requires you to do things and there’s no free will and you can’t be whatever you dream to be and that there’s no happiness cause of how society is……All while he’s under a magic drug that’s used to control his free will by the Seed family.
I agree partially, there's perhaps an innocence to Marshall but perhaps a broken man. Drugs use is okay but so long you can support yourself and become better and empathetic. It's very easy to indulge with drugs that turn you into an asshole or selfish person. I think there are many people like Marshall on the Earth.. they need proper love and guidance. Hes not wrong about about us living their lives.. because some us are also caught in the rat race with disregard for own ambitions and relationships.

This scene really affected me way more than I care to admit...when I first saw this scene, I'd of fallen victim to the bliss. No doubt about it at all. I even let the Marshall go through the gates the first time, because I couldn't bring myself to judge him or take away his happiness, if that is truly what he felt. And then as I rewatched this scene again, and again, and again, I started to becoming alarmingly depressed at how relatable his words are to our real life. I even showed this scene to my Lady, which I regret now, because she just told me that I was letting it affect me too much. She was probably right, but I couldn't help how i felt. It was a punch to the gut, thrusting me into seeing our reality as it really is. "We live mundane lives, just doing what someone else tells us to do...day after day...Everybody thinks they have free will, but come on, when was the last time you did something that wasn't required? DEMANDED? Nah Rook, we don't live our lives...we live theirs. And we think we have free will, but that is just a lie...."
